  • This study examines the effect of smartphone to adolescent's mental health and defines moderating effect of parent-child relationship. For this purpose, 278 subjects were surveyed from 1 middle schools in Gwangju and Jeonnam area. The result of this study are as follows. First, when verifying the impact of smartphone addiction on their mental health, The smartphone addiction was found as the key variable that has a negative impact on mental health. The results indicated that adolescents with higher levels of smartphone addiction more likely to have lower levels of mental health. Second, impact of parent-child relationship on their mental health was analyzed. The analytic results suggest that parent-child relationship has a impact on their mental health. In other words, higher parent-child relationship means higher mental health. Third, the moderating effect of parent-child relationship was analyzed. The parent-child relationship check the moderating effect of do smartphone addiction on their mental health. The implications for social work practice were also discussed.

  • Along with the recent advances of mobile internet technology, use of social network service(SNS) is very common among adolescents or college students in their daily lives. Although there have been a lot of studies on Internet addiction or mobile phone addiction, however, there were little research on SNS addiction so far. Scholars investigated somewhat broader and obscure phenomenon of Internet addiction. In this regard, the current study tried to examine factors which influence SNS addiction behavior. Unlike Internet addiction, there are positive influencing factors such socialization, enjoyment as well as problematic ones like loneliness. Data were collected from college students in Korea to examine how those factors influence addiction behavior and hypotheses were tested using the partial least square method. All three factors, socialization, enjoyment, and loneliness, were found to significantly influence SNS addiction and socialization was positively associated with enjoyment.

  • Due to the advent of new smart devices, the new technology addiction problems have been much severer than the Internet addiction recently. A lot of research about each technology addiction has been proposed, but the research about the changes in the addictions has been rare. In this paper, we analyze how the environmental factors such as parents and friends affect the personal factors such as time perspectives and technology usage time. In addition, we get the relative importances among the factors which influence on the Internet and mobile phone addictions. As a result, we can analyze the relationships among the factors and the differences between the two addictions with time perspective. In order to achieve our goals, we surveyed on 1,420 primary and secondary school students. We also provided the results produced by structural equation model and Budescu's Dominance analysis. Based on these analyses, we described the differences between the Internet and mobile phone addictions and proposed an alternative to prevent new technology addictions.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between dental technology students' life stress and smartphone addiction in order to detect smartphone over-users early, prevent them from getting addicted, and obtain basic data for creating a positive environment for academic achievement by using smartphone in a right way. Methods: The subjects of this study were university students at D University and G University in Daejeon Metropolitan City and Gangwon-do. A questionnaire survey was conducted to the subjects who understood the purpose of this study and participated in it from March 1 to June 10, 2018, and 243 were finally analyzed except 24 questionnaires without sufficient answers. Results: As a result of multiple regression analysis with variables, which were significant in univariate analysis, as independent variables, there were gender and smartphone dependency as general characteristics affecting the degree of smartphone addiction, and family relations and future problems among stress sub-factors were selected as significant variables. Conclusion : In the case of college students, they choose the smartphone as the easiest way to relieve stress because they lack the time and space to actually release stress. Therefore, club activities or on-campus and extra-curricular activities are recommended, and it needs to seek a way to get rid of stress by solving the cause of stress through counseling.

  • Methamphetamine addiction is a critical issue due to the lack of effective pharmacotherapy and high potential for relapse. Nevertheless, there are no distinct biomarkers for diagnosis or prognosis for methamphetamine addiction. In the present study, a rat model for methamphetamine self-administration was established and alteration of urinary metabolites by methamphetamine addiction was investigated by the targeted metabolite analysis using mass spectrometry. Rat urine samples were collected at three time points (before and after addiction and after extinction) from the methamphetamine-addicted group as well as the age-matched control group. The collected samples were prepared using AbsoluteIDQ p180 kit and analyzed using flow injection analysis (FIA) - or high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) - tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). The levels of lysine, acetylornithine and methioninesulfoxide were distinctively altered depending on the status of metheamphetamine addiction or extinction. In particular, the level of acetylornithine was reversely changed from addiction to extinction, for which further studies could be useful for biomarker discovery or mechanistic studies for methamphetamine addiction.

Methods: From 21 to 30 May 2013, a convenience sample of 192 subjects was recruited. Research data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 18.0. Results: Scores for female students were higher than those for male students in smartphone addiction, interpersonal peoblems and depression. The average BDI score was 6.6. There were 29(15.1%), 11(5.7%), 8(4.0%), and 6(3.1%) students with mild, moderate, and severe depression, respectively. Significant positive correlation between smartphone addiction, interpersonal problems and depression. The moderating effect of smartphone addiction on the relationship between interpersonal problems and depression was significant. Conclusion: Smartphone addiction plays a role as a moderating variable influencing the relationship between interpersonal problems and depression, and also increases the effect of interpersonal problems on depression. When developing depression prevention programs for college students, such programs should consider strategies to decrease smartphone addiction and increase direct interpersonal relationship, and female students in particular should be included in such programs.

Results: With regard to internet addiction, 33.9% is at the early stage of internet addiction and 2.1% is severely addicted to internet. Health status was poorer in female, students with low economic status, less attention to children's health by parents, neglecting their children's internet use, single-parent, and severely addicted to internet. Factors significantly influencing on the health status included gender, internet addiction, parent's attitude about internet using time, interest in their children's health, economic status and internet using time ($R^2$=25.8%). Conclusion: The education program for preventing internet addiction considering these affecting factors is necessary.
