이동통신기술과의 연관성을 고려한 차세대 이동통신서비스의 수요예측에 관한 연구 (A study on a forecasting the demand for the future mobile communication service by integrating the mobile communication technology)

  • In this paper, we have developed a technology-service relationship model which describes the diffusion process of a group of services and relevant technologies, and have applied the developed model to the prediction of the number of subscribers to the next generation mobile service. The technology-service relationship model developed in this paper incorporates the developing process of relevant technologies, a supply-side factor, into the diffusion process of specific services, while many diffusion models and multi-generation diffusion models in previous researches are mainly reflect the demand-side factors. So, the proposed model could effectively applied to the telecommunication services where the developing of the relevant technologies are very essential to the service penetration. In our application, the proposed model provides a competitive substitution between the next generation mobile service and the traditional mobile service.

다결정 실리콘의 확산 공정 시뮬레이션 (Simulation Methodology for Diffusion Process in Poly-silicon)

  • This paper presents a simulation methodology for the poly-silicon oriented TCAD(technology-CAD) system. A computer simulation environment for the poly-silicon processing has been set up with the proper adoption of the two-stream model for ion-doping, diffusion, and defects inside of grain and on the grain boundary. After the simulator calibration, simulation results for the poly-silicon diffusion hat shown a good agreement with the SIMS data.

  • This paper aims to provide a better understanding about how Information and Communication technology (ICT) has diffused. The investigation is conducted with the consideration of ICT evolution in terms of technological change and usage pattern. The definition used is presented as 'the ICT is a process of convergence of technologies between information-processing and information-transforming technologies, mainly due to the advent of microelectronlcs'. After examining technological changes of ICT, the diffusion path of ICT is traced through the usage ratio in total input and/or investment based on Input-Output tables (I-O). It shows that the evolution of ICT from the change of usage pattern is an up-and-down usage pattern rather than a uni-modal usage time path. With this recognition, the diffusion index is prepared.   • Mean curvature diffusion (MCD) is a selective smoothing technique that promotes smoothing within a region instead of smoothing across boundaries. By using mean curvature diffusion, noise is eliminated and edges are preserved. In this paper, we propose methods of automatic parameter selection and implementation for the MCD model coupled to min/max flow. The algorithm has been applied to high resolution aerial images and the results show that noise is eliminated and edges are preserved after removal of noise.

  • The widespread discussion of AI-generated content, fueled by the emergence of consumer applications like ChatGPT and Midjourney, has attracted significant attention. Among various AI applications, AI painting has gained popularity due to its mature technology, user-friendly nature, and excellent output quality, resulting in a rapid growth in user numbers. Midjourney and Stable Diffusion are two of the most widely used AI painting tools by users. In this study, the author adopts a perspective that represents the general public and utilizes case studies and comparative analysis to summarize the distinctive features and differences between Midjourney and Stable Diffusion in the context of AI character illustration. The aim is to provide informative material forthose interested in AI painting and lay a solid foundation for further in-depth research on AI-generated content. The research findings indicate that both software can generate excellent character images but with distinct features.

  • This paper develops a model to predict the adoption and level of usage of network technology in a two-level supply chain with buyer-supplier relationships. A firm's adoption of a new technology depends not only on its own beliefs of the new technology's costs and benefits, but also on the adoption decisions of other firms in the supply chain. A model first analyzes an individual supplier's decision about a new technology adoption considering with multiple suppliers and buyers. Individual suppliers' decisions are aggregated with a population model to project how new technology diffuses across the supply chain and examine the pattern of diffusion process. This study found that as more firms adopt in initial periods, the total amount of information to the potential adopters in the population increases, and then the number of firms persuaded by the information increases as the process moves up the distribution of adoption process. We consider three factors influencing the diffusion speed of the new technology in a supply chain network : mean benefits, cost sharing, and information provision. This study examines how such factors affect the reduction of threshold levels, which implies that reductions in threshold levels have an aggregate effect by accelerating the rate of adoption. In particular, we explore relationship factors available in practice in a buyer-supplier relationship and numerically examines how these relationship factors contribute to increase the diffusion speed of the technology in a two-level supply chain.

Who Speaks for Innovations?: An Analysis of the Media Exposure of R&D Outputs

  • The literature in research policy extensively addresses the interaction between public R&D and the society. Scholars have paid particular attention to the way science and technology are diffused into the society and industry with the aim of substantiating their potential value. In practice, having recognized the importance of the said interaction, R&D entities and governmental organizations promote scientific and technological innovations that result from their R&D activities. Yet, the nature of news media exposure as their primary channel to promote R&D outcomes has been remarkably understudied. Using the results of R&D projects supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), this study examines R&D entities' strategic use of the news media to publicize their outcomes. The empirical results suggest that the scale of an R&D project positively affects the counts of media exposure of its R&D outcomes, whereas the level of technology readiness and the technology life-cycle do not have significant influence. In addition, the results suggest that, compared to senior researchers, young researchers are more likely to publicize their R&D outcomes and that R&D outcomes from highly ranked universities are more likely to be publicized than those from lower-ranking universities despite our control for R&D outcomes. The aforementioned results suggest that in promoting the diffusion of science and technology, especially to the public, policymakers should be concerned about incentives for those who provide techno-scientific information, such as researchers. The social need for the diffusion of techno-scientific information into the public (e.g., technology transfer and diffusion) is an insignificant factor in determining the media exposure of such information, whereas personal benefits and sensitive issues related to a researcher's own R&D activities (e.g., justification for R&D activities) drive researchers to publicize their R&D outcomes. This paper suggests that policymakers, especially those concerned with better diffusion of scientific and technological innovations need to design a proper incentive system to maximize the societal benefits of media exposure.

이동통신서비스 확산패턴 - 유럽국가 자료를 중심으로 (Diffusion Patterns of Mobile Telecommunications Services in the European Countries)

  • 이동통신시장은 지난 10년 동안 괄목할 만한 가입자 증가로 인해 급격하게 성장했다. 서비스의 확산패턴은 그러한 새로운 서비스를 준비하는 이동통신사에게 주요 관심사이다. 우리는 이러한 서비스의 확산패턴이 이전의 모바일 서비스와 유사할 것으로 가정하며, 이러한 서비스의 확산패턴을 확인하는 것은 차세대 모바일 서비스를 위한 이동통신사에게 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 이동통신서비스의 유사한 확산패턴을 보여 주는 국가를 분류하였다. 전통적인 확산모델을 사용하여, 25개의 서유럽 국가들의 이동통신 확산패턴을 추정한다. 1993년부터 2004년까지 이들 국가들의 월 보급률 자료를 기초로 하였다. 클러스터 분석을 통해 이동통신 확산패턴측면에서 상위 모방국가와 하위 모방국가의 두 그룹을 분류하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 이동통신서비스의 상이한 확산패턴을 설명하기 위한 인과모형을 개발하거나 차세대 이동통신서비스를 위한 새로운 네트워크를 계획할 때 그 기초를 제공한다.

  • By using Mawhin continuation theorem and comparison theorem, the existence of periodic solution and persistence for a predator-prey system with diffusion and impulses are investigated in this paper. An example and simulation are given to show the effectiveness of the main results.
