  • The trends in building construction these days are moving towards having better work space and greater suitability for the use of information technology, Therefore people can work in a more relaxed, delightful and pleasant environment. So accidents like fire could cause the mass destruction of human beings. In this paper, we estimated the escape time from a building and simulated the study results on computer to see how safe it would be in a real situation.

  • This paper presents a method to calculate the escape frequency factor and its verification from TSC(Thermally Stimulated Current) equation and cures. To apply calculation method of ν using asymptotic estimation, it utilized two sets of TSC data with 1K interval. This method enables one to get the exact value of ν and activation energy at the same time by using computer programming. So, it regards their calculation method as a useful process to obtain the value of physical behavior.

This paper aims to evaluate the path of the spread of a fire and the suitability of fire fighting appliances for maximum egress time. General advanced phase of compartment. Aswell, we analyzed and verified the path of the flame in compartment fires. Also we conducted an analysis of the adaptation of sprinkler systems concerned with sprinkler RTI. Moreover those evaluation is made more earlier by the development and use of computer simulation program and rapid progress to apply PBFD (Performance Based Fire Design).

  • Recently commercial egress softwares are frequently used for the risk assessment. The estimation of evacuation time is an important procedure and the outflow coefficient in a bottleneck becomes the crucial factor for design of emergency planning. This paper compares the outflow coefficient of measurement with those of softwares in the bottlenecks of subway stations where masses of people movement is observed. Stairway and turnstile are the 2 bottleneck points along escape pathway. For the escape simulation it is recommended that 2 different modes be used in the programs for 2 kinds of bottleneck. The results of the comparison makes a big difference among them and some of differences can be reduced by correct design of input data. In conclusion the results of simulation should be examined thoroughly by procedure of comparisons with other results.

  • The dam made reservoir, a major means to overcome the problems caused by water resource's uneven supply by time and space, plays an important role, particularly, of water supply. The role of water supply will get more important, considering the usage of water resource becomes more intensive. Therefore, it is continuously required to construct new dams securing water supply and to study on effective operation plans of the dam. The size of reservoir needs to be measured according to possible supply estimation in the pre-design stage. The depth of water, at this point, should be taken. Among many ways of sounding, echo sounding has been frequently used recently. This study, therefore, presents a new way of sounding that takes less time with stronger accuracy, uniting GPS and echo sounder to apply a means of obtaining three dimensional position data. This enables the designer to escape from the conventional way of sounding in the estimation of reservoir to design and redesign a new dam.

  • This paper introduces basic research of optimum routing assessment system as voyage support purpose which can obtain safe and efficient route. In view point of safety, the prediction of ship motion should be evaluated in the condition of rough weather This part includes general seakeeping estimation based on 3 dimensional panel method and parametric roil prediction. For increasing voyage efficiency, ETA(Estimated Time of Arrival) and fuel consumption should be calculated considering speed reduction and power increase due to wave effects based on added resistance calculation and ship performance characteristics. Basically, the weather forecast is assumed to be prepared previously to operate this system. The idea of these factors in this system will be helpful to escape from dangerous voyage situation by wave conditions and to make optimum route planning based on ETA and fuel consumption.

  • SAD (Sum of Absolute Difference) algorithm is the most frequently executing routine in motion estimation, which is the most demanding process in motion picture encoding. To enhance the performance of motion picture encoding on a VLIW processor, an optimal implementation of SAD algorithm on VLIW processor should be accomplished. In this paper, we propose an implementation of optimal scheduling of SAD algorithm with conditional branch on a VLIW-based high performance DSP. We first transform the nested loop with conditional branch of SAD algorithm into a single loop with conditional branch which has a large enough loop body to utilize fully the ILP capability of VLIW DSP and has a conditional branch to make the escape from loop to be achieved as soon as possible. And then we apply a modulo scheduling technique to the transformed single loop. We test the proposed implementation on TMS320C6713, and analyze the code size and performance with respect to processing time. Through experiments, it is shown that the SAD implementation proposed in this paper has small code size appropriate for embedded applications, and the H.263 encoder with the proposed SAD implementation performs better than other H.263 encoder with other SAD implementations.
