Description-Based Multimedia Clipart Retrieval in WWW

  • The Internet today is teemed with not only text data but also other media such as sound, still and moving images in a variety of formats. Unlike text, however, that can be retrieved easily with the help of numerous search engines, there has been few way to access data of other media unless the exact location or the URL is known. Multimedia data in the WWW are contained in or linked via anchors in the hyper-documents. They can most reliably be retrieved by analyzing the binary data content, which is far from being practical yet by the current state of the art. Instead we present another technique of searching based on textual descriptions which are found at or around the multimedia objects. The textual description used in this research includes file name (URL), anchor text and its context, alternative descriptions found in ALT HTML tage. These are actually the clues assumedly relevant to the contents. Although not without a possibility of missing or misinterpreting images and sounds, the description-based search is highly practical in terms of computation. The prototype search engine will soon be deployed to the public service through the prestige search engine, InfoDetective, in Korea.

  • we developed an information management system that manages various types of medical information such as text, image, sound, and laboratory data. We also developed a multimedia description system, in which medical doctors can describe his findings and interpretations with text and speech. The descriptions include the references to the data items stored in the information management systems. The communication between the description system and the information management systems is carried out using OLE/COM mechanism. The information management system was implemented by using Microsoft Open Data Base Connectivity(ODBC).

  • SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language)의 디스크립션은 WIPO(World Intellectual Property Organization) Standard ST.32의 디스크립션과 더불어 자세히 기술되고있다. SGML의 이용에 대한 이점이 강조되고 있으며, 그것은 시스템 독립적이며 특허출판 및 전문 데이터베이스구축에 타당성이 있다는 것이다. WIPO Standard ST.32를 적용한 특허문헌의 내용구조는 ST.32에 따라 작성한 DTD로 표현하고 텍스트 자체는 DTD에 따른 범용 마크업을 사용하여 기술한다. 본고에서는 전체문헌, 특정 서브문서, 문단 등의 계층구조와 표, 도면, 화학구조식 등의 비계층구조로 되어 있는 문서구조를 어떻게 표현하는가에 대하여 예를들어 설명하였다. 그리고 특허 문헌처리에서 SGML의 효과에 대하여 논의하였다.

텍스트 분석을 통한 제품 분류 체계 수립방안: 관광분야 App을 중심으로 (Building a Hierarchy of Product Categories through Text Analysis of Product Description)

  • With the increasing use of smartphone apps, many apps are coming out in various fields. In order to analyze the current status and trends of apps in a specific field, it is necessary to establish a classification scheme. Various schemes considering users' behavior and characteristics of apps have been proposed, but there is a problem in that many apps are released and a fixed classification scheme must be updated according to the passage of time. Although it is necessary to consider many aspects in establishing classification scheme, it is possible to grasp the trend of the app through the proposal of a classification scheme according to the characteristic of the app. This research proposes a method of establishing an app classification scheme through the description of the app written by the app developers. For this purpose, we collected explanations about apps in the tourism field and identified major categories through topic modeling. Using only the apps corresponding to the topic, we construct a network of words contained in the explanatory text and identify subcategories based on the networks of words. Six topics were selected, and Clauset Newman Moore algorithm was applied to each topic to identify subcategories. Four or five subcategories were identified for each topic.

  • With the development of deep learning techniques, text mining is producing breakthrough performance improvements, promising future applications, and practical use cases across many fields. Likewise, even though several attempts have been made in the field of financial information, few cases apply the current technological trends. Recently, companies and government agencies have attempted to conduct research and apply text mining in the field of financial information. First, in this study, we investigate various works using text mining to show what studies have been conducted in the financial sector. Second, to broaden the view of financial application, we provide a description of several text mining techniques that can be used in the field of financial information and summarize various paradigms in which these technologies can be applied. Third, we also provide practical cases for applying the latest text mining techniques in the field of financial information to provide more tangible guidance for those who will use text mining techniques in finance. Lastly, we propose potential future research topics in the field of financial information and present the research methods and utilization plans. This study can motivate researchers studying financial issues to use text mining techniques to gain new insights and improve their work from the rich information hidden in text data.

  • 스트림 암호 시스템을 중심으로 한 카오스 암호 시스템은 원문의 길이가 클수록 암복호화 및 송수신 속도가 떨어지는 단점을 보여왔다. 본 연구에서는 원문의 길이가 길수록 기존의 웹 메일 시스템에 비해 더욱 우수한 성능을 보이고 있는 암호화 웹 메일 시스템을 설계 구현하였다. 암호화 웹 메일 시스템구현에서 키 수열 생성, 원문의 암복호화, 내외부 메일 뷰어 등을 개발하였고, 성능 평가 결과 암복호화 및 송수신 속도에서 우수한 것으로 평가되어 스트림 암호 시스템이 갖는 단점을 보완하였다고 할 수 있다. 앞으로 지속적인 응용 연구를 통해 암호화 기술을 기반으로 한 서버 시스템 보안 및 파일 보안, 인터넷 정보의 보안, 전자 상거래 시스템의 정보 보호 등 여러 분야에서 블록 암호 시스템을 대체할 수 있는 새로운 범용 암호 시스템으로 활용 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

TextRank를 이용한 키워드 정련 -TextRank를 이용한 집단 지성에서 생성된 콘텐츠의 키워드 정련- (Keywords Refinement using TextRank Algorithm)

  • 태그는 콘텐츠를 대표하는 신뢰도가 높은 키워드이다. 하지만 일부 기업과 사람들이 콘텐츠와 관련이 없는 키워드를 태그로 사용하여 본 논문에서는 무분별하게 사용된 키워드를 정련하는 알고리듬을 제안한다. 키워드 정련과 관련된 연구는 진행되지 않았지만, 본 논문에서는 단어와 단어사이에 가상의 링크를 생성, TextRank 알고리듬을 적용하여 콘텐츠에서 단어의 중요도를 계산하여 중요도가 낮은 단어의 일부를 콘텐츠의 제작자가 작성한 키워드에서 제거하여 키워드 정련을 하였다. 그 결과, 단순히 단어의 중요도가 낮은 하위 n%의 단어를 제거하는 방법보다는 신뢰도 구간을 만족할 때까지 제거하는 방법이 훨씬 좋은 키워드 정련 결과를 보였다.

Automatic Name Line Detection for Person Indexing Based on Overlay Text

  • Many overlay texts are artificially superimposed on the broadcasting videos by humans. These texts provide additional information to the audiovisual content. Especially, the overlay text in news videos contains concise and direct description of the content. Therefore, it is most reliable clue for constructing a news video indexing system. To make the automatic person indexing of interview video in the TV news program, this paper proposes the method to only detect the name text line among the whole overlay texts in one frame. The experimental results on Korean television news videos show that the proposed framework efficiently detects the overlaid name text line.

그림책 읽어주기에서 그림책의 종류가 부모의 읽기 행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Text Genre on Parent's Reading Behavior : Joint Picture Book Reading)

  • This study measured various types of joint book reading behaviors of parents of preschool children using two different text genres. Participants were the parents of 35 preschool children 4 years of age. Parent-child dyads were videotaped during periods of joint book reading using two different types of text(informational and narrative). Results indicated differences in maternal behavior between the two types of texts. The informational book elicited a higher amount of print concept behaviors and more content behavior while reading the narrative book. Among content-related behaviors parents used more labeling during the informational genre. On the other hand, parents' use of description and judgment were significantly higher in the narrative genre compared with the informational genre.
