It is undertaken systematization of results of satellite and ground observation parameters characterizing a current condition and climatic variability of two selected geographical areas. One of them covers territory of Azerbaijan and another covers a wide area of Caspian See region. Average values and mean square deviations of following values are investigated: outgoing long wave radiation during a day and night (in nebulosity and cloudless). absorbed within a day of the stream of a sunlight of the system in "a terrestrial surface-atmosphere". degree of a covering by clouds of the selected areas during a day and at night, ground temperature values of air. pressure and speed of a wind. Monthly average values of corresponding parameters create a basis of suggested investigations. It has been presented features of a time course of investigated parameters for each month and year in the whole due to the continuously observations since 1982-2000. The scientific problem consists that there are no existed models which authentically would be cover the main aspects of a realities specified changes: they are identified by economic activities. growth of the population and other features of development of a human society or internal fluctuations of biogeophysical/climatic system. Possibilities of predictability of biosphere and climate changes depend on available timely supervision. adequacy of construction of appropriate models. understanding of mechanisms of direct and feedback influences in such complicated systems.

The urban stream includes the channel and sandbars. The sandbar plays a key role in the riparian ecosystem. For birds and insects the sandbar offers a small strip of habitat and fish and other fauna feed in the boundary of sandbar where eddies occur. So, it is important habitat and source for the flow of energy, matter and organisms through the landscape and act as ecotone between the terrestrial and stream corridors. However, the sandbar changes continuously by the natural process. Thus, it is necessary to measure the shape and area of the sandbar accurately for the efficient urban stream management for the amenity of urban residents and stream protection. The study site is Yangjae Stream where the first natural-style urban stream restoration projected was impelemented by the support of Ministry of Education in Korea. The measurement was taken by the beacon Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) and the data were stored and analyzed using ArcView Geographic Information System (GIS) program. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to measure the change of sandbars in the urban stream after concentrated stormwater during summer.
Green communication is a new paradigm of designing the communication system which considers not only the processing performance but also the energy efficiency. Power control management is one of the approaches in green communication to reduce the power consumption in distributed communication system. In this paper, we propose improved power control schemes for mobile satellite systems with ancillary terrestrial components (ATCs). In order to increase system capacity and reduce the transmitting power of the user's equipment, we propose an efficient channel estimation method consisting of a modified open-loop power control (OLPC) and closed-loop power control (CLPC). The OLPC works well if the forward and reverse links are perfectly correlated. The CLPC is sensitive to round-trip delay and, therefore, it is not effective in a mobile satellite system. In order to solve the above problem, we added monitoring equipment to both the OLPC and CLPC to use information about transmitting power that has not yet been received by the receiver over the satellite/ATC channel. Moreover, we adapted an efficient pilot diversity of both OLPC and CLPC in order to get a better signal to interference plus noise ratio estimation of the received signal.

Marine biotechnology is one of the promising frontier of scientific exploration and commercial utilization for the next century. Compared with the terrestrial environment, the oceans of the world remain largely unexplored and include a major portion of bio-resources. Using the tools of biotechnology, the vast and diverse marine resources can be applied to produce new products and foods. Marine biotechnology has the characteristics of pro-environment, saying energy, and intensive knowledge. Therefore, we can take advantage of the marine biotechnology industry under our situation with the poor natural resources. The study focuses on the current status and administrative supports on marine biotechnology industry for upgrading the economic value of output. The status of our marine biotechnology industry is beginning stage in the economic aspects. Manpower and the level of most technologies are weaker than the ones of the advanced countries. More investment and recruiting skilled specialists are necessary because the improvement of marine biotechnology is depend on the technology and scientists. This study suggests the ways of administrative supports for domestic marine biotechnology: Efficient information network and supporting system for the development of marine biotechnology should be interrelated with other technical and scientific fields; The government should provide sustainable fund for the long-term research project and the infrastructure in the marine biotechnology.

Underwater communication, which is used acoustic channel of 1500[m/s] speed being different of wireless electric wave in terrestrial communication, is sensitive on water temperature and salinity and also affected from 3D underwater space. 3D underwater communication is sensitive on propagation loss of acoustic wave and underwater noise with complexity of communication space. In this paper, transmission performance with consideration of these characteristics of 3D underwater communication environments is measured and analyzed on MANET operated on 3D underwater communication environments. Some underwater MANET operation conditions will be suggested. Computer simulation with underwater simulator based on NS-2 will be used for performance measure, performance parameter like as throughput, transmission delay, packet loss rate and consumed energy will be used in simulation for performance measure.

The heat exchange between the Borehole Heat Exchanger(BHE) and the surrounding ground depends directly on ground thermal conductivity k at the certain site. The k is thus a key parameter in designing BHE and coupled geothermal heat pump systems. Currently, although a thermal hydraulic Response Test(TRT) is mostly used in practice, the thermal hydraulic TRT needs additional power and is generally time-consuming. A new, simple wireless probe for hi-speed k determination was introduced in this paper. This technique using a wireless probe is less time-consuming and requires no external source of energy for measurement and predicts local thermal properties by measuring soil temperatures along the depth. Measured temperature data along the depth was analyzed. As a result, the electronic wireless probe can replace the conventional hydraulic TRT method after carrying out the additional research on a lot of local heat flow, etc.

The underwater environments are quite different from the terrestrial ones in terms of the communication channel and constrains. In underwater wireless sensor network, the probability of node failure is high because sensor nodes are deployed in more harsh environments than the ground based networks and moved by waves and currents. There are researches considering the communication environments of underwater to improve the data transmission throughput. In this paper, we present a checkpointing scheme of the cluster heads that recoveries from a cluster head failure quickly. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme enhances the reliability of the networks and more efficient in terms of the energy consumption and the recovery latency than without checkpointing.
Annual collective dose within 50 miles radius of Ko-ri I reactor site due to normal airborne effluent discharges in 1979 has been estimated by AIRDOS-EPA computer code. Gaussian plume equation is used for estimation of both horizontal and vertical dispersion of radionuclide release into the atmosphere. Also, radionuclide concentrations in meat, milk, and fresh produce consumed by near-by population are estimated by coupling the output of the atmospheric transport models with the USNRC terrestrial food chain models. Annual collective doses are found to be $3.348{\times}10^{-1}$ whole body manrem and 84.95 thyroid manrem. Whole body manrem calculated by AIRDOS-EPA computer code do not differ greatly from that calculated by GASPAR computer code, but value for thyroid manrem have been estimated lower than that calculated by GASPAR computer code.
The Yellow Sea experienced glacio-eustasy sea-level fluctuations during the Quaternary period. In the middle part of the Yellow Sea, the Quaternary successions were accumulated by alternating terrestrial, paralic, and shallow marine deposits that reflected the fluctuating sea levels. A long core of 69.2 m was acquired at the YMGR-102 site (33°50.1782'N and 123°48.3019'E) at a depth of 72.5 m in the middle of the Yellow Sea. A four-layered geoacoustic model was reconstructed for the sedimentary succession. It was based on seismic characteristics from 3.5 kHz SBP and air-gun seismic profiles and 96 grain-size properties in the core sample from YMGR-102. For the underwater simulation and experiments, the in-situ P-wave speeds were calculated using the sound speed ratio of the Hamilton method. The geoacoustic model of YMGR-102 can contribute to the reconstruction of geoacoustic models, reflecting the vertical and lateral variability of the acoustic properties in the continental shelf of the middle Yellow Sea.

Evaporation is an essential parameter in Global water-energy cycle and the variability of evaporation affects water resources planning and managements. In this study, the temporal variability of pan evaporation data was analyzed and trend analysis of the data using Mann-Kendall test. The relationships among evaporation and rainfall, air temperature, humidity, cloudness were analyzed. Even though the longterm trends of air temperature and rainfall increases, that of evaporation except Jinju and Yeosoo results decreases as worldwide observations. Results demonstrate that decrease of pan evaporation represents increase of terrestrial evaporation as Brutsaert and Parlange(1998)'s analysis.
