Reducing the Interference in Compact MIMO Antennas of CRLH-TL-Based Broadside-Capacitive and Slot Couplings

  • In this paper, the interference in small MIMO antennas having two identical composite right- and left-handed transmission-line(CRLH-TL)-based radiating elements is remarkably decreased. The radiating element has the broadside-capacitive coupling as well as slots to be equivalent to the CRLH-TL to prevent the size from increasing for an LTE high band. The suspended line bridging the two radiating elements is optimized to lower the interference between them down to -23 dB, while the overall MIMO antenna system is compact and its antenna performance is acceptable. The design is tested for 2.5 GHz.

  • Embedded systems widely used for wireless communication such as W-LAN, Bluetooth and ZigBee operate on ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band but they can be seriously affected by electromagnetic interference radiated from ISM apparatus. Therefore C.I.S.P.R. reports proposed limits for the protection of telecommunication from interference from ISM equipment. In this paper, we clarify the methods for calculating limits for disturbance signal for Embedded Systems in ISM band and propose simple way of calculating limits for interference signal in both above and below 1 GHz band cases.

  • In this paper, we deal with the development of an optimal design program for a dual-band of 0.92 GHz and 2.45 GHz with shorting pin and slot by using evolution strategy. the optimal shorting pin, coaxial feed and H-shaped patch are determined by using an optimal design program based on the evolution strategy. To achieve this, an interface program between a commercial EM analysis tool and the optimal design program is constructed for implementing the evolution strategy technique that seeks a global optimum of the objective function through the iterative design process consisting of variation and reproduction. The resonance frequencies of the dual-band antenna yielded by the optimal design program are 0.92 GHz and 2.45 GHz that show a good agreement to the design target values.

  • A coupler is a microwave passive component used for power coupling or dividing. Regarding the trend of current telecommunication systems it is highly desirable for monolithic integration of passive components as such LTCC(Low temperature cofired ceramics) technology offers potential advantage in size, cost and performance. Utilizing LTCC technology a 1608 size type dual band coupler for DCS and EGSM band was fabricated. Its characteristics such as coupling, insertion loss, isolation and directivity was measured and compared with simulation results.

  • In this paper, a novel compact broadband dual frequency microstrip antenna is presented. The meander type patch has been designed to have dual resonant frequencies, and the ground with slot was employed to expand the bandwidth in WCDMA band. The simulated results were obtained using HFSS, and the measurement on the proposed antenna was conducted in an anechoic chamber equipped with a network analyzer and a far field measurement system. As a result, measured maximum gain of antenna is 2.07$\sim$2.87 dBi in the GSM band and 3.91$\sim$5.61 dBi in the WCDMA band.

  • In this paper, we will design a 800MHz broadband antenna after a problem of the narrow bandwidth is improved. This multiple band antenna unifies the CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access), GSM(Global System for Mobile telecommunication) and TRS(Trunked Radio System) band in the UHF bandwidth, and then it is possible at the shore base station or repeater as the commercial use. It used the duplex resonance effect It had the L-shaped feeding structure which adds the V-slot. And it improved profit using stack structure. It was measured that the frequency bandwidth of the designed antenna which is planed $792{\sim}1040MHz$ with 248MHz(33%). And the antenna gain is 9.4dBi, 3dB beam width $60^{\circ}$ in radiation pattern.

  • In this paper, Ku-band low phase noise oscillator using DSRR structure resonator based on metamaterial was proposed. To improve the phase noise of the oscillator, the proposed resonator consist of a DSRR strcuture based on metamaterial. The proposed resonator have a characteristic of $S_{11}$ is -0.25 dB, and $S_{21}$ in -44.59 dB at 14.67 GHz, respectively. At 14.67 GHz, the proposed Ku-band low phased oscillator achieves a output power of 2.03 dBm, $2^{nd}$ harmonic of -36.04 dBc, and phase noise of -130.63 dBc at the 100 kHz offset, respectively.

  • In this paper, we have designed microstrip antenna of 800[MHz] band. It will be able to integrate TRS(Trunked Radio System), GSM(Global System for Mobile telecommunication) band including the CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) band. we designed repeater and a base station antenna which is possible at the ship and marine of safety. It is improves a narrow bandwidth problem of microstrip antenna. It had L-shaped feeding structure at a rectangular patch and added the parallel L-slot that used a duplex resonance effect. Also for the improvement of profit the stack with the perpendicular. Designed frequency bandwith(VSWR 2:1) of the antenna showed good characteristic of 789${\sim}$1046[MHz] to 292[MHz](36%). Also the E-plan and H-plan all profit 6.4[dBi] above, the 3[dB] beam width showed the characteristic over the E-plan $44.7^{\circ} and H-plan $61.8^{\circ} to be improved.

  • This study measured the radio environment of 10 domestic institutions with CubeSat ground stations for 24 hours in three frequency bands (VHF/UHF/S-band) allocated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The impact of the RF environment around the ground stations on CubeSat downlink frequencies was analysed and compared with acceptable interference noise requirements from the CubeSat RF link. The findings indicate that not only the selection of downlink frequency but also the configuration of RF communication link design and ground station system of CubeSat should consider the S-band RF environment around the ground station due to the presence of several wireless devices.

  • Software defined radar (SDR) is a multi-purpose radar system where most of the hardware processing is performed by software. This paper introduces a concept and technology trends of software defined radar, and addresses the advantages and limitations of the current SDR radar systems. For the advanced SDR concept, the KAU SDR Model (KSM) is presented for the multimode and multiband radar system operating in S-, X-, and K-bands. This SDR consists of a replaceable multiband antenna and RF hardware, common digital processor module with multimode, and open software platform based on MATLAB and LabVIEW. The new concept of the SDR radar can be useful in various applications of the education, traffic monitoring and safety, security, and surveillance depending on the various radar environments.
