우리나라는 1899년 9월18일 경인선철도가 개통된 이래 일본은 청일전쟁의 수행을 통해 대륙으로의 물자수송의 필요성과 한반도의 지배를 위해 간선철도를 건설하기 시작하였다. 경부선은 1900년에 건설이 시작되어 1905년에 개통하게 되었다. 호남선은 1914년에 완공되었다. 우리나라사회는 철도의 개통으로 큰 변화를 겪었는데 새로운 노선을 통해 국토공간구조의 변화가 생겼으며 새로운 도시의 형성과 산업과 문화의 변화 등 새로운 현상이 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 향후 우리나라 철도부설과 그 사회경제적 영향력에 대한 연구의 기초연구로서 몇 가지 사례를 통하여 철도가 우리사회에 미친 영향력을 분석해 보고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 도로에서 철도로 바뀐 우리나라의 교통망과 신흥도시인 대전의 변화, 그리고 수행여행으로 철도를 많이 이용한 사실을 경주역과 불국사 역의 사례를 통해 살펴보았다. 향후 우리나라에서 철도가 가져온 변화 연구를 통해 철도의 다양한 기능성에 대한 파악이 가능할 것이며, 향후 일본과의 비교 연구를 통해 식민지 시대의 철도의 특성을 구체적으로 파악할 수 있을 것으로 사료 된다.

Recently, The business environment is very rapidly changed and complicated. Therefore, the companies are confront with the biggest difficulty. To overcome this difficulty, the management should be able to accomplish the human resources management and the efficient business management. Korea railroad industry has a close association with national life as it carries out public works based on its public nature as well as purses the corporate spirit. For that reason, Korea railroad industry has a great spin-off on national economy and exerts a tremendous impact on the improvement of productivity around the industries and the international competitiveness at aspect of efficiency resulting from business rationalization. Railroad system can be described as organic. Railroad Employs take a great role in this system. According the psychology and the Organization Behavior, the decision maker's personality and employee' work satisfaction have influence on performance. The purpose of this study is to examine the Railroad Employs' Personality and Work satisfaction which influence on the efficient business management.

Several possibilities on the stability analysis of the railroad tunnels passing through the abandoned mining area are considered in this paper. Previous works on the influence zone due to cavities are investigated to study the effect of the safety deterioration near the cavities which are normally unknown to the engineers. Additional works on the numerical analysis of the influential zone are also performed in 3D space. The praximity of railroad tunnel and unexpected cavities is critical to influence the stability of railroad tunnel under construction. Futhermore, the study on the influence of underground condition like joint and faults should be significantly controlled under both design and construction stage.

In this Paper, Ⅰ illustrate the continuity and severance of Korean railroad. The Korean railroad has been running for 105 years now since it started operation in 1899. Between 1905 and 1945, Japan's imperial government ruled Korea including operations of the railroad. After Korea restored its sovereignty, Korean nationals managed the Korean railroad with our own ability and strategies. At present, we can examine the effect of railroad in perspective of continuity and severance respectively. For one thing, the concept of continuity is described as influence or railroad still remains. For another, the severance shows facts and phenomena that are broken off. I have come up with some facts that are involved with continuity. For example, infrastructure and the formation of cities and land spaces are connected with the sequence. Futhermore, the railroad has made a huge dent in modernization and expedition of movement. In the course of tracing down the facts, I classified the concept of severance : the separation of South and North Korea, drastic changes in transport policy, operations and characteristics. Finally technology has brought about a major breakthrough with the development of Koran high speed rail.

Demand forecasting for railroad traffic is fairly important to establish future policy and plan. The future demand of railroad traffic can be predicted by analyzing the demand of air, marine and bus traffic which influence the demand of railroad traffic. In this study, forecasting the demand of railroad traffic is implemented through neural network using the demand of air, marine and bus traffic. Estimate accuracy of the demand of railroad traffic was shown about 84% through neural net model proposed.

Stability analyses on the 17 railroad cut-off soil slopes were carried out. The influences of rainfall infiltration on the slope stabilities were taken into account by seepage analyses using finite element method and by assuming ground water tables to be located adjacent to soil surface. The validity of those analyses were evaluated by comparing the slope failure characteristics between analysis results and the past failure records. The analyses were not appropriate to estimate the failure surface and the method considering only the increase of pore-water pressure (reduction of matric suction) as the influence of rainfall cannot appropriately estimate the surficial failures that occurred most of the cut-off soil slopes. For the better estimation of the surficial failure, the influence of water flows over slope surface which erode soil mass and/or increase driving force, should be evaluated and considered.

There are various elements that have influence on safety and reliability of high-speed railway vehicles. Among them, mechanical characteristics of traction motors are very important. Therefore, we verified that temperature characteristics have influence on damage and durability of these parts. We designed a measurement system for temperature test, and could measure the temperature of each device by the system. As the result of temperature test, we could confirm that the traction motors on Korean High-Speed Train satisfy the criteria. From this test, we get information of the traction motor about the temperature characteristic during running speed and running time.

If the Seoul-Pusan high-speed rail project is able to open its revenue service in 2004, Korea will be the fifth country with an HSR system in the world. And, it will be recorded as a major milestone in the transportation history of Korea. But, Government regulated railroad fare because railroad fare increase can bring negative influences to CPI(Consumer Price Index). Consequently, Korea National Railroad cannot afford to operate railroad independently under current railroad fare system. In this paper, we studied the railroad fare system under implementation and its influences to CPI. And then we proposed that railroad fare must be decided by competition with other transportation modes and based on the demand variance by introducing YMS(Yield Management System).
