In this study, we suggest a new perspective on the linkage between alliance portfolio diversity and innovation performance based on a contingency approach. Using a longitudinal data set on alliance portfolios and patents of 182 firms in the U.S. manufacturing industries, we examined that alliance portfolio diversity has a U-shaped relationship with firm-level innovation. Internal value creation capabilities in terms of routine and ability are found to moderate the relationship between alliance portfolio diversity and innovation performance: Organizational search routine strengthens the relationship of alliance portfolio diversity and innovation performance while technological capabilities weaken and flip the relationship.

This paper explores multi-technology capabilities between Korea and Taiwan by analyzing the pattern of inventive activities concerning technology fusion by using patent bibliometrics. Although two countries exhibit a similar level of invention activities and high degree of specialization in emerging technologies measured by the number and technological fields of their US patents, innovation systems in two countries differ. MTCs (multi-technology corporations) are stronger in Korea national innovation system while small innovative firms play important roles in Taiwan national innovation system. Technology fusion has been an important source of technological innovation and it suggests possible advantage for the Korean innovation system because it is a common belief that global size firms - most of them are multi-technology corporations - can perform better in multi-technology fusion and scientific research. The result of patent bibliometrics suggests rather complex answers to the belief Even though Korea shows slight advantage, it may not be ascribed to the large MTCs.

본 연구는 환경역동성이 기업의 동적역량과 운영역량의 변화와 혁신성과에 미치는 영향을 실증하였다. 이를 위하여 기업역량을 동적역량과 운영역량의 계층적 구조로 정의하고 계량화를 위하여 각 역량의 개념과 정의를 정리하였다. 동적역량, 운영역량, 혁신성과 및 환경역동성에 대한 선행연구를 통해 5개의 연구가설을 설정하였고, 우리나라 제조기업 300개 기업의 표본을 대상으로 가설을 검증하였다. 그 결과, 동적역량은 운영역량에 정(+)의 영향을 미치며 운영역량도 혁신성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 환경역동성이 높은 기업군은 운영역량이 급진적 혁신에 정(+)의 영향을 주며, 반대로 환경역동성이 낮은 기업군은 운영역량이 점진적 혁신에 정(+)의 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 환경역동성은 동적역량이 운영역량에 미치는 영향에 조절효과가 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 동적역량과 운영역량을 프로세스로 구체화하여 기업의 동적역량 특성을 실증적으로 분석할 수 있는 기반을 마련하고, 환경변화가 기업역량과 혁신성과에 미치는 영향을 실증한 것에 의의가 있다. 또한 급변하는 환경 속에서 기업이 경쟁우위를 지속하기 위해서 어떻게 역량을 변화해야 하는지에 대한 시사점을 제시한 것에도 의의가 있다.

본 연구는 혁신형 중소기업을 연구대상으로 하여, CEO의 유형에 따른 기술혁신역량이 기술혁신성과에 미치는 영향을 미시적으로 분석하였다. 또한, 혁신형 중소기업특성에 따라 CEO유형이 기술혁신역량에 미치는 영향, 기술혁신역량이 기술혁신 성과에 미치는 영향을 함께 연구하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해, 중기부에 등록된 혁신형 중소기업 250사(社)를 연구대상으로 하여 실증분석을 실시하였으며, 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, CEO 유형이 기술혁신역량에 미치는 영향 분석 결과, 시장중심형 CEO, 기술형 CEO, 컨설턴트형 CEO는 기술변화 감지역량에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나, 관리형 CEO는 기술변화감지역량에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 또한, 혁신형 중소기업의 CEO유형은 기술혁신역량의 R&D기술 소화역량에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 기술혁신역량과 기술혁신성과 간의 관계를 분석한 결과 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 셋째, 중소기업 성장단계에 따른 CEO유형과 기술혁신역량 간 조절효과를 분석한 결과 기술형 CEO와 컨설턴트형 CEO는 기술변화감지역량에 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석 되었으나, 관리형 CEO와 시장형 CEO는 조절효과가 발생하지 않았다. 넷째, 혁신형 중소기업 성장단계에 따른 기술혁신역량과 기술혁신성과 간 조절효과를 분석한 결과 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다.

This study examines the relationship between dynamic capabilities and operational capabilities as well as investigates the effect of these capabilities and performance. We also test these relationships on two industry groups categorized into high-tech industries and low-tech industries. We collected 221 firms' data from a questionnaire survey of small and medium-sized enterprises in Korea. Empirical results show that dynamic capabilities and operational capabilities influence performance positively. In high-tech industries dynamic capabilities directly affect performance while marketing capabilities appear to mediate the relationship between dynamic capabilities and performance. Dynamic capabilities show no significant effect on performance for low-tech industries; however, operational capabilities do mediate the relationship between dynamic capabilities and performance.

지난 참여 정부에서 지역균형발전정책의 하나로 지역혁신정책을 본격적으로 추진하면서 지역혁신체제에 대한 관심이 높아져 왔다. 그러나 우리나라 지방자치단체들은 아직까지 지역혁신체제와 지역혁신역량에 대한 개념 파악이 미흡한 실정이다. 또한 지역혁신체제에 관한 논의는 많이 있었지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 개념 정립이 부족한 상태이며 학자들 사이에서도 많은 이견이 존재한다. 그리고 지금까지 혁신역량에 관한 논의 및 연구는 대부분 국가 차원에서 이루어져 왔고, 지역 차원에서의 혁신역량 분석은 매우 부족한 실정이다. 이러한 맥락 하에서 본 연구는 지역혁신역량과 기업의 기술혁신활동에 대한 분석을 통해 지역 산업발전을 위한 토대 구축에 기여하고자 한다. 이를 위해 대한민국의 중심부이며 첨단산업의 메카인 충남북부지역을 분석대상으로 선정하여 혁신 주체들이 인지하는 지역혁신역량의 구성 내용, 기업의 혁신활동과 혁신활동의 지역화 간의 관계 등에 대한 설문조사를 수행하고, 학술적 및 정책적 함의를 제시하고자 한다.

Regional innovation capabilities have been regarded as essential in developing regional economy. Many regional governments all over the world have been pouring great efforts to increase their regional innovation capabilities. In these days, this trend has been prevailed among Korean regional governments. In line with the active support of the central government, Korean regional governments have started their own regional innovation policies. This paper aims at discussing a regional government`s efforts in enhancing its innovation capabilities. As a representative region, we select Kyunggi Province, because it is one of the most advanced regions in Korea. We discuss Kyunggi Province`s innovation promotion efforts in terms of organization, budget, and programs. According to our analysis, the Kyunggi`s provincial government increased its innovation capabilities to a large scale. It has extended its S&T promotion organization, increased its R&D budget to a large scale, and increased its R&D promotion programmes and even initiated its own programs.

Purpose - With the increasing uncertainty of China's domestic political and economic environment in recent years, Korean MNC subsidiaries in the Chinese market face greater challenges and competition. Based on the insufficiency of existing research and the need for enterprise management practices, this paper uses the Chinese subsidiaries of Korean MNCs as an example to study and explore how knowledge management and dynamic capabilities affect ambidextrous innovation and the relationship between ambidextrous innovation and subsidiary performance. Design/methodology - From January to March 2019, this study collected 341 valid questionnaires using a survey company specializing in China for the members of the Chinese subsidiaries of Korean MNCs to verify the hypotheses. Using the collected data, the study model was verified using the Smart PLS 3.0 statistical package. Findings - Knowledge transfer and knowledge sharing have positive effects on dynamic capabilities and ambidextrous innovation, and dynamic capabilities have a positive impact on ambidextrous innovation. Ambidextrous innovation has been shown to have a significant effect on subsidiary performance. In addition, a partial mediating effect of dynamic capabilities on the relationship between knowledge management and ambidexterity innovation was found. Originality/value - In the academic context, this paper contributes theoretically to the relationship between knowledge management and ambidextrous innovation, as well as the mechanism of dynamic capability, and to verify the relationship between ambidextrous innovation and corporate performance. Against the background of MNC management, the results of this study provide further enlightenment for managers of subsidiaries.

As competition among companies has intensified and the life cycle of products has been shortened, strong innovation is needed to meet consumers' needs. In addition, it is necessary to shorten the life cycle of the product and reduce the time required for technology development for the competitive advantage of the product. In particular, venture companies where new technologies and ideas are important require more innovative capabilities than others companies. Therefore, this study analyzed the impact of technology innovation capabilities (product development process capability, human resource capability and financial capability) on sales by technology development for small and medium venture companies and analyzed moderating effect of technology development period on the relationship between technology innovation capabilities and sales by technology development. The data of 'Small and Medium Business Technology Statistics' collected by the government every year were used for analysis. Technology-intensive ventures were extracted from this data. In addition, the moderating effect was analyzed through hierarchical regression analysis. This study shows that product planning capability, test capability, and R&D expenditure have a positive impact on sales by technology development. In this study, the product development period showed a positive moderating effect on product development capability and sales performance. On the other hand, the product development period showed a negative moderating effect on R&D expenditure and sales by technology development.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of IT-enabled dynamic capability in the relationship between intellectual capital and innovation performance under Industry 4.0. We approach the intellectual capital from the perspective of the resource-based view and define the components of intellectual capital as human capital, social capital, and organizational capital. On the other hand, the IT-based dynamic capability means that the information technology and the utilization ability of the enterprise are combined to overcome the turbulent environment. The empirical results showed that the IT-enabled dynamic capabilities mediated the relationship between intellectual capital and innovation performance as it revealed in theory. And in terms of practical implications, we found the importance of an organization's information technology ability to effectively utilize intangible resources for organizational performance.
