몰입형 기가미디어 서비스 플랫폼 기술 개발 동향 (Trends in Immersive Giga Media Service Platform)

  • This study focuses on the ongoing immersive Giga Media service platform technology developed by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute(ETRI) for various projects of the Giga KOREA Foundation[1] to achieve a smart ICT environment including wireless-based Giga service by 2020. This technology enables an immersive realistic Tele-Experience service that supports immersive real-world interaction as if sharing one's surroundings in a particular location through a high-speed network among remote users. It is expected to contribute greatly to the activation of smart ICT.

The Communication Satellite Transponder Testing by EGSE System

  • EGSE is used to check out satellite payload during the development prior to launch. The EGSE represented in this paper is a test system for Ka band communication transponder of COMS. The EGSE consist of two subsystems as CTS subsystem and PCTS subsystem. Communication Test subsystem (CTS) performs satellite transponder RF performance testing, data analysis and trending. Most of transponder RF performances are automatically tested by the CTS subsystem. Power, Command & Telemetry subsystem (PCTS) monitor telemetry messages from the transponder and send tele-commands to satellite transponder for the configuration change. PCTS also provide simulated S/C power to the transponder during the ground validation testing. The EGSE test functions are verified by the transponder simulator testing and will be used for the flight model transponders testing.

  • 방송과 통신 서비스가 분리된 형태에서 융합의 형태로 변화되면서 IPTV서비스가 발전하고 있다. IPTV는 기존의 TV와 달리 상호작용을 통한 서비스가 가능하여 시청자의 다양한 요구를 수용 할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 특히, 시청자간의 소통 뿐 아니라 시청자와 TV간의 소통이 가능한 소셜 서비스가 핵심이 되기 때문에 이를 위한 소셜 TV 시스템의 연구가 활발히 진행되기 시작하였다. 이에 본 논문에서는 소셜 TV 시스템과 관련된 연구와 기술개발 동향을 살펴보고자 한다.

  • Ultra-low latency networking is a technology that reduces the end-to-end latency related to transport time-sensitive or mission-critical traffic in a network. As the proliferation of the fourth industrial revolution and 5G mobile communications continues, ultra-low latency networking is emerging as an essential technology for supporting various network applications (such as industrial control, tele-surgery, and unmanned vehicles). In this report, we introduce the ultra-low-latency networking technologies that are in progress, categorized by application area, and examine their up-to-date standard status.

  • This paper discusses the method of vision based sensor fusion system for biped robot walking. Most researches on biped walking robot have mostly focused on walking algorithm itself. However, developing vision systems for biped walking robot is an important and urgent issue since biped walking robots are ultimately developed not only for researches but to be utilized in real life. In the research, systems for environment recognition and tele-operation have been developed for task assignment and execution of biped robot as well as for human robot interaction (HRI) system. For carrying out certain tasks, an object tracking system using modified optical flow algorithm and obstacle recognition system using enhanced template matching and hierarchical support vector machine algorithm by wireless vision camera are implemented with sensor fusion system using other sensors installed in a biped walking robot. Also systems for robot manipulating and communication with user have been developed for robot.

해양원격의료의 서비스 특성이 선원만족도 및 충성도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Service Characteristics of Maritime Telemedicine on Seafarer's Satisfaction and Loyalty)

  • 본 연구는 해양원격의료의 서비스 특성(서비스 질, 서비스의 인지 여부, 건강 상담 서비스의 경험 여부)이 선원만족도에 얼마나 영향을 미치는지 분석하고, 또한, 선원만족도가 충성도에 얼마나 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 이를 위해, 해양원격의료 시범사업에서 수행했던 2017년도 서비스 대상자 설문조사에서 수집된 데이터를 활용하였다. 다만, 본 연구에서는 해양원격의료 중 화상원격(Tele-Monitering) 서비스를 받은 선원 103명을 연구의 대상으로 실증 분석을 하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다.ⅰ) 서비스 질이 높을수록 만족도는 높았다, ⅱ) 만족도가 높을수록 충성도는 높았다, ⅲ) 30세 미만보다 50세 미만의 선원들이 만족도가 낮았다. ⅳ) 총 승선경력에서, 5년 이상에서 10년 미만인 선원이 5년 미만인 선원보다 만족도가 높았다, ⅴ) 10년 이상에서 15년 미만인 선원이 5년 미만인 선원보다 만족도가 높았다, ⅵ) 15년 이상에서 20년 미만인 선원이 5년 미만인 선원보다 만족도가 높았다, ⅶ) 또한, 20년 초과인 선원이 5년 미만인 선원보다 만족도가 높았다. 결론적으로,ⅰ) 해양원격의료 서비스 질이 높을수록 만족도는 높았고, 만족도가 높을수록 충성도는 높았다. 따라서 서비스 질의 향상은 만족도 및 충성도를 높이는데 중요한 요소일 뿐만 아니라, 해양원격의료에 대한 긍정적인 이미지 형성에 중요한 역할을 한다고 하겠다. ⅱ) 나이가 젊고, 대체적으로 총 승선경력이 낮은 선원이 만족도가 높았다. 이는 원격의료에 대한 이용 의사가 있고, 다른 사람에게 추천할 의도가 있는 선원은 젊은 층이라고 사료 된다.

Tele-robotic Application for Nozzle Dam Maintenance Operation in Nuclear Power Plants

  • This paper describes the development of a robotic maintenance system for use in a maintenance operation of the nozzle dam in a water chamber of a steam generator at the Kori nuclear power plant in Korea. The robotic maintenance system was designed to minimize the personnel exposure to a hazardous radioactive environment. This robotic maintenance system is operated by a teleoperated control which was designed to perform the nozzle dam maintenance tasks in a remote manner without endangering the human workers. Specific maintenance tasks involve the transportation, insertion, and removal of nozzle dams in a water chamber inside a steam generator via a narrow man-way entrance port. The developed robotic maintenance system has two major subsystems: a two degrees of freedom guiding device acting as the main guiding arm and a master-slave manipulator with a kinematic dissimilarity. The mechanical design considerations, control system, and capabilities of the robotic maintenance system are presented. Finally, a graphical representation of the nozzle dam maintenance processes in a simulated work environment are also demonstrated.

  • The remote operation of the Advanced Spent Fuel Conditioning Process (ACP) is analyzed by using the 3D graphic simulation tools. The ACP equipment operates in intense radiation fields as well as in a high temperature. Thus, the equipment should be designed in consideration of the remote handling and maintenance. As well as suitable remote handling and maintenance method needs to be provided. To provide such remote operation technology, we developed the graphic simulator which provides the capability of verifying the remote operability of the ACP without fabrication of the process equipment. In other words, by applying virtual reality to the remote maintenance operation, a remote operation task can be simulated in a computer, not in a real environment. In this way the graphic simulator can substantially reduce the design cost of the remote operation process and the equipment. Also it can provide new operation concept that is more reliable, easier to implement, and easier to understand.

  • Use of teaching pendant is the most widespread and economical way to teach desired motion to robots. It is also very primitive,time consuming and ineffective way of teaching which has not changed since the early days of robot. In order to reduce the teaching effor, a new efficient form of teaching is needed. Also, the recent robotics research trend into service robots such as home robot, nurse robot and medical robot calls for a new teaching method which is both easy and inexpensive. In this paper, the design and operation principle of a low cost force/moment sensor is presented. The proposed sensor architecture is so simple and inexpensive that it opens the prospect for a new paradigm of robot teaching which is easy and efficinet. Other prospective areas of application are tele-manipulation of robots wher it can be used in master arm, and virtual environment where it can be used as an user input device.

텔레프레즌스 서비스를 위한 몰입도 분석 기술 (Engagement Analysis Technology for Tele-presence Services)

  • A Telepresence service is an advanced video conferencing service at aimed providing remote users with the feeling of being present together at a particular location for a face-to-face group meeting. The effectiveness in this type of meeting can be further increased by automatically recognizing the audiovisual behaviors of the video conferencing users, accurately inferring their level of engagement from the recognized reactions, and providing proper feedback on their engagement state. In this paper, we review the recent developments of such engagement analysis techniques being utilized in various applications, such as human-robot interaction, content evaluation, telematics, and online collaboration services. In addition, we introduce a real-time engagement analysis framework employed in our telepresence service platform for an increased participation in online group collaboration settings.
