  • The three main purposes of this paper are to (1) identify critical success factors(CSF's) for electronic commerce(EC), (2) investigate the explanatory power of these CSF's on firm performance, and (3) compare differences in evaluating CSF's and explaining impact of CSF's on performance between Korean and U.S.A. EC managers. Through a literature review and interviews with managers in EC firms, a list of 16 CSF's consisting of 111 items was compiled. In the second stage, questionnaires were administered to managers of EC companies in Seoul, Korea and Texas, U.S.A. Survey results show that CSF's have very significant explanatory power for firm performance in both Korean and U.S.A. While security, privacy, technical expertise, information about goods/services, and variety of goods/services are the most explanatory CSF's in Korea, evaluation of EC operations, technical expertise, and ease of use show most explanatory power in U.S.A. This analysis confirms the fact that customers use EC if they feel comfortable about navigating EC for information about a variety of goods/services without technical difficulty and in a secure and private way.

  • In this paper, EVMS procedure for KHP program is presented. Research and development of a defense system as a long lead program has a high probability of cost growth due to the uncertainty and risk. Therefore, meeting schedule, technical performance and preventing excessive cost overrun are the main concerning point to successful research and development program. EVMS(Earned Value Management System) is a program management system using earned value to control cost, schedule and technical performance. In order to control cost and schedule and to meet technical performance requirements of the KHP research and development program, it is necessary for us to adapt EVMS to the program.

  • The main purpose of this research is to measure and analyze how productive the health centers are and how much inputs(or outputs) in the inefficient health centers should be decreased(or increased) for efficiency. The evaluation of the performance of health centers gives a strong incentive to improve resource allocation in regional health planning. It has been, however, implemented very rarely until now. In this regard, this paper measures the performance of the health centers with a single indicator for multiple-outputs in terms of productivity(technical efficiency), based on Data Envelopment method. The 20 Kyungnam health centers which provide clinic services and specific primary health care services were analyzed. The results show that 50.0% of 20 health centers were productive with respective to overall technical efficiency, 65.0% were productive for pure technical efficiency, and 50.0% for scale efficiency. The inefficient group includes Geoje, Mahsan, Miryang, Sahchun, Tongyoung, Gosung, Nahmhae, Euryang, Hahmahn, Hahbchun health centers. The worst case was identified as Tongyoung health center which represented a 47.5% efficiency, compared with productive health centers. The empirical results for input-output analysis indicates that the low-productive health centers have excessive manpower in administration department, producing low outputs in clinical services and vaccination program. These findings imply that a systemic evaluation of the performance of the Korean health centers and the subsequent structural reform are strongly required.

  • As a new technical approach, an attempt was made to realize a photovoltaic system for an eco-environmental leisure ship by simultaneously actuating nine photovoltaic solar panels in association with the application of a sail-controlling system using wind energy. In this approach, the photovoltaic system consisted of a solar module, an inverter, a battery, and the relevant components, while the sail-controlling device was equipped with sail up/down and mast turning systems. The previously mentioned eco-environmental leisure ship utilizes a photovoltaic hybrid system that uses solar and wind energy as renewable energy sources. Furthermore, this research included a performance evaluation of the manufactured prototype, the acquisition of the purposed quantity values, and development of the purposed items. The significant items, including the sail up/down speed (seconds) and mast turning angle (degrees) were evaluated for a performance test. A wind direction sensitivity of 90% and maximum instant charging power of 900 W were also obtained in the process of the performance evaluation. In addition, the maximum sail time was also evaluated in order to acquire the optimum value. The performance evaluation showed that the prototype with a photovoltaic hybrid system was suitable for sailing an eco-environmental leisure ship using solar and wind energy.

  • Purpose : The first case of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) disease outbreak in Korea occurred in January 2020, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases by the Central Defense Response Headquarters of the Quality Management Administration as of November 30 was 34,201. Looking at the incidence trend of domestic confirmed cases by age, the incidence rate of COVID-19 in the age group of 20-29 years, which corresponds to college students, was 27.4 %, the highest compared by age group. Considering the current status of the infection rate, universities will become the centers of new COVID-19 cases if face-to-face lectures are recommenced without preparatory measures and analysis of infection prevention (e.g., infection awareness and education for university students). Thus, this study intended to investigate the level of knowledge, educational needs, and preventive behavior performance of college students about COVID-19 and provide basic data for the development of an education program for the prevention of COVID-19 for college students. Methods : This study is a descriptive correlational study aimed to investigate the correlation between knowledge about COVID-19, educational needs, and degree of preventive behavior performance in 407 college students attending one University in Gyeonggi-do. Results : The subjects' knowledge score about COVID-19 was 12.46±1.39 points, average educational needs score was 29.16±3.14 points, and prevention behavior performance survey result was 35.50±3.61 points. Moreover, positive correlation was observed between the knowledge about COVID-19 and educational needs (r=.203, p<.001) and knowledge and preventive behavior performance (r=.140, p=.005). Further, educational needs and preventive behavior performance demonstrated a statistically significant positive relationship (r=.311, p<.001). Conclusion : Therefore, organizing an educational program to acquire accurate knowledge is necessary to make it a habit for college students to practice preventive behavior against COVID-19.
