  • This study is to observe and activate a groping of education based on the perceptual responses from the teachers and the students in fisheries schools. The conclusions of this study are as follows : First, lower level of the perceptual response was estimated in the curriculum and experimental courses, the financial and administrative supports from the Government, the contribution of a fisheries high school to the local society the wages of seamen and the co-works between the industries and the academies. Second, a careful consideration is needed for the fisheries school to have a different shape. As one way for co-works of the industries and the academies, two year program in school and one year internship in a related company should be formed for the curriculum in a fisheries high school. A localized support for sea area, a fisheries high school's role as a re-eaducation for the seamaen and opening a educational graduate school for teachers in the fisheries university are pursued. Third, the perceptual response from the teachers and the students are globally weighted in the acquisition of the license with a graduation of the school and then the credit for the military services, the entering into the same area of the higher education, the expansion of the experimental materials in the courses, developing the curriculum, the Governmental supports and the awareness for the local society, in order. The issues indicated here should be researched continuously for activating the education in the fisheries high schools.

Then the rate of pupil to the whole instructing staffs in Korea is 2.4 times as high as that in Japan. 3. 81 percents of training ships in Japan are larger than 400 gross tons, which is extremely higher to that in Korea. The rate of gross tonnage of the ships to the number of trainees shows 6.2 tons in Japan compared with 1.1 tons in Korea. Also such large dimensioned training ships are newly built every other 12 years. the construction cost per 1 gross ton of such ships are said as 2.5 to 3 million yen, which corresponds to 15 to 18 million wons, and is over 3 times as much as that in Korea. 4. • This research investigates the historical changes of the educational system for the clothing departments at vocational high schools. According to the growth of the fashion industry, employment potential in the clothing departments of the vocational high schools, numerical changes in the educational statistics, and curriculums were investigated by papers, reports, and statistic data. The statistic data were derived from the 'Center Educational Statistics and Information', 'School Information' (Hak-gyo Alimi), 'Korean Statistical Information Services' and internet home pages of vocational high schools. Technical service workers that graduate from clothing departments and vocational high schools have limited competitiveness in a thriving fashion industry field. Highly developed fashion industries require more professional workers in fashion design, fashion marketing, and fashion materials. Compared to 1994, when 35 classes were conducted in 5 vocational high schools, 69 classes are now conducted at 15 schools. They have over 2,000 students and produce over 600 graduates. However, 222 credits of the $1^{st}$ curriculum in 1958 went down to 82 credits in the 2007 revised curriculum to complete the credits of clothing departments. The 15 courses of the 1st curriculum fell to 5 courses in the 2007 revised curriculum on the number of major subjects. It is a fundamental problem that major courses in clothing education have been excessively reduced despite the demand for of highly specialized workers in the fashion industry. In the view of operating conditions of those schools, there were several problems such as the wide gaps in the curriculum, limited equipment, the supply of teachers, and counseling on the choice of college or a career. In conclusion, the following measures are required: 1) the increase of complement credits in major subjects and renovation of curriculum, 2) national substantial support to change the social circumstance concerning vocational education and occupational consciousness, 3) operation of credit approving systems in universities and colleges for students that have completed the same courses at vocational high schools, 4) designing realistic programs for vocational education and cooperation systems with corporate enterprises.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose implications by analyzing the textiles and clothing curriculum of vocational high schools. Literature and data were analyzed, surveys and FGI were conducted, and the following research results were derived. First, many schools chose 'Basic dress design' or 'Basic dress composition' as basic subjects. Through this, it was confirmed that technical training for practice is a priority for vocational schools, and that more discussion is needed regarding the lack of theoretical subjects. Second, similarly to the basic subjects, practical subjects offered are concentrated on 2 to 3 subjects. The teachers asserted that some subjects such as 'Knit apparel production' and the 'Leather and fur design production', which require a lot of equipment and advanced technology, cannot be offered without support from the government. Third, the NCS competency unit of the practical subjects is easy to proceed with the class or is closely concentrated on the type of manpower training presented by each department. Fourth, this study proposes that for technical education to expand students' choice, it is necessary to cultivate teachers competencies linked to the industry. The results of this study are expected to provide basic data on the organization of the next textiles and clothing professional curriculum and help understand vocational education at vocational high schools. In addition, it is believed that this study will contribute to developing and settling various subjects when the high school credit system is implemented by expanding students' choice of major-related subjects.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the use of computer games relating their scholastic achievements and behaviors of the first and second grade boy students in vocational high schools. The analysis based on the location of schools turned out to be meaningful because computer games seemed to deteriorate urban students' school grades more than those of the rural students. However, another analysis based on types of schools such as agricultural, technical, and commercial schools did not show any meaningful differences in their GPA(Grade Point Average). It was analyzed that such items in the given questionnaire as whether or not computer games made them less attentive to their classes, whether or not games made them put off their stud? and work, and whether or not they played computer games even during their exam periods had no meaningful results. Besides, it seemed that there was no connection between how well one plays computer games and how well he or she does at school work did not seem to be correlated. In short, most of the subjects seemed to enjoy computer games regardless of their scholastic achievements.

  • The purpose of this study is to survey of specialists cognition to authorize credits for the same subjects in entering a department of the same area in college among technical high school graduates. Today with generalized college education, about 80% of technical high school graduates enter college. Therefore, authorization of credits for the same subjects is necessary to reduce educational waste in terms of articulation among technical high schools, junior colleges and universities. In this study, a survey was conducted with 100 specialists in technical education, including technical high school teachers, researchers, and professors at junior college or technical college in university, getting answers from 84 subjects (81.25%). The results of this research can be summarized as follows: First, it is valid to authorize credits for all practical subjects completed in technical high school when technical high school graduates enter the same department at college but most of junior college professor unsuitable response. Second, it is valid to authorize credits through its own prescribed test for the same subjects when technical high school graduates enter the same department of engineering at junior college or technical college in university but opposed 62.5% of junior college professor. Third, it is most of respondent valid to authorize credits for the same subjects if results of its own examination for authorization by university are at a fixed level or higher when technical high school graduates are admitted as a junior at the same department in technical college of university after graduation from the same department at junior college.

  • Forestry education in vocational high schools is one of the fundamental keys for achieving sustainable forest management. However, support systems for forestry education have not been well developed in Japan. Forest research institutes, which have accumulated relevant information, should have sufficient ability to develop new educational programs in this field. This study examined the possibility of support systems for forestry technical education by a research institute. Educational programs for vocational high schools were developed, and the programs were examined for their practical applications through a workshop for these teachers. We set the following five requirements for the programs: They should 1) incorporate new contents related to sustainable forest management, 2) be based on forestry education textbooks, 3) meet recent demands of the schools and society, 4) allow participants to learn through actual practice and experience, and 5) utilize readily available teaching materials. With these criteria, we developed the following two educational programs: (a) Forest management program to teach advanced techniques, (b) A timber-program to teach about biomass resources. The workshop was held on July $28^{th}$, 2007 with ten teachers attending. The programs were very interesting, who gave them high average evaluation of 4.6 on a scale of 1 to 5. Only a few issues need to be resolved before classroom instruction can begin, such as making wood structure easier to understanding for some teachers, and obtaining base maps of school forests. In conclusion, forest research institutes can effectively support forestry education by providing and implementing programs based on scientific information.
