This study was conducted to develop a forest education program through middle school curriculum linkage. We used the ADDIE model, comprising the five phases of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation, to secure the objectivity of the program. In the Analysis phase, middle school textbooks were analyzed while considering middle school students' needs for curriculum linkage and the developmental stages of adolescents. The Design phase focused on promoting an understanding of curriculum subjects based on what was reviewed in the Analysis phase and concretized and organized a program that can be implemented in the forest, with a focus on science and physical education, based on the results of middle school students' needs. We also established the objectives and goals of curriculum linkage forest education, established the concept of the program, and selected the educational contents, teaching-learning methods, and evaluation methods. In the Development phase, we developed a 2-night, 3-day program linkage with the middle school curriculum and created a manual for instructors and a workbook for students. In the Implementation phase, we revised and supplemented the program through the first test operation with 24 students in their second year of middle school, after which, we carried out a six-session program for the 2-night, 3-day as the second test operation with 17 students in their second year of middle school. In the Evaluation phase, the program was evaluated by the students who participated in the second test operation using questionnaires on satisfaction and curriculum linkage understanding as well as rating scales for attitudes toward forests and environmental sensitivity. The results showed that middle school students showed positive significance in satisfaction and understanding of the middle school curriculum as well as attitudes toward forests and environmental sensitivity through the forest education program.
The politics instruction, where utilizing an online game named 'Goonzu' as an instructional tool had been implemented to students from four classes of 5th grade during ten weeks. Four teachers participated in teaching the students and constructed curriculum by playing 'Goonzu' and analyzing the regular elemental school Politics curriculum before implementation. To verify effectiveness of the instruction, the survey, asking students' efficacy, interest and their cognitive changes of main elements that students considered when they elected their representatives, was conducted. Moreover opinions about this instruction from the students and the teachers were gathered through the forms of interview and short essay. As the results of this research, students' efficacy toward doing politic activities was significantly increased. However, m case of students' interests to this instruction, there was no significant difference despite of increase of the mean. Also, students put more weight on intrinsic e1ements(daigency, responsibility) of the representative in online election than offline election and the students, who took the course, stressed intrinsic elements more than other students.
Educational efforts in integrating various subjects which are closely related to one another have had positive results. Additionally, integrating subjects has shown to be more effective than teaching subjects independently. The purpose of this study is to propose, construct, and develop a theme-based integrated program that teaches elementary school student's subjects which are outside the regular curriculum such as electricity, electronics, programming, and energy by using Diki-3000. Thus, having considered the theoretical background of theme-based integrated program, elementary school subjects including home economics, science, social studies, and extracurricular activities have been analyzed and restructured into theme-based program. Students will learn about and familiarize themselves with these subjects by utilizing the Diki-3000 product. This program aims to improve students understanding of the aforementioned subjects by combining Diki-3000's strengths as an educational tool with the contents of theme-based integrated program. Moreover, the learning experiences gained from completing critical problem-solving activities which are beyond normal subject knowledge is expected to help develop learners' positive thinking skills.

Considering the present and expected demand for human resources by the maritime community, its quantity and quality depend on the number of the ships and the technology applied to them. Scientific and economic developments in this community bring the intensive use of modem technology for many of ships operation. Generally it effects to reduce the quantity of manpower, while it increases the requirement of qualifications of human resources to utilize such advanced technology. Considering above, the maritime education, training and research activities should be revised and updated according to the demand of the community. Because of a difference between the transition of the demand for the human resources and development of the maritime education, training and research activities, there are two most common questions as “What to teach” and “How to teach”. The first question has been asked for many years. The contents of maritime education and training are always related to the existing maritime knowledge and technology and should be updated with consideration of changes of the demand namely “Globalisation of maritime community”. It brings globalisation of the maritime education, training and research activities. The second question is still keeping us busy to look for the best way. Presently traditional methods are used together with new system, while the use of sophisticated simulation, communication and information systems etc. and it is changing our understanding on teaching. This paper introduces the new role of Maritime Institutions from the viewpoints of the maritime education. training and research activities. The role of guide for seafarers and maritime companies is always essential and the concepts such as “Refreshment Training”, “On the Job Training”, “Lifelong” or “Continuous Training” bring new understanding to the training period, trainee's age and position. As a result, the maritime institutions should be ready for their new role, which is, in brief, guiding the maritime society, recommending and providing new learning environments, organising research and developments, performing the education, training and assessment, improving existing methods and developing new methods of the education, training and assessment.
This study aims to analyze the characteristics of GIS-related test items of high school Korean Geography in the 7th National Education Curriculum, and to discuss some issues and challenges. First, we developed a framework for analyzing test items based on the literature review and the content analysis on the textbooks, which categorizes test items in terms of content elements and activity elements. Then, we examined test items of nation-wide tests including CSAT(College Scholastic Ability Test) carried out 2004-2012 and analyzed the percentage of correct answers as well. According to the results, there was a significant predominance of particular test item categories, and the percentage of correct answers of GIS-related items was slightly higher than whole average but it depended on the test item categories. Finally, we discussed the implications of this analysis to the tests as well as the teaching-learning process in the classroom, and suggested improvement directions such as integration of GIS with other contents, reinforcement of the inquiry-based test items, maintaining moderate difficulty.

By the comparative analysis of middle school Home Economics curricula in the U.S, Sweden, japan, Taiwan, and Korea, this study attempts to understand the current Home Economics education and to access its trends for each country. Based on the findings of the analysis, this study also seeks to get the major implications of the analysis for the betterment of the Korean Home Economics Education. The main sources of information and data analyzed here are :1)curricula for 10 School Districts in Pennsylvania state as representives of the U.S ; 2)Home Economics curriculum for middle school in Sweden ; 3) Home Economics Teaching Guidelines in Japan ;4)Home Economics curriculum in Taiwan ; and 5) Home Economics curriculum in Korea. Content Analysis technique is applied in this study. The major elements of contents include :1)structure of the curriculum ;2)subject name ; 3)time allotment; 4)goals and objectives ; 5)subject areas and content composition ; 6) other related characteristics for the implemention of the curriculum Summarized results of the study outline as follows; 1)Home Economics is offered as independently required subject without sex discrimination in all five countries. 2)Time allotment for Home Economics in Sweden is double that in the other countries. 3)The common goals of Home Economics courses is practical learning experiences closely related to reality. 4) In terms of subjects areas, Food and Nutrition, Clothing & Textiles, Housing Human Development, and Child care are offered in three of four countries, which is also similar to those of Korea. In addition Consumer Education is also covered in the U.S., Sweden and Korea. 5)Curriculum can be utilized as instructional planning materials due to the clear specification of instructional method, materials, and evaluation method on the curriculum, especially in the U,S, and Taiwan.
In National Curriculum of Science revised in 2007, the Free Inquiry was newly introduced to increase students' interest in science and to foster creativity by having students make their own question and find answer by themselves. The purpose of the study was to analyze characteristics, in cognitive domain, appeared in the processes of performing the Free Inquiry activities applying a brain-based evolutionary science teaching and learning principles. For this study, 106 fifth grade students participated, and they performed individually Free Inquiry activities. In order to characterize of the diversifying, estimating-evaluating-executing, and extending-applying activities in cognitive domain (C-DEF), the Free Inquiry diary constructed by the students, observations by a researcher, and interviews with the students were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The major results of this study were as follows: First, at C-D step, many students (71.5%) had difficulty in searching the meanings of their results and the contents of interpretations were at the level of simple description of their results. A few students (15.2%) derived interpretations based on causal relationships between specific variable and result. Also, the tendency that the numbers of interpretation about meaning of their results were increased as the scores of science attitude and achievement was appeared. Second, at C-E step, the students showed tendency of considering facts exactly explaining inquiry topic and being appliable to daily life rather than objectivity or accuracy of scientific knowledge. Third, at C-F step, there were three types of extension and application: simple repetition (8.2%), extension (64.0%), and upward application (17.6%) types. Based on these findings, implications for supporting appropriate interpretation, evaluation, and application of inquiry results are discussed.
In this study, how to instruct the computational estimation of addition and subtraction was considered from the perspective of a 'intended-written-implemented' multi-dimensional curriculum. To this end, the 2015 revised elementary school mathematics curriculum as a intended curriculum and the 2015 revised first~sixth grade textbook as a written curriculum were analyzed with respect to how to instruct the computational estimation of addition and subtraction. As an implemented curriculum, a research study was conducted in relation to the method of instructing teachers about the computational estimation of addition and subtraction. As a result, first, it is necessary to discuss how to develop the ability to estimate and set it as a teaching goal and achievement standard in a separate curriculum to instruct it with learning content. Second, it is necessary to provide an opportunity to learn about various estimation methods by presenting specific activities so that students can learn the estimation itself in a separate operation method. Third, in order to improve the computational estimating ability of addition and subtraction, contents related to the computational estimation need to be included in the achievement criteria, and discussions on the expansion of the areas, and the diversification of the instructing time will be needed.
The purpose of this study is to examine the development of theory of mind on the story sharing with picture books. The subject of this study is 38 five years olds children who are attending C kindergarten in J city, Jeollabuk-do province. It was executed that an twelve sections of storytelling with picture books during six weeks. The storytelling activities were performed with predicting and listening of picture book contents, problem situation knowing and story sharing, feeling of the character mind condition, and activities evaluating. The results were as follows. First, the story sharing with picture books were significantly different between the groups on the development of mind. Second, the story sharing with picture books including theory of mind were effective on the perspective taking ability. The results showed that the story sharing with picture books was effective teaching and learning method.

The 'Informatics' curriculum for middle school revised in 2007 will be applied since 2010 in school. However, it is difficult to utilize directly school setting because educational contents presented in the curriculum are very comprehensive. Therefore, we need to present specific standards and examples to guide teaching and learning and assessment activities in school setting and right comprehension about new revised curriculum. In this study, we developed the achievement and assessment standards for the 'Representation and Management of Information' unit of Informatics curriculum for middle school revised in 2007. And then, we presented sample questions base on achievement and assessment standards we developed. The levels of the achievement unit were set in the small unit level through the understanding and the analysis of the new curriculum. We described the achievement standards from student's viewpoint and the assessment standards divide into three level(high/middle/low).
