The Determinant Factors of Media in Solving Performance Assessment Task of Elementary and Middle School Students (수행평가 과제 해결에 있어 초·중학생의 매체 결정 요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between media richness, media usefulness, media experience and media decision in order to identify factors that determine the media of school library in solving performance evaluation tasks. For this purpose, 132 primary and middle school students were surveyed and their structural equation was set up by hypothesis setting, validity test, and causal model. As a result, it was confirmed that media experience of school library is a major factor in media decision. Also, media richness and media experience appeared to influence media decision through media usefulness. The analysis implies that school library is centered on teaching - learning process and evaluation, so information literacy education should be carried out in school curriculum and school library is required to provide students experience on media as the center of school education.

A Development of Program Outcome(PO) Evaluation System of Non-face-to-face Capstone Design (비대면 설계교과목의 학습성과(PO) 평가체계 개발)

  • The objective of this research is to devise a BARS evaluation system as a performance evaluation plan for non-face-to-face capstone design and to verify the validity through the expert FGI as the remote education is highlighted as a new normal standard in the post corona epoch. The conclusion of this research is as follows. First, the non-face-to-face capstone design is a competency centered subject that allows you to develop the engineering and majoring knowledge and its function and attitude, and the achievement of program outcome is the objective competency, and the researcher proposes the BARS method evaluation, one of competency evaluation method, as a new performance evaluation plan. Second, for the evaluation of PO achievement of non-face-to-face capstone design, the researcher deduced 20 behavior identification standard(anchor) of BARS evaluation system, and developed the achievement standard per 4 levels. Third, as the evaluation tool of non-face-to-face capstone design, the presentation data(PPT), presentation video, product such as trial product(model), non-face-to-face class participation video, discussion participating video, team activity report, and result report for the evidential data of BARS evaluation were appeared as proper. Finally, the BARS evaluation plan of non-face-to-face capstone design would be efficiently made through the establishment of evaluation plan, the establishment of grading standard of BARS evaluation scale, the determination of evaluation subject and online BARS evaluation site.

Information Needs and Information Seeking Behaviors of Students in the Science School for Gifted (과학영재학교 학생들의 정보요구 및 정보이용행태에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to analyze students' information needs and information-seeking behavior at science schools for gifted through in-depth interviews. The research design was conducted based on previous studies. Through in-depth interviews, this study examined ten students from six out of eight science schools for the gifted in Korea for information needs and overall information-seeking behavior. The results showed the information needs of students at science schools for gifted in the areas of curricular and extracurricular activities as well as the information-seeking behavior in teaching, learning, and research activities, which were the main topics of interest to students based on the ISP model. Based on these results, we identified the preferred information sources in the information-seeking process and discussed the peculiarities and implications of students' information-seeking behavior. The research is meaningful as it can be used as a basis for further research on the science school for gifted library and as a resource for providing services for students with deep interests and talents in science subject areas.

Design and Application of Geography Value Instruction of Using A Narrative (내러티브를 활용한 지리 가치 수업의 설계 및 적용)

  • This study is to point out importance of narrative as a way of learning values and interests for learners. Thus, geography value instruction models with narrative was developed and applied to teaching model. The results are as follows: First, narrative is useful to value education. Because narrative includes the contextual information, leaners are able to make a moral decision in respect of socio-cultural approach and to reach more truthful and practical decision with empathic understanding. Second, comparing with an expository text, the narrative text is more interesting, understandable, and preferred. Third, Web of meaning, one of scaffolding skills, is helpful to expand the scope of learner's thinking and group activity. Fourth, learner's awareness toward the topic changes. However, it is required to develop a practical method for elaborate assessment tool and for learners' active participation.

Influencing Factor of Nursing Students' Communication Competence and Practice Stress on Practice Satisfaction in Psychiatric Nursing Practice (정신간호학실습교육에서 간호학생의 의사소통능력과 실습스트레스가 실습만족도에 미치는 영향요인)

  • The aim of this study was to identify the influencing factors of nursing student' communication competence and practice stress on practice satisfaction in psychiatric nursing practice. The subjects of the study were 237 fourth-year nursing students. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were performed using the SPSS/WIN 24.0 program. As a result of the study, communication competence was positively related with practice satisfaction, and practice stress were negatively related with practice satisfaction. In regression analysis, Role model, communication competence, major satisfaction, and associated education were confirmed as the predictive factors of psychiatric nursing practice satisfaction. It is required to develop teaching and learning methods to increase student satisfaction in psychiatric nursing practice.

  • This study has been performed in order to achieve three objectives. They are as follows: To analyze, based on the research literatures, the nature of scientific inquiry ability and the characteristics of its constitutive elements. To identify inquiry skills and techniques essential to such areas as physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science. To develop instructional models and materials for enhancing inquiry ability on the part of high school students. It was found in the study that the scientific inquiry was interpreted in terms of different meanings according to the viewpoint of the person who are interested in the nature of science. The scientific inquiry has been viewed as the process of knowledge formation, scientific method, inquiry process or process skills depending on the epistemological, methodological, educational perspectives, respectively. It was also identified that certain kind of skills or techniques would be used for inquiry in only one specific area of the science. The skills and techniques are effectively learned when those are taught with specific knowledge in each area of the science. The model and materials for fostering scientific inquiry skills will be presented on the second part of the report.

Reflections on the Primary School Mathematics Curriculum in the Netherlands - Focused on Number and Operations Strand - (네덜란드의 초등 수학 교육과정에 대한 개관 - 자연수와 연산 영역을 중심으로 -)

  • The study aims to get real picture of primary mathematics education based on RME in the Netherlands focusing on number and operations strand by reflecting and analyzing the documents in relation to the primary school mathematics curriculum. In order to attain these purposes, the present paper describes the core goals for mathematics education, Dutch Pluspunt textbook series for the primary school, and a learning-teaching trajectory by TAL project which are determinants of the Dutch primary school mathematics curriculum. Under these reflections on the documents, it is analyzed what is the characteristics of number and operations strand in the Nether-lands as follows: counting numbers, contextualization, positioning, structuring, progressive algoritmization based on levels, estimation and insightful use of a calculator. Finally, discussing Points for improving our primary mathematics curriculum and textbook series development are described.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an inquiry-based professional development program for in-service secondary science teachers and to investigate it's application. The inquiry-based professional development program was reconstructed based on SSCS problem-solving model, which is composed of 4 stages of search, solve, create, and share. The 28 science teachers' understanding of the SSCS program were investigated as implementing the program. As a result of this study, 8 SSCS modules have developed as the science teachers have searched, solved, created, and shared various situated problems. The science teachers found themselves to have positive perception of SSCS program. The SSCS program was effective in changing the learners' teaching/learning attitude and to develop individual scientific thinking. To make the SSCS problem solving successful and more effective, both science teachers' professionalism and pedagogical knowledge for selecting topic as the levels of learner should be considered.

The Effect of Anchored Instruction on Elementary School Students' Problem-solving in Algorithm Learning (앵커드 수업을 통한 알고리즘 학습이 초등학생의 문제해결력에 미치는 영향)

  • The flow of computer education in modern knowledge and information society contains the computer science courses to cultivate the higher-level thinking abilities such as logical thinking skills, creativity, and problem-solving ability of learners. The purpose of this study is to recognize the need to promote the algorithmic thinking power to improve the problem solving ability of learners, to design the algorithm class based on the anchored instruction strategy for elementary school students and to verify the effectiveness. Anchored instruction model and cases are added to the class. Elementary school students were subjects and divided into a control group in which the traditional algorithm teaching method was conducted and an experimental group in which algorithm class was conducted applying anchored instruction. As results, an experimental group has shown improvements on problem solving compared to a control group.

Fostering Algebraic Reasoning Ability of Elementary School Students: Focused on the Exploration of the Associative Law in Multiplication (초등학교에서의 대수적 추론 능력 신장 방안 탐색 - 곱셈의 결합법칙 탐구에 관한 수업 사례 연구 -)

  • Given the growing agreement that algebra should be taught in the early stage of the curriculum, considerable studies have been conducted with regard to early algebra in the elementary school. However, there has been lack of research on how to organize mathematic lessons to develop of algebraic reasoning ability of the elementary school students. This research attempted to gain specific and practical information on effective algebraic teaching and learning in the elementary school. An exploratory qualitative case study was conducted to the fourth graders. This paper focused on the associative law of the multiplication. This paper showed what kinds of activities a teacher may organize following three steps: (a) focus on the properties of numbers and operations in specific situations, (b) discovery of the properties of numbers and operations with many examples, and (c) generalization of the properties of numbers and operations in arbitrary situations. Given the steps, this paper included an analysis on how the students developed their algebraic reasoning. This study provides implications on the important factors that lead to the development of algebraic reasoning ability for elementary students.
