  • For the Gwangyang Ume Flower Festival, this study sought to develop competitive fashion culture goods design and to activate regional culture festival by reinterpreting ume flower image in accordance with current trends, manufacturing motive patterns, and applying them to neckties, scarves, and T-shirts. In terms of method, four basic motives were set that showed new figurative images of ume flowers using Adobe Illustrator 10. The repetitive units of each motive we combined with the ume flower motives and the geometrical patterns, such as quadrangle, triangle, and circle. The basic direction of design was set so that color and texture could have colorful, modern, and natural images using pastel tone and gradation. The set patterns were applied to the repetition, the repetition of the transformed patterns of 45 angle, and the strife patterns, making it possible to display various images in the fashion items such as neckties, scarves, handkerchiefs, or T-shirts. The development of such fashion culture goods seems to be more significant, since they can be easily accessed by general festival participants. Accordingly, the Gwangyang Ume Flower Festival seems to develop not into food-led festival, but into a cultural festival that can publicize more various programs and create profits.

  • An edge is where the intensity of an image moves from a low value to high value or vice versa. The edges tell where objects are. their shape and size. and something about their texture. Many traditional edge operators are derivative based and perform reasonably well for simple noise-free images. In recent, statistical edge detectors for complex images with noises have been described. This paper compares and analysis the performance of statistical edge detectors based on the T test and Wilcoxon test, and mathematical edge detectors based on Sobel operator, and the well-known Canny detector and Wavelet transformation detector, and provides the implementation of these edge detectors using Java on the web.

  • This paper provides the design and implementation of Free Viewpoint TV System with multiple Microsoft Kinects. It generates a virtual view between two views by manipulating texture and depth image captured by Kinects in real-time. In order to avoid this, we propose the hole-filling scheme using Nearest neighbor and inpainting. As a result, holes generated by interference are filled with new depth values calculated by their neighbors. However, the depth values are not accurate, but are similar with their neighbors. And depending on the frequency of running a Nearest Neighbor method, we can see that edge's border would be shifted inner or outer of the object.

  • This study examines the effect of the structural properties of F/W wool knit fabrics for woman's knitwear on the perceptions of textures and sensible images of consumers and present basic data for textile designing by analyzing the relationship among the structural properties, mechanical properties, objective hand measurements and preferences. A total of 12 kinds of knit fabrics were prepared and investigated in terms of the differences in the subjective, mechanical properties and objective hand measurements according to the structural properties of knit fabrics. The data were analyzed by t-test. The subjective hand attributes of wool knits through factor analysis are categorized into 6 factors. In particular, the 'active/comfort' factor is a meaningful result that reflects the unique characteristics of knit fabrics compared to woven fabrics. Mechanical properties and objective hand measurements have a greater effect on textures than on sensible images; in addition, the structural properties, 'gauge' was the most important factor to influence the subjective evaluation.

  • Since modernization period thru Japanese colonial era the modern architect began to play a important role for Korean housing architecture. So called 'House as an Art Work', detached houses by prominent architects, belong to a meaningful sector in Korean modern housing architecture. The harmony with tradition was always big issue for such works. This study aims to understand how paradigms for tradition were interpreted with the changes of the time. The analysis showed various tryout by architects, that concretize traditional characteristics in their work. For example, traditional lifestyle were clearly reflected in the floorplan during 30's and 40's. In the 70's building mass and formative roof design were emphasized to present traditional image. As well as it represented primitive esthetic and vernacular decoration. In addition, expressive tendency, that demonstrates korean sentiment through material and its texture, got a preference. Since latter half of 80's some traditional architectural elements were modernized and space characteristics were newly created from acculturation. Furthermore the philosophy of "Subdivision of building wings and Emptiness" follows this trend. This type made a courtyard and connected articulated building masses each other. "Sympathy with Nature" were most essential for a traditional houses in contrast with western architecture. Many architects today make various method to bring nature into interior space and to contemplate nature In the house. Such kinds of adaptation to tradition could be understood as a unique process to manifest identity of Korean modern houses.

  • Mammogram images are sensitive in nature and even a minor change in the environment affects the quality of the images. Due to the lack of expert radiologists, it is difficult to interpret the mammogram images. In this paper an algorithm is proposed for a computer-aided diagnosis system, which is based on the wavelet based adaptive sigmoid function. The cascade feed-forward back propagation technique has been used for training and testing purposes. Due to the poor contrast in digital mammogram images it is difficult to process the images directly. Thus, the images were first processed using the wavelet based adaptive sigmoid function and then the suspicious regions were selected to extract the features. A combination of texture features and gray-level co-occurrence matrix features were extracted and used for training and testing purposes. The system was trained with 150 images, while a total 100 mammogram images were used for testing. A classification accuracy of more than 95% was obtained with our proposed method.
