The Effects of Knowledge Sharing, Interdependence, Mutual Benefit Sharing on Franchise Information System Performance (지식공유, 상호의존, 상호이익공유가 프랜차이즈 정보시스템 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, an effective building and utilization of information system are essential in franchise firms as well as corporate management. Accordingly, this study is to examine the structural relationships among partnership quality of supplier, trust with a supplier and commitment, and franchise information system performance based on Henderson's(1990) information system partnership model and Lee and Kim's(1999) partnership model. For these purposes, the authors developed several hypotheses. The data were collected from 173 franchisors and analyzed with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 The results are as following. First, sharing knowledge, interdependence, and mutual benefit influence supplier trust, but do not influence commitment. Second, supplier trust affect commitment and it prove that supplier trust is a full mediating role between partnership quality and commitment of franchise and information system supplier. Third, both supplier trust and commitment have a positive effect on performance of franchise information system. Therefore, it implies that supplier trust is significant factor in an performance of franchise information system. At the end of this paper, managerial and theoretical implications, limitations and future research directions were suggested.

Knowledge Search and Organizational Ambidexterity (지식탐색과 조직양면성)

  • This paper attempts to delineate and analyze the relationship between organizational search activities and organizational ambidexterity. A growing number of studies confirm that organizational ambidexterity is important for firm survival and long-term prosperity. However, research on how to achieve ambidexterity is still limited. To date, structural separation, contextul ambidexterity, and top management team attributes are proposed and examined as major antecedents of organizational ambidexterity. In this paper, I argue that orgnizational search may influence ambidexterity through its effect on exxploratory innovation and exploitative innovation. Since little study has been paid to uncover the relationship between knowledge search and ambidexterity, I develop theoretical arguments and propose some propositions rather than examine hypotheses. The propositions developed in the study are as follows; P1: The breadth of internal search is positively associated with exploratory innovation; P2: The breadth of external search has a reverse U-shaped relationship with exploratory innovation; P3: The depth of internal search is positively associated with exploitative innovation; P4: The depth of external search has a reverse U-shaped relationship with exploitative innovation; P5: The interaction between internal search breadth and internal search depth is positively associated with organizational ambidexterity; P6: The interaction between external search breadth and external search depth is positively associated with organizational ambidexterity. Based on the above propositions, I suggest some considerations for empirical research and propose avenues for future research.

Senior Workforce's Job Satisfaction: Focused on the Mediating Effect of Knowledge Sharing Practice (시니어 인력의 직무만족: 지식공유 활동의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This paper explores the relationship between senior workforce's education & training and job satisfaction. Further, the mediating effect of knowledge-sharing practice is also analyzed. We used 970 senior workforce's survey data from Human Capital Corporate Panel. Using structural equation modeling, the results suggest as follows. First, senior workforce's education & training had a positive effect on job satisfaction. Second, senior workforce's knowledge-sharing practice had a positive effect on job satisfaction. Third, a mediation analysis reveals that knowledge-sharing practice significantly mediates the relationship between education & training and job satisfaction. Several theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

A study on the current status of prehospital emergency care for pregnant women, knowledge related to pregnant women, and self-confidence in emergency care among paramedics (119 구급대원의 임산부 응급처치 실태 및 임산부에 대한 지식과 응급처치 수행자신감에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the status of emergency care of pregnant women transported by paramedics, to analyze the knowledge of paramedics related to pregnant women and their self-confidence in emergency care, and to provide foundational data to improve the quality of emergency care for pregnant women. Methods: We received a total of 1,798 rescue logs from 119 paramedics, who had transported pregnant women, in I city from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018. For survey analysis, we used the 164 questionnaires received from these paramedics from June 15 to August 14, 2019. Results: The analysis of the rescue logs revealed that 85.5% (1,537 individuals) either had disease symptoms or were pregnant, whereas only 14.5% (261 individuals) had traffic accidents or accident-related injuries. The mean knowledge of the paramedics related to pregnant women was 23.73 (±2.98) points, and the mean self-confidence in emergency care was 3.19 (±0.74) points. Knowledge of the paramedics about pregnant women and their self-confidence in emergency care of these women had a statistically significant positive correlation (r=.306, p=.000). Conclusion: Paramedics should be provided theoretical and practical training through various programs about the emergency care of pregnant women.

Current prehospital care status, knowledge, and prehospital care confidence toward the elderly among 119 emergency medical technicians (119 구급대원의 노인응급처치 현황 및 노인에 대한 지식, 응급처치 수행자신감)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to improve the quality of prehospital emergency care for elderly patients by determining current prehospital care status based on run sheets and level of knowledge, and prehospital care confidence toward the elderly through questionnaires answered by 119 emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Methods: This study was conducted with 4,946 elderly patients who were transferred to the hospital by 119 ambulances in D city from March 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014. This study was a descriptive study of 119 run sheets. The questionnaire was completed by 160 EMTs working in D city. All data were analyzed by using SPSS 21.0. Results: 74.2% was due to disease among the 4,946 elderly patients who were transferred by 119 ambulances, and a rest was due to injury. The mean knowledge score of the 119 EMTs regarding elderly patients was low. Their confidence on prehospital care of the elderly patients statistically significantly differed according to career at hospital and education. Conclusion: Theoretical knowledge, education on prehospital care of the elderly, and repeated technical prehospital care education and training accompanied by feedback assessment by 119 EMTs are needed.

Configuration Design of a Train Bogie using Functional Decomposition and TRIZ Theory (기능분해와 TRIZ 이론을 이용한 철도 대차의 구성설계)

  • The configuration design of a mechanical product can be efficiently performed when it is based on the functional modeling. There are methodologies, which decompose function from the abstract level to the concrete level and match the functions to physical parts. But it is difficult to carry out an innovative design when the function is matched only to a pre-detined part. This paper describes the configuration design process of a mechanical product with a design expert system, which uses function taxonomy and TRIZ theory. The expert system can propose a functional modeling of a new part. which is not in the existing parts list. The abstraction levels of design knowledge are introduced, which describe the operation of mechanical product in the levels of abstraction. This is the theoretical background of using knowledge of function and TRIZ for configuration design. The expert system is adequate to control this design knowledge. which expresses knowledge of functional modeling, mapping rules between functions and parts, selection of parts, and TRIZ theory. The hierarchy of functions and machine parts are properly expressed by classes and objects in the expert system. A design expert system has been implemented for the configuration design of a train bogie, and a new brake system of the bogie is introduced with the aid of TRIZ's 30 function groups.

  • People collectively understand and often use information and knowledge as terms in a variety of contexts without concern nor discussion of their many competing conceptual and theoretical definitions. The concepts of information and knowledge are intrinsically linked and suffer some of the same problems when scholars try to define them, especially when truth is a prerequisite. This theory paper presents a simple thought experiment that relates the reliabilist and truth-tracking analyses of knowledge with the physical and cognitive paradigms of information, respectively. The results of the thought experiment are discussed within the context of the Post-Truth era, with implications and applications for information literacy.

  • The article determines that the study of the development of scientific and didactic knowledge about the educational process in higher education should be built mainly on the basis of qualitative research methods that ensure the identification and understanding of the changes taking place in didactic knowledge, in the unity of their internal and external manifestations. On the basis of the epistemological model of the study of science, a generalized model of didactic knowledge about the educational process in higher education, including didactic relations as a theoretical core, subject of research, research methods and positions of researchers, ways of interaction between science and educational practice, and thematic structures of didactic knowledge; scientific and methodological problems of didactic knowledge about the educational process in higher education at the present stage of its developments due to the post-nonclassical transformation and orientation of research towards the humanitarian ideal of scientific character.

An Empirical Study on the Integrated Organization Abilities in Third Party Logistics Korean Company for Reduction of Export Expense (수출비용절감을 위한 3PL업체의 통합조직능력에 관한 실증연구)

  • Third party logistics research is searching for increasing its logistics efficiency of organization. Perspective of resource-based theory, this study is to reveal the exploratory relation between integrated capabilities, organzaiton knowledge, and service performance. To develop the relational model, this study conducted a theoretical survey on Shang(2009)'s 3PL service providers research model and Synder & Cumming(1998)'s learning of organization knowledge. According to the result of correlation analysis, Integrated organization knowledge is positively correlated with service diversity advantage (correlation coefficient= .670, p-value= .000) and service quality advantage (correlation coefficient= .575, p-value= .000). The thesis argued that Korean companies try to apply integrated organization abilities and service performance for cutting their export expense.

Co-Evolution between Open Innovation and Absorptive Capacity in Korean SMEs (개방형 혁신과 흡수역량의 공진화 : 한국 중소기업의 혁신경로 관점)

  • This study examines the co-evolutionary process between open innovation and firms' absorptive capacity. The effects of open innovation can be maximized through the capacity to absorb the knowledge from the external sources such as universities, government-support research institute, and private R&D centers. This study used data of STEPI technology innovation survey conducted at 2002, 2005, and 2008 (3 points measures). The data were analyzed through a structural equation model. Results suggest that open innovation at t0 point influences positively the absorptive capacity at t1 point, which subsequently enhances the intention of open innovation at t2 point. This result suggests the existence of co-evolutionary process between open innovation and firms' absorptive capacity. When knowledge comes from universities, the co-evolution has sustained; whereas when knowledge comes from private firms' R&D centers, the co-evolution has not effected. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
