  • Compact fluorescent lamps are very sensitive to the variation of ambient temperature. This paper investigates the temperature characteristics of a 15[W] compact fluorescent lamp, and compensates the variation of light output by frequency control of its electronic ballast. Circuit parameters for the inverter of the electronic ballast are obtained by analyzing the R-L-C equivalent circuit for the inverter and the lamp. The optimum ratio of the two capacitance($C_1$/$C_2$), which are connected with the lamp in series and in parallel, respectively, is determined which consideration of the temperature variation within a range of 10~35[$^{\circ}C$]. As a result a value of 10 for the ratio is obtained at an operating frequency of 57[kHz], and with this value the frequency control works well for temperature compensation. Its validity is verified by investigating light output stabilization characteristics resulting from frequency control of the lamp at various temperatures.

  • A 70 MHz temperature-compensated on-chip CMOS relaxation oscillator for mobile display driver ICs is proposed to reduce frequency variations. The proposed oscillator compensates for frequency variation with respect to temperature by adjusting the bias currents to control the change in delay of comparators with temperature. A bandgap reference (BGR) is used to stabilize the bias currents with respect to temperature and supply voltages. Additional temperature compensation for the generated frequency is achieved by optimizing the resistance in the BGR after measuring the output frequency. In addition, a trimming circuit is implemented to reduce frequency variation with respect to process. The proposed relaxation oscillator is fabricated using 45 nm CMOS technology and occupies an active area of $0.15mm^2$. The measured frequency variations with respect to temperature and supply voltages are as follows: (i) ${\pm}0.23%$ for changes in temperature from -30 to $75^{\circ}C$, (ii) ${\pm}0.14%$ for changes in $V_{DD1}$ from 2.2 to 2.8 V, and (iii) ${\pm}1.88%$ for changes in $V_{DD2}$ from 1.05 to 1.15 V.

  • This paper describes the bending traveling-wave type ultrasonic motor which generates the traveling wave by combining two standing waves with phase difference time and space. In +2$0^{\circ}C$~3$0^{\circ}C$, the operation characteristic of USM has represented normal condition. But in the other temperature, the operation characteristic of USM has abnormal condition, that is driving frequency, drive current and r.p.m are down. The recent USM has controller without temperature compensation. This study aimed at fuzzy controller which must follow the frequency at operation temperature and then r.p.m and torque increased.

  • The electromechanical energy conversion conditioning and processing implementation in USM direct motion control system is generally divided into two power stages: the two-phase high-frequency ac power inversion stage for driving piezoelectric ceramic PZT transducer array off the USM stator and the mechanical thrust power conversion stage based on the frictional force between the piezo electric stator array and the rotary slider of the USM. However, the dynamic and steady-state mathematical modeling of the USM is extremely default from a theoretical point of view because it contains many complicated an nonlinear characteristics dependant on operation temperature. In +2$0^{\circ}C$~3$0^{\circ}C$, the operating characteristics of the USM has represented normal condition. But the other temperature, it has abnormal condition so that driving frequency, current and motor speed will be down. The recent USM has controller without temperature compensation. This study represents the fuzzy controller for speed compensation according to operating temperature by driving frequency.

  • Since a gas turbine is still a significant contributor to peak time, it is very important to tune the gains of P. I. D to get a maximum power and stability within permissible limits. In the gas turbine, the main control loop must adjust the fuel flow to ensure the correct output power and frequency. but it is not easy, because the control loop is composed of many subsystems. In this paper we acquire a transfer function based on the operations data of Gun-san gas turbine and study to apply a loop compensation type 2-DOF PID controller tuning by neural-network to control loop of gas turbine to reduce phenomena caused by integral and derivative actions through simulation. We obtained satisfactory results to disturbances of subcontrol loop such as, fuel flow, air flow, turbine extraction temperature.

  • In this study, the BaTiO$\sub$3/ capacitor add to MnO$\sub$2/ like depressor and shifter were investigated for temperature or voltage compensation by structural and electrical analysis. The relative density of BCTM, generating poly crystall and formation of lattice defect, has a 90[%] over as the CaTiO$\sub$3/ come out to control grain size. The current density of BCTM2 increased non-ohmic in high-electric field but that BCTM3 and BCTM4 had a few changing. The BCTM3 and BCTM4 unformated grain boundary shown temperature compensation properties, so that the dielectric constant was low value. The curie point was near 140[.deg. C] in BCTM1 and BCTM4, but BCTM3 and BCTM4 not shown the curie point. It is found that the charging energy of BCTM4 was changed 6[%] according to rising temperature from room temperature to 417[K]. The formation of BaMnO$\sub$3/ was low dielectric constant to change frequency and temperature.

  • A compensation method of the motor parameters using zero sequence third harmonic voltage is presented for the speed sensorless vector control of the induction motor considering saturation of the flux. Generally, the air-gap flux of the saturated induction motor contains the space harmonic components rotating with the synchronous frequency of the motor. Because the EMF of the saturated induction motor contains the zero sequence harmonic voltages at the neutral point of the motor, those harmonic voltages can be used as a saturation index. In this work, the rotor flux observer is firstly designed for the speed sensorless vector control of induction motor. And a novel measurement method of the space harmonic voltage and a compensation method of th LPF(Low Pass Filter) are proposed. For compensating the non-linear variations of the magnetizing inductance depending on the saturation level of the motor, the dominant third harmonic voltage of the motor is used as a saturation function of the air-gap flux. And the variation of the stator resistance owing to the motor temperature can also be measured with the phase angle between the impressed voltage vector and the zero sequence voltage. The validity of the proposed parameter compensation scheme in the speed sensorless vector control using rotor flux observer is verified by the result of the simulations and the experiments.

  • In the vector control methods of induction motor, the stator current is divided into the flux and torque component current. By controlling these components respectively, the methods control independently flux and torque as in the DC motor and improve the control effects. To apply the vector control methods, the position of the rotor current is identified. The indirect vector control use the parameters of the machine to identify the position of rotor flux. But due to the temperature rise during machine operation, the variation of rotor resistance degrades the vector control. To solve the problem, the q-axis is aligned to reference frame without phase difference by comparing the real flux component with the reference flux component. Then to compensate the slip, PI controller is used. The proposed method keeps a constant slip by compensating the gain of direct slip frequency when the rotor resistance of induction motor varies. To prove the validations of the proposed algorithm in the paper, computer simulations is executed.

  • Electric vehicles (EVs) require fast torque response and high drive efficiency. This paper describes a control scheme of fuzzy direct torque control of permanent magnet synchronous motor for EVs. This control strategy is extensively used in EV application. With direct torque control (DTC), the electromagnetic torque and stator flux can be estimated using the measured stator voltages and currents. The estimation depends on motor parameters, except for the stator resistance. The variation of stator resistance due to changes in temperature or frequency downgrades the performance of DTC, which is controlled by introducing errors in the estimated flux linkage vector and the electromagnetic torque. Thus, compensation for the effect of stator resistance variation becomes necessary. This work proposes the estimation of the stator resistance and its compensation using a proportional-integral estimation method. An electronic differential has been also used, which has the advantage of replacing loose, heavy, and inefficient mechanical transmission and mechanical differential with a more efficient, light, and small electric motors that are directly coupled to the wheels through a single gear or an in-wheel motor.
