  • The author carried out an experiment to find out the response of cat shark, Scyliorhinus torazame(Tanaka) to the colored lights. The experimental thank (360L$\times$50W$\times$55H cm) was set up in a dark room. Six longitudinal sections with 60cm intervals are marked in the tank to observe th location of the fish. Water depth in the tank was kept 50cm level. Light bulbs of 20W at the both ends of the tank projected the light horizontally into the tank. Two different colored filters were selected from four colors of red, blue, yellow, and white, and they were placed in front of the light bulbs to make different colors of light. Light intensity were controlled by use of auxiliary filters intercepted between the bulb and the filter. The fishes were acclimatized in the dark for 50 minutes before they were employed in the experiment. Upon turning on the light, the number of fish in each section was counted 40 times in 30 second intervals, and the mean of the number of fish in each section was given as the gathering rate of the fish. The favorite color of the fish was found in the order of yellow, white, blue and red in day time, and red, blue, white and yellow at night time. The variation of the gathering rate on illumination time was very little and showed more stability in day time than at night time. The differences of the gathering rates to two selected colors out of the four colors were greater regardless of illumination time.

  • Matrix dominant properties of composites are largely degraded under harmful environments such as temperature and humidity. Therefore we should consider the harmful environmental factors in the design of an UAV integral fuel tank subjected to high temperature and high humidity. The harmful environment experiment was performed for carbon/epoxy composites made of a unidirectional prepreg USN175B, and a plain woven fabric prepreg WSN3. The immersion experiment was performed under $90^{\circ}C$. The specimens were tested when the weight gam of specimen was saturated. The specimens were tested under $74^{\circ}C$ to obtain tensile and inplane shear properties. The results showed that the matrix dominant properties were extremely degraded by hygrothermal environment. To consider the variability of load, the anti-optimization method was applied. By using this method, the worst load case was found by comparing the load convex model and stability boundary. The stability boundary was obtained by analysis of the integral wing fuel tank of UAV using degraded properties. To do this, it was known that the worst load case of the integral wing fuel tank was the hovering mode load case.

  • The whole process from the model design to the results of the test, of hydraulic model test of restricted entry surge tank of Hapcheon dam, is reviewed with the respect to the flowchart of the experiment. And the experimental results are compared with the numerical values which are calculated by Runge-Kutta-Gill scheme. The comparision show a reasonable agreement. In final design, it doesn't matter that only numerical values are considered in case of the short design period, or difficulties of budget, and or the comparably simple type surge tank as Hapcheon dam.

  • Because of layer and scattering in the ocean, there are some problem in algorithm currently used for the recognition of targets. Those are time delay of processing and circuit design. The simple method of detecting direct sound wave in noise caused by time delay is proposed-recognized, estimated, and then direcxt sound wave is reconstructed by the AMDF and $\mu$-processor. 2KHz, 4KHz, 8KHz, 12KHz, 16KHz sound waves are used in experiment. To obtain a reference signal, anechoic water tank is used is processing and aluminium water tank used instead of real ocean. As a result, there are a few errors which caused by anechoic water tank error, decreasing of frequency make errors. Possibility of application to Sonar Signal Processing is proved.

  • Many researches have been studied several vibration control device such as TMD and TLD to reduce the influence of wind or seismic waves for high-rise buildings. TLD provides some advantages such as easy installation and low maintenance cost. However, because of the difficulties in evaluating the characteristics of TLD, the dynamic characteristics of TLD must be investigated by experiment or analysis. In this study, the dynamic response analysis of structure with TLD was carried out to verify the vibration control ability of the proposed TLD for high-rise building with about 60 stories. A real seismic wave was used, and the parameter of interest was chosen by the height of water level in the same shape of water tank. From the numerical results, the responses of structure with water tank were confirmed to be safer than those of structure without water tank.

  • To make a efficient grounding facilities, it is very important to assume electrical potential distribution and grounding resistance previously in grounded electrode circumference, when the current flow to grounded electrode. In this paper, grounding resistance analyzed from grounding surface electrical potential in grounded rectangular electrode plate is compared to grounding resistance by theoretical expression and grounding resistance measured by simulated experiment in the water tank.

  • In this paper we analyzed the performance of data transmission using BPSK modulation. The system performances were evaluated by the experiments in water tank. As a result we showed the influences of reverberation due to the multipath. In order to simplify the experiment procedure the channel coding etc. were omitted. The experimental result shows that the maximum transmission data rate in used water tank is about 350 bps at bit error rate of $10^{-3}$.

  • In this study, laboratory experiments were performed to investigate the flow characteristics of a two-dimensional neutrally buoyant jet in the inlet region of a rectangular laboratory settling tank. Velocity measurements were made with a three-component ADV. Two types of baffles were installed in front of two-dimensional slot; a one-sided and a two-sided baffle. The flow fields from a plane jet impinging on these two types of baffles and a plane jet without a baffle showed quite different characteristics. To concentrate on investigating these flow characteristics, the effects of density currents due to temperature difference or the presence of sediments were not studied. Results of the experiments reveal that the use of the two-sided baffle results in the shortest inlet region. Also shown is that, in addition to the types of baffles, the Froude number turns out to be an important factor in the extent of the inlet region.

  • This paper describes the system for detecting the tank crew's(loader's) hand, arm, head and the upper half of the body in a danger area between the turret ceiling and the upper breech mechanism by computer vision-based method. This system informs danger of pressed to death to gunner and commander for the safety of operating mission. The camera mounted ort the top portion of the turret ceiling. The system sets search moving object from this image and detects by using change of image, laplacian operator and clustering algorithm in this area. It alarms the tank crews when it's judged that dangerous situation for operating mission. The result In this experiment shows that the detection rate maintains in $81{\sim}98$ percents.

  • Recently, Korea has established a plan for the supply of hydrogen vehicles and is promoting the expansion of the supply. Risk factors for hydrogen vehicles are hydrogen leakage, jet fire, and explosion. Therefore Safety measures are necessary for this hazard. In addition, risks in semi-closed spaces such as tunnels, underground roads, and underground parking lots should be analyzed. In this study, an explosion experiment was conducted on a hydrogen tank used in a hydrogen vehicle to analyze the risk of a hydrogen vehicle explosion accident that may occur in a semi-closed space. As results, the effect on the structure and the human body was analyzed using the overpressure and impulse values for each distance generated during the explosion.
