  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of those teachers who attentd the second annual environmental education program for certification of a second-major regarding environmental education, and to provide reference materials for development of the next phase in environmental education programs and environmental textbooks. A survey methodology was used in the study. A survey, consisting of 16 questions, was developed by the researchers. The subjects consisted of 97 teachers. The teachers revealed their opinions in five categories of the survey, including environmental subjects, increased education and knowledges on environmental issues, a middle school environmental textbook, teaching methods on environment, and the structure of the program. Results from this study suggest a few directions for improvement of the next annual environmental certification program and the secondary school environmental textbooks.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to take a look at a controversial approach to critical discourse analysis for the suggestion of a well-balanced perspective on such a biased presupposition and methodology. Currently linguists, language teachers and even social scientists have shown their strong interests in critical language awareness and its ideological involvements in order to encourage the general public to realize the social function of language in all modes of communication. It seems, however, to me to be increasingly clear that critical language study calls for a careful attempt based on an appropriate combination of textual facts and contextual factors in the interpretation of discourses. From this point, of view, this paper suggests some pedagogic / analytical guidelines for a study on language and its social connotations as a result of examining the cogency of two contrasting argumentations in relation to critical discourse analysis.

  • This paper addresses the time and motion study on the woodworking in the primary school. Time study by stopwatch is performed for calculating the standard tie of woodworking. The operator process chart is developed for better illustration and teaching methodology. The purpose of this study is to present a good guideline for woman teachers or beginers(teachers), as well as to provide how much time units are adequate for a special woodworking unit of practice art. According to the result, the contribution of this paper is very much and it is very useful for both teachers and students.

  • In order to achieve high accuracy of teaching and increase productivity using industrial robots in polishing process of dies, an off-line task programming system was developed on IBM-PC/386 under WINDOWS 3.0 operating system. The internal structure and the machematical basis of CAMPoli are described. Surface modeling technique of polishing dies with sculptured surfaces is introduced by poing data interpolation methodology through the use of CL-data transmitted from conventional CAM system. Tool selection, polishing speed, polishing pressure and kinds of tool motions can be determined and selected by user specified polishing variables. Task creation and verification of polishing path via computer graphics simulation of polishing tool can be done by the menu- driven function of CAMPoli system. Post-processing module is attached to generate robot language. Some simulation results are provided as verification means of the system.

  • Using the self-evaluation test proposed by D. Girdano, et al., the psycological, and biological causes and personality factors of the stress of the nursing students of K university in local county are measured and analyzed. As fundamental data to overcome these kinds of stress, the overall stress profiles are proposed. The results of this study are ; 1) The freshman group is very susceptible to the stress due to the behavior type and anxiety-reactive personality. 2) The sophomore group is very susceptible to the stress due to frustration, the behavior type and anxiety-reactive personality. 3) Two groups are not susceptible to the stress due to diet and noise. Since the stress is the multi-dimensional phenomena, it is necessary to reduce these stress that the life style of each Individual students be changed and the curriculm and the teaching methodology in nursing school be developed.

  • The Bodysonic system was invented on the basis of 'Bone Conduction Theory,' which states that people feel sounds with their whole body. The Bodysonic system is used for L2 (English) learning at Aichi Women's Junior College. In recent years we have developed some unique methodology related to use of the Bodysonic system. In Japan it is difficult for adult L2 learners to acquire the prosody of a foreign language. A language laboratory using the Bodysonic system has been suggested as one way to eradicate such adult L2 problems. The Bodysonic system changes sounds into vibrations. It makes it easy for learners to acquire the prosody of a foreign language because humans can convey information, through their tactile organs. In addition, this system was originally designed to make people relax, so it can also help minimize learner anxiety. The effect of Bodysonic vibrations on language learning has already been proven by some experiments. The Bodysonic system appears to be an ideal teaching method for adult to learn a foreign language.

  • Sixty-four EC-6 teacher candidates were asked to elaborate on the method they used when interrupting seven mathematical pictorial models. The instrument used was research designed but modeled after a 4th grade released state tests. This study was conducted in the southern part of the United States. A panel of experts worked with the researcher to determine the most appropriate initial approach to interrupting the mathematical pictorial model. The pictorial models examined such concepts as measurement, place value and time. Since the questions were on a 4th grade level, it was expected that the teacher candidates would score 100%, however, this was not the case. The results will be given in the paper as each question is discussed. The results of the survey are being used to develop teaching modules for teacher candidates in mathematics methodology classes.

  • The purpose of this paper is to improve scientific attitude and interest of the elementary school students by using STEAM-based robots in education. In this work, we analyzed PDIE model that describes methodology for generating STEAM integrated education materials and then we also developed teaching materials utilizing STEAM-based robots. The effect of the STEM-based robots in education was analyzed through a test class which demonstrated the robots indeed help improving scientific attitude and interest of students. During the class, individual knowledge and experience of the students were integrated into the STEAM-based robots which then provide customized help for each student so that they have better understanding and interest in science, technology, and engineering field.

  • The paper reports results of recent studies on the effects of column support conditions on the lateral displacements of moment frames at incipient collapse. The article presents a number of exercises in the plastic theory of structures that lead to useful design formulae. It has been shown that Drift Shifting (DS) is caused due to differences in the stiffnesses of adjoining columns, and that changes in drift ratios are more pronounced at first level column joints in both fixed as well as pinned base frames. In well proportioned moment frames, DS in the upper levels could be minimized, even reduced to zero. It has been demonstrated that DS can be eliminated in properly designed fixed and grade beam supported (GBS) moment frames. Several examples, including symbolic P-delta effects, have been provided to demonstrate the validity and the applications of the proposed ideas to the design and drift control of moment frames. The proposed methodology is exact within the bounds of the theoretical assumptions and is well suited for preliminary design and teaching purposes.
