In this paper, we propose an region segmentation and texture based feature extraction method which split the pavement and roadway from the camera which equipped to the visually impaired person during a walk. We perform the hough transformation method for detect the boundary between pavement and roadway, and devide the segmented region into 3-level according to perspective. Next step, split into pavement and roadway according to the extracted texture feature of segmented regions. Our walking assistance system use rotation-invariant LBP and GLCM texture features for compare the characteristic of pavement block with various pattern and uniformity roadway. Our proposed method show that can segment two regions with illumination invariant in day and night image, and split there regions rotation and occlution invariant in complexed outdoor image.

Traditionally, in the hospital the doctors saw the TRUS images by their eyes and manually segmented the boundary between the prostate and nonprostate. But the manually segmenting process not only needed too much time but also had different boundaries according to the doctor. To cope the problems, some automatic segmentations of the prostate have been studied to generate the constant segmentation results and get the belief from patients. Besides, on detecting the boundary, the ones in the middle of all images are easy to find the boundary but the base and apex of the images are hard to do it since there are lots of uncertain boundary. Accurate detection of prostate boundaries is a challenging and difficult task due to weak prostate boundaries, speckle noises and the short range of gray levels. In this paper, we propose the method that extracts a prostate boundary using features of its directions on prostate image. As a result of our experiments, it shows that the boundary never falls short of the existing methods or human expert's segmentation. And also, its searching speed is too fast because the method searches a smaller area that other methods.

In this paper, we propose a new multiresolutional and dynamic approach of the EM algorithm. EM is a very popular and powerful clustering algorithm. EM, however, has problems that indexes multiresolution data and requires a priori information on a proper number of clusters in many applications, To solve such problems, the proposed EM algorithm can impose a multiresolution kd-tree structure in the E-step and allocates a cluster based on sequential data. To validate clusters, we use a merge criteria for cluster merging. We demonstrate the proposed EM algorithm outperforms for texture image segmentation.
Chromatin texture, which partly reflects nuclear organization, is evolving as an important parameter indicating cell activation or transformation. In this study, chromatin pattern was evaluated by image analysis of the electron micrographs of follicular and papillary carcinoma cells of the thyroid gland and tested for discrimination of the two neoplasms. Digital grey images were converted from the electron micrographs, nuclear images, excluding nucleolus and intranuclear cytoplasmic inclusions, were obtained by segmentation; grey levels were standardized; and grey level histograms were generated. The histograms in follicular carcinoma showed Gaussian or near-Gaussian distribution and had a single peak, whereas those in papillary carcinoma had two peaks(bimodal), one at the black zone and the other at the white zone. In papillary carcinoma, the peak in the black zone represented an increased amount of heterochromatin particles and that at the white zone represented decreased electron density of euchromatin or nuclear matrix. These results indicate that the nuclei of follicular and papillary carcinoma cells differ in their chromatin pattern and the difference may be due to decondensed chromatin and/or matrix substances.
In this Paper, we propose a method of content-based image classification using neural network. The images for classification ate object images that can be divided into foreground and background. To deal with the object images efficiently, object region is extracted with a region segmentation technique in the preprocessing step. Features for the classification are texture and shape features extracted from wavelet transformed image. The neural network classifier is constructed with the extracted features and the back-propagation learning algorithm. Among the various texture features, the diagonal moment was more effective. A test with 300 training data and 300 test data composed of 10 images from each of 30 classes shows correct classification rates of 72.3% and 67%, respectively.

Finding a new set of features representing textured images is one of the most important studies in textured image analysis. This is because it is impossible to construct a perfect set of features representing every textured image, and it is inevitable to choose some relevant features which are efficient to on-going image processing jobs. This paper intends to find relevant features which are efficient to textured image segmentation. In this regards, this paper presents a different method for the segmentation of textured images based on the Gabor filter. Gabor filter is known to be a very efficient and effective tool which represents human visual system for texture analysis. Filtering a real-valued input image by the Gabor filter results in complex-valued output data defined in the spatial frequency domain. This complex value, as usual, gives the module and the phase. This paper focused its attention on the phase information, rather than the module information. In fact, the module information is considered very useful at region analysis in texture, while the phase information was considered almost of no use. But this paper shows that the phase information can also be fully useful and effective at region analysis in texture, once a good method introduced. We now propose "phase derivated method", which is an efficient and effective way to compute the useful phase information directly from the filtered value. This new method reduces effectively computing burden and widen applicable textured images.

In this paper we propose the block based image segmentation method using the cyclic properties of hue components in HSI color model. In proposed method we use center point instead of hue mean values as the hue representatives for regions in image segmentation considering hue cyclic properties and we also use directed distance for the hue difference among regions. Furthermore we devise the simple and effective method to get critical values through control parameter to reduce the complexity in the calculation of those in the conventional method. From the experimental results we found that the segmented regions in the proposed method is more natural than those in the conventional method especially in texture and red tone regions. In the simulation results the proposed method is better than the conventional methods in the in the evaluation of the human segmentation dataset presented Berkely Segmentation Database.

The design of optimal filter yielding optimal texture feature separation is a most effective technique in many torture analyzing areas, such as perception of surface, object, shape and depth. But, most optimal filter design approaches are restricted to the issue of computational complexity and supervised problems. In this paper, Our proposed method yields new insight into the design of optimal Gabor filters for segmenting multiple texture images. The optimal frequency of Gator filter is turned to the optimal frequency of the distinct texture in frequency domain. In order to show the performance of the designed filters, we have attempted to build a various texture images. Our experimental results show that the performance of the system is very successful.
Medical imaging is one of the most powerful tools for gaining information about internal organs and tissues. It is a challenging task to develop sophisticated image analysis methods in order to improve the accuracy of diagnosis. The objective of this paper is to develop a Computer Aided Diagnostics (CAD) scheme for Brain Tumour detection from Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) using active contour models and to investigate with several approaches for improving CAD performances. The problem in clinical medicine is the automatic detection of brain Tumours with maximum accuracy and in less time. This work involves the following steps: i) Segmentation performed by Fuzzy Clustering with Level Set Method (FCMLSM) and performance is compared with snake models based on Balloon force and Gradient Vector Force (GVF), Distance Regularized Level Set Method (DRLSE). ii) Feature extraction done by Shape and Texture based features. iii) Brain Tumour detection performed by various tree classifiers. Based on investigation FCMLSM is well suited segmentation method and Random Forest is the most optimum classifier for this problem. This method gives accuracy of 97% and with minimum classification error. The time taken to detect Tumour is approximately 2 mins for an examination (30 slices).

This paper proposes a new method for the parameter estimation in Markov Random Field(MRF) model of textured color images. The MRF models allow an image region to bel described using a finite number of parameters that characterize spatial interactionsl within and between bands of al color image. An important problem is estimation of the parameters since the randorn field model-based textured color image is the mostly parametric images of natural scenes to verify the validit of the proposed method proves that the method is not affected by the size of the image and shows well-segmented images.
