  • Life Cycle Assessment for the pulp, which is mainly used as the raw material of fine paper, base paper for food packaging and paper cup, has been carried out in this study to consider environmental aspects by quantifying the environmental emission and to evaluate its environmental impact potential. The system boundary was selected from cradle to gate stage(raw material acquisition, transportation of raw material and product manufacturing) of the product. Environmental impact was divided into 8 categories considering Korean situation: abiotic resource depletion, global warming, ozone depletion, acidification, eutrophication, photochemical oxidant creation, ecotoxicity and human toxicity. In Life Cycle Impact Assessment(LCIA) methodology phase, Ecopoint, Eco-indicator 95 and Korean eco-indicator were used and the results carried out by each methodology were compared. The results from this study were also compared with those of foreign study to verify the reliability of the results. The results of the study could be utilized as the basic data for Environmental Management System(EMS), Design for Environment(DfE) and Type III eco-labeling in the paper and paper-related industry.

  • Alternative way of shaping fibers suitable for papermaking was introduced. Impact refining, which was done simply by hitting wet fibers with a metal weight vertically, was intended to keep the fibers from shortening and to cause mostly internal fibrillation. Virgin chemical pulp, its recycled one and OCC were used in the experiment. It was noticed from the experiment that impact refining on virgin chemical pulp kept the fiber length and increased bonding properties greatly. However, in the recycled fibers from the chemical pulp, fiber length and bonding properties were decreased. In OCC, which seems to contain fractions of semi-chemical pulp and mechanical pulp (GP), and which is recycled pulp from corrugated boxes, fiber length and bonding properties were decreased disastrously. We believe recycled cellulosic fibers (recycled chemical pulp and OCC in this case), which went through hornification, were less resistant to the mechanical impact than virgin chemical pulp. For virgin chemical pulp, impact refining allowed no significant fiber length shortening, high WRV, and high mechanical strength.

  • Since introducing the offset frontal impact test in EuroNCAP in 1997, the vehicle has been constantly changing according to its usage and purpose. As of 2019, many vehicles have been released to the public, which has led to a large structural mass difference between small, medium and large vehicles. Also, the geometry of the front of the vehicle is completely different for each vehicle and tends not to be perfectly aligned at frontal collisions. The difference in mass of each of these vehicles and less performing structures for offset crashes have led to dramatically worse outcome in a car to car offset frontal impact tests. Even though a decade later passenger cars have become much safer due to consumer test programs and regulatory requirements, the aggressiveness and compatibility that can cause damage to the opponent car in the event of car to car collision is not considered in the above-mentioned section, and therefore much improvement is needed. After many years of study to solve this problem, EuroNCAP has developed a new mode MPDB offset front test that considers the aggressiveness and compatibility that can affect the opponent cars that have collided. This paper introduces the development process of aggressiveness and compatibility evaluation method of MPDB in EuroNCAP which will be implemented from 2020. Several impact tests have been conducted at different test conditions to rate the vehicle structure performance only focused on aggressiveness and compatibility of MPDB.

  • The purpose of this research is to identify internal and external factors that affect specialized technical high school students' career decision status. It then uses career decision types to predict the variables which have the impact on emotional aspects of specialized technical high school student who feel comfortable or uncomfortable after career decision in order to help specialized technical high school students choose their career. The subject of this study consist a total of 809 male and female students attending specialized technical high school located in South Korea. Data were analyzed to investigate the types of career decision status of specialized technical high school students using the SPSS 21.0 program. The results obtained through the study were as follows. Types of career decision status of specialized technical high school students were divided into four groups based on career decision status and types of emotional state. Results showed the decision-comfort(51.3%), decision-discomfort(25.6%), indecision- discomfort(15.3%), indecision-comfort(1.3%) in order. Social support were selected as variables affecting the comfort and discomfort of two groups and the determining factor which distinguished four groups. Result of the analysis showed that social support has statistically significant impact on whether it was decision or not and comfort or not. But career decision-making self-efficacy has no big impact on career decision types. Taking all results of this study together, we can see that specialized technical high school students feel comfortable and they decide the career, but still many students feel uncomfortable on their decision after deciding their career. It suggests the need of development and operation of program about emotional status of career decision which can help specialized technical high school students prepare their career comfortably after they decide on the career, and the need of segmented career counseling approach including social support group.

  • At the center of the repeating evolution of IT industry, there is mobile computing in the ubiquitous environment, and the increasing usage of smart phones contribute more to its growth. P corporation co-developed with Google and implemented smart work system called SWP for the purpose of 'communication and collaboration with co-workers' beyond the general goal of increasing productivity and comfort of employees. The primary objective of this study is to objectively analyze the influence of the effect factor from end user's perspective and user satisfaction on SWP usage, intention for continuous usage and individual performance. To accomplish this research purpose, this study established research models and hypothesis by collective review about information system success models, and tested the research hypotheses using the structural equation modeling technique by data collected from 320 SWP system users of P corporation. Variations for system satisfaction evaluation standard are 1)SW system usage 2) intention for continuous usage 3) individual performance, effect variations are 1) social factors 2) technical factors 3) combination of social and technical factors. Therefore, this study is about influence factors on success of SWP system and how the factors impact the outcome. The test results of this research model is summarized as follows. Firstly, system user's satisfaction had positive impact on all three; SWP system usage, intention for continuous usage and individual performance. Secondly, social factor 'SWP control system' and technical factor 'information quality' and 'system quality' had positive impact on SWP system user satisfaction, while social factor 'shared value' and technical factor 'service quality' did not have significant effect on user satisfaction. Shared value however, had interactive effect with 'information quality' and 'service quality'. This study is expected to contribute to spread of academic research on smart work system by suggesting a model that can show important factors for corporation while explaining the successful implementation of SWP and its continuous usage.

  • The evolution of EDI has opened the flexible and efficient way for business to conduct a greater portion of the routine buyer-seller business activities online. This study focuses on the role of factors that change the innovation characteristics for implementation success of EDI. Three factors promotional efforts, proactive implementation strategy, and provision of technical expertise are proposed to affect EDI implementation success, as these factors directly influence three general and most important attributes of innovation relative advantage, compatibility, and complexity respectively. Hypotheses indicate that promotional efforts, proactive implementation strategy, and provision of technical expertise directly affect EDI implementation success that is represented by three variables volume, depth, and diversity. A structural equation modeling approach(LISREL) is used to analyze data from EDI adopters. The results show that proactive implementation strategy and provision of technical expertise positively affect implementation success of EDI. Given the significant impact of the wide spread use of the EDI system, this study offers quite useful insights on the factors facilitating innovation characteristics under which EDI can be successfully diffused in organizations.

  • Breaks in presence (BIP) are those moments during virtual environment (VE) exposure in which participants become aware of their real world setting and their sense of presence in the VE becomes disrupted. In this study, we investigate participants' experience when they encounter technical anomalies during game play. We induced four technical anomalies and compared the BIP responses of a navigation mode game to that of a combat mode game. In our analysis, we applied a linear mixed model (LMM) and compared the results with those of a conventional regression model. Results indicate that participants felt varied levels of impact and recovery when experiencing the various technical anomalies. The impact of BIPs was clearly affected by the game mode, whereas recovery appears to be independent of game mode. The results obtained using the LMM did not differ significantly from those obtained using the general regression model; however, it was shown that treatment effects could be improved by consideration of random effects in the regression model.
