Turkey is a transcontinental country located partly in Asia and partly in Europe, and hosted by diverse civilizations including Hittite, Urartu, Lydia, Phrygia, Pontius, Byzantine, Seljuk's and Ottomans. At various times, these built many historic monuments representing the most significant characteristics of their civilizations. Today, these monuments contribute enormously to the esthetic beauty of environment and important to many cities of Turkey in attracting tourism. The survival of these monuments depends on the investigation of structural behavior and implementation of needed repairing and/or strengthening applications. Hence, many countries have made deeper investigations and regulations to assess their monuments' structural behavior. This paper presents the dynamic behavior investigation of a monumental masonry mosque, the "İskenderpaşa Mosque" in Trabzon (Turkey), by performing an experimental examination with non-destructive testing. The dynamic behavior investigation was carried out by determining the dynamic characteristic called as natural frequencies, mode shapes and damping ratios. The experimental dynamic characteristics were extracted by Operational Modal Analysis (OMA). In addition, Finite Element (FE) model of masonry mosque was constructed in ANSYS software and the numerical dynamic characteristics such as natural frequencies and mode shapes were also obtained and compared to experimental ones. The paper aims at presenting the non-destructive testing procedure of a masonry mosque as well as the comparison of experimental and numerical dynamic characteristics obtained from the mosque.

The advance in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and web services has led to the development of new types of a system in which heterogeneous service components can connect and compose to solve a complex business problem. In the SOA, even though these service components are valid in their functionality, there is a need to test their behaviors when those services are composited. In recent years, WS-BPEL has received a wide acceptance as a means of integrating distributed service components. To test the composite service, the existing testing techniques have been focused on the functional features based on the WS-BPEL process. However as SOA approach is applying to real-time software development, the performance of composite service becomes one of important issues. This paper proposes a technique to the performance testing of a composite service with WS-BPEL extension which combined with the concept of aspect. Our WS-BPEL extension has been made towards annotating aspect component which is measuring the response time of the composite service. This paper also explains the procedure of performance testing with on-line transaction system. Our technique can apply to choose an adequate component in service composition with considering the performance among several candidate web service components.

Korea Electric Power Research Institute in charge of the power IT project "Development of Prototype for Advanced Substation Automation System based on the Digital Control Technology" is performing system verification. Breaker Failure protection IED can operate protection activity by communicating with other IEDs such as T/L IED, owing to IEC 61850 international standard and digital substation automation system. Accordingly, IED testing process should be changed from the conventional way by electrical contact test on individual IED to system based testing method by network communication. This paper describes how to test BF IED based on substation automation system and testing procedures using UML, which is used to implement S/W design.
Purpose: Although the development of bulletproof helmets continues to be carried out, little has been improved in testing methods. Therefore, in this study, we studied the improvement of the test method of the domestic bulletproof helmet. Methods: The causes of head damage in the battlefield and the trends of bulletproof helmet development in developed countries were analyzed. In addition, improvements were derived by comparing the test methods of bulletproof helmet in Korea and the United States. Results: The results of the improvement by comparing the test methods of bulletproof helmet in Korea and the United States are as follows First, it is an addition to the scope of environmental treatment. Second, it is an addition to the level of protection. Third, the addition of the level of protection by impact. Conclusion: This study considered testing methods to prevent head injuries to shocks that cannot be identified by conventional methods. In addition, it considered testing methods for various threats by improving protection performance to advanced countries' levels.
The across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings with various geometric dimensions were investigated through a series of wind tunnel testing. The lift coefficients, power spectral densities and vertical correlation coefficients of the across-wind loads were analyzed and discussed in details. Taking the side ratio and terrain category as key variables, empirical formulas for estimating the across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings were proposed on the basis of the wind tunnel testing results. Comparisons between the predictions by the empirical formulas and the wind tunnel test results were made to verify the accuracy and applicability of the proposed formulas. Moreover, a simplified procedure to evaluate the across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings was derived from the proposed formulas. This study aims to provide a simple and reliable way for the estimation of across-wind dynamic loads on L-shaped tall buildings.

The paper presents a numerical study to evaluate the phase velocities and attenuations of the average longitudinal and shear ultrasonic waves resulting from multiple scattering in fiber-reinforced composites. A computational procedure developed in this work is first used to produce a random, yet largely even distribution of fibers. Both the viscoelastic epoxy matrix and lossless randomly distributed graphite fibers are modeled using the mass-spring-dashpot lattice model, with no damping for the latter. By numerically simulating ultrasonic through-transmission tests using this direct model of composites, phase velocities and attenuations of the longitudinal and shear waves through the composite are found as functions of frequency or fiber concentration. The numerical results are observed to generally agree with the corresponding results in the literature. Discrepancies found in some detail aspects, particularly in the attenuation results, are also addressed.

This paper proposes two test procedures for detecting functional faults in semiconductor random access memories (RAM's) and a new testimg scheme to execute the proposed test procedures. The first test procedure detects stuck-at faults, coupling faults and decoder faults, and requires 19N operations, which is an improvement over conventional procedures. The second detects restricted patternsensitive faults and requires 69N operations. The proposed scheme uses Built-In Self Testing (BIST) techniques. The scheme can write into more memory cells than I/O pins can in a write cycle in test mode. By using the scheme, the number of write operations is reduced and then much testing time is saved.

Testing standards both nationally and abroad for high flowing concrete are presented about slump flow and the time to reach 500 mm. However, the slump flow testing method to measure flow properties of high flowing concrete results in measurement error due to the differences in each person's perception of the test. This study introduced laser diode to reduce such testing errors from personal differences in experimental procedure.

Dynamic pile loading test using PDA was introduced in 1994. Because of its economy and relatively easy and simple procedure, the number of PDA application increased quite rapidly. It is assumed that more than 10,000 dynamic pile loading tests are done annually. While the number of testing increases sharply, the quality of the tests does not really improve but the number of serious problems due to improper testing increases. According to the limited experiences of the authors, the common problems found in most of the cases are caused by ignorance of the most basic and fundamental requirements. In this paper some case histories are explained and the proposed solution is introduced.

In this paper, we consider the hypothesis testing for the homogeneity of the shape parameters in the gamma distributions. The noninformative priors such as Jeffreys# prior or reference prior are usually improper which yields a calibration problem that makes the Bayes factor to be defined up to a multiplicative constant. So we propose the objective Bayesian testing procedure for the homogeneity of the shape parameters based on the fractional Bayes factor and the intrinsic Bayes factor under the reference prior. Simulation study and a real data example are provided.
