Reliability of Navicular Drop Measurements in Standing and Sitting Positions

  • Purpose: This study was designed to investigate inter-rater and intra-rater reliability of navicular drop measurements by clinicians in sitting and standing positions. Methods: Fourteen subjects with pronated foot were recruited. Two physical therapists randomly assessed the same patients on different occasions but on the same day. Almost all patients were assessed on more than one day. The intra-rater and inter-rater reliability of navicular dropwas estimated by calculation of the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results: The intra-rater reliability of navicular drop measurements ranged from 0.93 to 0.87, the inter-rater reliability from 0.98 to 0.70 with the patient in standing and sitting positions. These results showed good reliability for calculated variables. Intra-rater and inter-rater reliability of navicular drop in standing position was higher than those of sitting position. Conclusion: Although inter-rater and intra-rater reliability of navicular drop in the sitting position was lower than in the standing position, measurement of navicular drop in the sitting position showed good reliability and was acceptable for patients who could not stand alone without assistance. We recommend that having the patient in the standing position is appropriate in navicular drop measurement.

  • Recently fault currents are increasing in a network. It is caused by increase in electric demand and high penetration of distributed generation with renewable energy sources. Moreover, distribution network has become more and more complex as mesh network to improve the distribution system reliability and increase the flexibility and agility of network operation. Accordingly, the fault current will exceed capacity of circuit breakers soon and all the various rational solutions to solve this problem are taken into account. Under these circumstances, superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) is a new alternative in the viewpoint of technical and economic aspects. This study presents operation processes for a resistive-type of SFCL, and it proposes reliability model for the SFCL. When a SFCL is installed into a network, the contribution of decreased fault currents to failure for distribution equipments can be quantified. As a result, it is expected that a SFCL makes the reliability of adjacent equipments on existing network improve and these changes are analyzed. We propose a methodology to evaluate the reliability in the distribution network where a SFCL is installed considering a reliability model for resistive-type of SFCL and reliability changes for adjacent equipments which are proposed in this paper.

  • A study to build a reliability model of electronic ballasts for the fluorescent lamp has been performed in this paper. We selected the widely being used specification, MIL-HDBK-217 for the study. We briefly reviewed the basic concepts of the electronic ballast with the selected reliability specification. We then developed a reliability model for the ballast using MIL-HDBK-217 and predicted the reliability.

  • A study to build a reliability model of electronic ballasts for the fluorescent lamp has been performed in this study. We selected the widely being used specification, MIL-HDBK-217 for the study.   • This paper deals with the stochastic analysis of a three-states semi-Markov reliability model. Using both the maximum likelihood and Bayes procedures, the parameters included in this model are estimated. Next, assuming that the lifetime and repair time are generalized exponential random variables, the reliability function of this system is obtained. Then, the distribution of the first passage time of this system is discussed. Finally, some of the obtained results are compared with those available in the literature.

  • This paper introduces different vectors of the reliability equivalence factors of a series system consists of n independent and nonidentical components. The failure rates of the system components are assumed to be constant. The reliability function and mean time to failure are used as performances to derive the reliability equivalences of the system. The results presented here generalize those available in the literatures. Numerical study is given to explain how one can utilize the theoretical results obtained.

Reliability and Validity Analysis of the Instrument on Pattern Identifications for Depression (우울증 변증도구의 신뢰도, 타당도 평가)

  • Objectives: This study was performed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the instrument on pattern identifications for depression. Methods: Two assessors carried out an evaluation about the instrument on pattern identifications for depression, targeting 201 participants, who after taking the HAM-D score over 12 or under 7 twice. Results: Inter-assessor reliability was higher than intra-assessor reliability in a reliability analysis about classification of pattern identification evaluated by the instrument on pattern identifications for depression. Reliability of intra-assessor and inter-assessor showed a moderate to strong agreement when reliability analysis about classification score of the pattern identification had been performed. Reliability analysis to evaluate the validity of the instrument on pattern identifications for depression showed moderate agreement. Conclusions: The results reveal that reliability analysis of the instrument on pattern identifications for depression showed an over moderate agreement and validity analysis represented a positive correlation.

  • In this paper, as the first step to assess and enhance the reliability of Korea High Speed Train, electric traction system is selected and reliability analysis is carried out. The electric traction system is classified into subsystems and functional block diagrams and reliability block diagrams are drawn. Expressions to calculate the reliability are deducted and Mean Kilometer Between Service Failure is calculated using the trial test results on the track. Calculated results show reliability growth of the electric traction system.
