19세기후반 전환시대 Navajo 인디언직물의 고찰 (A Study of Navajo Textiles in the Transitional Period)

  • The purpose of this study was to survey Navajo's textiles of the transitional period(1868-1890) and to examine appearance background of those textiles. The two study questions were central to the project. 1) What were characteristics of eye-dazzler and pictorial in the transitional period? 2) How developed was the American trader's role? To perform the purpose, literatures on this subject were surveyed, investigation of textiles in Arizona State Museum and Historical Museum of Arizona were accomplished. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Eye-dazzler is called because of their small, serrate triangle and diamond patterns in intense, contrasting colors. Eye-dazzler mostly used Germantown yam and wedge-weave technique. Germantown was a plied yam colored with synthetic dyes. Wedge-weave technique used optical illusions and an undulating technique to create an effect of motion and rhythmic symmetry. 2. The Americans began to intern Navajos at Bosque Redondo, New Mexico in 1863. During their stay at Bosque Redondo, the Navajo came into greater contact with Rio Grande blankets. The influence of designs of these becomes increasingly important in the eye-dazzler. 3. Pictorial materials included rich new sources the railroad provided and living environment of animals, plants, hogans, neighbors, deities that interested the Navajo. Also, sandpainting textiles were a pictorial. Three types of textiles utilized: yei, yeibichai, and sandpainting tapestry. 4. The arrival of the railroad caused many changes for the lives and textiles of the Navajos. The railroad brought a new client into the Navajo, and the Navajos attempted new textiles with design-inspiring fresh materials to adjust taste of the eastern purchasers.

  • Recently the roles of railways about the prevention of global warming caused by greenhouse gases and for low carbon green growth are larger than ever. And the railroad-related research institutions have been active in researching for energy conservation. Especially the urban railroad has been emerged as the best means of transportation compared to the general public transportation systems in punctuality, stability, ecology and etc. In operating the urban railroad system there are various ways for energy savings. In the larger category, One is the hardware aspect according to the structure of the vehicle and the development of control systems. The other is the software aspect which efficient train operation can be made through control of driving patterns and driving diagram. In this paper, there is sense to analyze the result in verifying expectation relation with variable and the use of electric power on this after selecting main variables that can influence to the energy of the train operation in the software aspect. First, after collecting the basic data related to operation(train speed, operating hours, power consumption, the position of stopping station, electrical power system etc.) and according to this, investigating the consumption of the energy of the operation, in the side of energy consumption deducing and analyzing problem, this will be found solutions.

The Design of the Feedback Control System of Electromagnetic Suspension Using Kalman Filter

  • The basic element of the EMS suspension is the electromagnet system, which suspends the vehicle without contact by attracting forces to the rails at the guideway. The suspension of a vehicle by attractive magnetic forces is inherently unstable and consequently it is continuously adjusted by the strength of the suspending electromagnet from rail irregularity and bending of the guideway. In order to improve reliable tracking, it needs to get feedback signals without measurement delay time. In this paper the concept of feedback control system with Kalman Filter in EMS is proposed. The input signals in the feedback control system are an air-gap and an acceleration signal. The air-gap signal with noise from the gap sensor is transformed to the filtered air-gap signal y without measurement delay time by using Kalman Filter. The filtered air-gap signal is transformed to a relative velocity and a relative acceleration signal. Then it multiplies these values by gain matrix in order to get the actuator's reference voltage value. The simulation results show that the dynamic responses of the suspension system can be improved by reducing the influence of measurement delay time of air-gap signals.

  • An Electric Vehicle (EV) is operated with the electric energy of a battery in place of conventional fossil fuels. Thus, a suitable charging infrastructure must be provided to expand the use of electric vehicles. Because the battery of an EV must be charged to operate the EV, expanding the number of EVs will have a significant influence on the power supply and demand. Therefore, to maintain the balance of power supply and demand, it is important to be able to predict the numbers of charging EVs and monitor the events that occur in the distribution system. In this paper, we predict the hourly charging rate of electric vehicles using transformation matrix, which can describe all behaviors such as resting, charging, and driving of the EVs. Simulation with transformation matrix in a specific region provides statistical results using the Monte-Carlo Method.

  • The aims of the demand response market are stabilization of the power supply and improving of the reliability of the power system. The various applications of the energy storage system (ESS) in the railway systems are studied and implemented to raise the energy efficiency. It is one of the most important how to determine the obligation reduction capacity (ORC) in participation to the demand response market because it has an influence on the profit extremely. In this paper, when participating to the demand response market with demands in the urban railway, we calculated the available ORC and economically evaluated ESS based on the real load data.

  • The railroad freight transport has great merits that can transport mass and specific items(dangerous goods), but it takes a long time because of low accessibility to the logistics facility and the complex process of loading freight in middle station. This paper analyzed volumes and characters of each railroad freight item, and was carried out the effect of applying E&S system to Gyeongbu line containers to find the method of reducing transport time and effective container transportation. As a result of Cost-Effectiveness analysis, the block train(B/T) is reducing transport time more about 1~2 hours. The road congestion cost is saving about 2.2 billion won. And due to skipping work of organizing train, personnel and equipment expenses savings expected about 9 billion won. It is expected that the E&S system enhances the container transport service and has an effect positive influence on making a efficient method of transport. But It is necessary to estimate pre-feasibility of applying E&S system that the standard of estimating cost and benefit is required further examination.

  • Electromagnetic Interference(EMI) in electric railway operation has become increasingly important. The components within very high power electronic, and the circuits for treating low-level signals, comprise complex system that must coexist and be highly reliable. To study it, It were included how much the HEMU-400X generates EMI and it has an effect on the power conversion units which resulted from Power Line Disturbance (PLD) phenomenon by contact loss during its running. In this study, the dynamic characteristic of a contact wire and pantograph suppling electrical power to high-speed trains are investigated. The analysis of the loss of contact based on Power Simulator program software is performed to develop power line disturbance model suitable for high speed operation. It is confirmed that a contact wire and pantograph model are necessary for studying the dynamic behavior of the pantograph system.

국토 공간조직에 미친 고속철도망 건설의 영향 : 프랑스 TGV 교통망의 사례를 중심으로 (The Influence of High-Speed Railroad Construction on Territorial Organization : A Case Study of the French TGV Transportation Network)

  • 본 연구는 신개념의 교통수단이 국토공간에 도입됨으로써 발생하는 공간조직 변화를 분석하기 위하여 프랑스 TGV교통망 건설이 가져온 프랑스 국토공간 조직의 변화를 국토 전체적인 공간조직 변화, 도시체계의 수정, 교통체계의 변화 양상 및 유럽 통합공간체계 측면에서 고찰하였다. 프랑스는 TCV 교통망 건설이후 20여년간 커다란 국토공간조직상의 변화를 겪게 되는데 지리적 단위마다 독특한 변화양상을 보이고 도시권의 관계적 위치에 따라서도 상이한 변화의 모습을 보이고 있다. 전체 국토 차원에서 TGV망 건설의 가장 큰 효과는 국토공간 수렴효과와 프랑스 국토가 Paris를 정점으로 한 고속교통망 체계로 연결된 것이다. 그러나 시간거리 축소효과는 각 지역의 고속철도망으로의 접근성과 연결성에 따라 차이를 나타내고 이는 지역간 개발기회의 불균등을 더욱 증폭시키는 부작용을 낳아 국토 공간의 불균형개발을 강화하는 요인이 되기도 한다. 지역적 차원에서는 TGV의 중간 경유역이 있는 지방 중소도시는 기존의 지역행정중심도시와 함께 지역경제 중심권으로 발전하여 단핵구조에서 다핵구조의 지역 공간구조로 이행하는 변화 양상이 나타난다. 도시권차원의 변화는 TGV역세권을 중심으로 신시가지 개발 및 경제집적지구의 성장으로 새로운 경제활동지구가 성장하였다. 현재 유럽국제 고속철도망의 연계건설 추진으로 각 유럽도시 권은 새롭게 편성되는 유럽 도시체계에서 경쟁력을 갖춘 고차 계층의 도시로 자리매김하기 위해 새로운 공간조직 전략을 통한 새로운 도시경쟁력창출을 모색하고 있다. 우리나라의 KTX교통망의 구축 또한 국토공간 조직의 변화를 동반할 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 향후 나타날 효과와 부작용을 미리 예견하여 세계화와 지방화시대에 적합한 경쟁력 있고 유연적인 교통체계로 발전시켜가야 한다.

  • It is reported that about more than 45% of damage shown in railroad rails include breakage of rail end which cross the center of Thermit welded zone. Thermite welding is always accompanied by numerous aluminum oxide and secondary inclusions, which may have a negative influence on the ductility and toughness of the weld metal. In this study the aluminum powder recycled by waste aluminum can was used for iron oxide generated after the process of welding rod and the remain aluminum was reduced by minimizing the quantity of aluminum. And complete dissolution was induced by using ferro Mn powder as the additive element. This study reviewed the applicability of heat treatment in the welded zone of rail using ceramic heating pad by carrying it out. This study could observe the improvement of the mechanical characteristics (UTS and elongation) and the changes of failure mechanism from brittleness to ductility. It could be found that improved strength and elongation result from pearilte fine structure.

  • The brake force of drum brakes for commercial vehicles is applied by a s-cam. First of all the influence of the s-cam load angles and elastic modulus of the pad on the contact pressure distribution between pad and drum was checked by using 3 dimensional finite element model. In the second part, temperature and thermal stress analyses were carried out by an axisymmetric model with constant heat flux and pressure-proportional heat flux. In the case of temperature analysis the heat conduction from the interface to the pad and the drum was modeled using a thin soft film element, so artificial division of the generated heat flux between pad and drum is not necessary. The analysis was performed by ABAQUS/Standard code.
