Influence of e-HRM and Human Resources Service Quality on Employee Performance

  • This study aims to analyze the relationship of e-HRM implementation to employee performance both directly and indirectly through the intervening of the Human Resource service Quality variable, both practically and theoretically. This study uses variance-based structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques with partial least square (PLS) statistical testing tools to test the direct relationship of e-HRM and the performance and relationship moderated by Human Resources service quality tested on 200 civil servants in five offices under the coordination of the Government of the South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. The data collection model in this study uses an online survey. The data analysis stages through the explanatory concept consist of, first, the interpretation of the distribution of the average frequency of respondents' answers; second, outer-loading; third, determination of the validity and reliability; fourth, the coefficient of determination test and partial test; fifth, the GoF model; sixth, validity test; and seventh, hypothesis testing. This study explores four hypotheses in a comprehensive fashion; the results of this study show that all hypotheses have positive and significant effects both through direct and intervening relationships. Among the three direct relationships, the relationship of e-HRM variables on HR Service Quality is greatest and most dominant.

An Engle-Granger and Johansen Cointegration Approach in Testing the Validity of Fisher Hypothesis in the Philippines

  • This study contributes to the existing literature and tries to analyze the validity of the Fisher hypothesis in the Philippines. Using monthly data from January 1995 to December 2020, the empirical analysis used the Engle-Granger and Johansen cointegration testing technique. The correlation coefficient suggests a strong positive association. All things being equal, a rise in inflation leads to a rise in the nominal interest rate. The unit-root tests show that inflation and the nominal interest rate are both stationary. Based on both Engle-Granger and cointegrating regression Durbin-Watson tests, the nominal interest rate and inflation are cointegrated. Likewise, the results from Johansen cointegration indicate that there exists a long-run relationship between the variables. However, we rejected a one-to-one relationship between nominal interest rate and inflation. The error correction term coefficient (ECM) shows that it is statistically significant suggesting that the nominal interest rate adjusts to the inflation rate with a lag. The Pair-wise Granger Causality test reported a bi-directional causal relationship between nominal interest rate and inflation. Inflation targeting has been the monetary policy framework of choice for most central banks. In essence, the conclusions of this study are useful to central banks because they help them better comprehend the long-run equilibrium relationship between the nominal interest rate and inflation.

Testing Reliability and Validity of Reduced Substitutes for Leadership Scales(rd-SLS) (단축형 리더십 대체요인 척도의 신뢰도 및 타당도 검정)

  • Purpose: This paper was conducted to test the reliability and validity of rd-SLS, developed by Podsakoff, et al. (1993) which measured 'substitutes for leadership'. Method: The subjects were 345 nurses in 5 general hospitals. Cronbach's and the Guttman split-half coefficient were used to test the reliability of rd-SLS. Factor analysis, and the correlations of the rv-SLS and SLS with rd-SLS were used for convergent and discriminant validity. Result: Cronbach's data was 0.76 and the Guttman split-half coefficient was 0.52. Twelve factors evolved by factor analysis, which explained $70.4\%$ of the total variance. This result was similar to previous study results. However, 'Indifference toward organizational rewards'-related items were classified two factors. It was not clear t hat the rd-SLS consisted of 13 concepts(factors). The correlations of the rv-SLS and SLS with the rd-SLS were 0.93 and 0.87 respectively. Conclusion: The rd-SLS showed a moderate degree of validity and reliability. Thus, it is recommended to use the rd-SLS in general nursing organizations for screening for leadership substitutes. In addition, it is necessary to clarify the concept of organizational rewards. In a further study, the factor structure of the rd-SLS may be considered.

Development of a Task Performance Evaluation Instrument for Clinical Nurses (임상간호사의 업무수행 평정도구개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument of task performance evaluation for clinical nurses, thus testing the validity and the reliability of the scale. Method: Data was collected from 84 Head Nurses and 255 General Nurses. A conceptual framework, composed of 4 factors of meaning in task performance evaluation, was identified through review of the relevant literature. A total of 78 items were developed and were used on a five-point likert scale. Through factor analysis, items whose factor loading was below 0.50 were deleted, thus 35 items remained. To test the validity and reliability of the instrument, the SPSS 11.0 windows program was used. Result: The results of the factor analysis indicated that 4 factors were classified and the cumulative percent of variance was 67.54%. The results of the reliability test indicated that Cronbach's coefficient of the total 35 items was over 0.9176. The results of the factor analysis indicated that factor loadings of all items was over 0.50. Conclusively, the validity and the reliability of the scale were proven. Conclusion: This study was identified as a tool with a high degree of reliability and validity.

The Development of the Nursing Organization Culture Measurement tool (간호조직문화 측정도구 개발을 위한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a nursing organization culture measurement tool and to test the validity and reliability of the tool. Method: This study conducted in three phases. In phase 1, theoretical framework choice, Phase 2, measurement items selection, Phase 3, testing of validity and reliability. In order to test validity and reliability of the measurement, data were collected from 915 nurses, working in the 22 hospitals with more 500 beds. The data obtatined were analyzed by SPSS-Win 10.0 program using percentages, Factor Analysis, Cronbach's alpha Coefficients. Result: As a result of the study, nursing organization culture measurement scale was consisted of 20 items, 4 factors. 4 factor explained 60.54% of the total variance, and the Cronbach's alpha of this scale was .8829. Conclusions: The Study supports the validity and reliability of the scales. Therefore, this scale can be effectively utilized for the evaluation of nursing organization culture in hospital setting.

Development of Nursing Competence Scale for Graduating Nursing Students (졸업을 앞둔 간호학생의 핵심간호역량 측정도구 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a nursing competence scale for soon to be graduate nursing students and to verify its validity and reliability. Methods: This study is a methodological study for development of a scale. Based on literature review and group discussion of 13 professional experts, 40 preliminary items were developed and the content validity was verified. Psychometric testing was performed and data were collected from 141 soon to be graduate nursing students of a university. Construct validity was verified by factor analysis and reliability was calculated. Results: The analyses resulted in a scale named the Nursing Competence Scale for Graduating Nursing Students (NCS-GNS), consisting of 30 items covering eight categories: nursing professionalism, integrated nursing through critical thinking, communication skills, nursing leadership, respect for life, stress management, nursing research, and core nursing skills. For the entire scale, the explained variance was 66.72% and Cronbach's alpha was 0.906. Conclusion: NCS-GNS was developed and its validity and reliability were verified. This scale can be used to evaluate nursing competence for graduating nursing students.

A Study on the Development of the Learning Organization Measurement (학습조직화 측정도구 개발을 위한 연구)

  • Purpose : The Purposes of this study was to develop a learning organization measurement for nurses, and to test the validity and reliability of the measurement. Method : This study was conducted through 3 phases -theoretical framework choice, measurement items selection, and the testing of validity and reliability. In order to test reliability and validity of the measurement, data were collected from the 261 nurses, working in the 1 hospital with more 800 beds. The data obtained were analyzed by SPSS for Window program using percentages, Factor Analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficients. Result : As a result of the study, 2 scales -Learning Organization Building Scale, and Knowledge Management Process Scale- were developed. Learning Organization Building Scale was consisted of 23 items, 5 factors. 5 factors explained 60.26% of the total variance, and the Cronbach's alpha of this scale was .8807. Knowledge Management Process Scale was consisted of 17 items, 4 factors. 4 factors explained 66.14% of the total variance, and the Cronbach's alpha of this scale was .9147. Conclusion : The Study supports the validity and reliability of the scales. Therefore, these scales can be effectively utilized for many researches about Learning organization of Nurse, and Nursing organization in the Hospital Setting.

Development of a Coping Scale for Infertility-Women (CSI-W) (여성의 난임 대처 측정도구 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a Coping Scale for Infertility-Women (CSI-W). Methods: The initial items were based on an extensive literature review and in-depth interviews with seven infertile women. Forty-three items were derived from a pilot survey. Data were collected from 216 women who had experienced intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in-vitro fertilization (IVF) more than once. The data were analyzed to verify the reliability and validity of the scale. Results: Seven factors containing 28 items (four factors containing 17 items for active coping and three factors containing 11 items for passive coping) were extracted from the exploratory factor analysis to verify the construct validity. The four factors of active coping were confrontation, self-control, seeking social support (spouse), and seeking social support (colleagues and experts). The three factors of passive coping were distancing, escape, and avoidance. These items were verified through convergent, discriminant, and concurrent validity testing. The internal consistency reliability was acceptable (active coping: Cronbach's α = .78; passive coping: Cronbach's α = .81). Conclusion: As its validity and reliability have been verified through various methods, the CSI-W can contribute to assessing the coping strategies of infertile women.

Development of the Forensic Nursing Competency Scale for Nurses (간호사의 법의간호 역량 측정도구 개발)

  • Purpose : This study aims to develop the Forensic Nursing Competency Scale suitable to South Korea. Methods : The initial items were generated through literature review and interviews. Items were evaluated by experts for content and face validity. By conducting a pilot test, 74 measurement items were developed. In total, 333 copies of the questionnaire were analyzed regarding the validity and reliability of the study. Data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 program and AMOS 18.0 program. Results : The study selected 53 questions after testing the content, face, and construct validity of the scale. The final 53 questions were composed of 15 sub-components in eight domains. These eight domains encompassed nursing practice, communication, critical thinking, human caring and relationships, evidence management, active information collection, professional development, and knowledge integration. Conclusions : In order to verify the effectiveness of the scale, future studies need to compare the forensic nursing competency in two groups to assess differences in these competency. Moreover, it is necessary to develop a forensic nursing educational program and validate its effectiveness by using this scale.

The Development of a Homecare Nursing Assessment Tool for Terminal Cancer Patients (말기암환자의 가정간호 사정도구 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a homecare nursing assessment tool for terminal cancer patients, testing the validity and reliability of the tool. Methods: This was a methodological study. The tool was developed in four stages: first, preliminary items were developed based on Gordon' functional health pattern model; second, a panel of specialists reduced the number of preliminary items using validity tests for content; third, final items were selected from the results of a pre-test. Finally, from August 4th, 2011 to August 26th, 2011, reliability and validity were tested using a sample of 125 terminal cancer patients in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Results: The final tool consisted of 39 items, with Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ 0.70. Using factor analysis, 10 factors were extracted; the correlation coefficient of these was over 0.3. Conclusion: The tool developed in this study was identified as having a high degree of reliability and validity. Given this, the tool can be effectively utilized for implementing and improving home care for patients with terminal cancer.
