This paper proposes a novel linearization method for Takagi.sugeno (TS) fuzzy model. A T-S fuzzy controller consists of linear controllers based on local linear models and the local linear controllers cannot be designed independently because of overall stability conditions which are usually conservative. To use linear control theories easily for T-S fuzzy system, the linearization of T-S fuzzy model is required. However, The linearization of T-S fuzzy model is difficult to be achieved by using existing linearization methods because fuzzy rules and membership functions are included in T-S fuzzy models. So, a new linearization method is proposed for the T-S fuzzy system based on the idea of T-S fuzzy state transformation. For the T-S fuzzy system linearized with uncertainties, a robust optimal controller with the robustness of sliding model control(SMC) is designed.

This paper introduces a $L_{\infty}$-gain state feedback fuzzy controller design for the time delay nonlinear system represented by Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model. First, the T-S fuzzy model is employed to represent the time delay nonlinear system. Next based on the fuzzy model, a fuzzy state feedback controller is developed to achieve $L_{\infty}$-gain performance. Finally, sufficient conditions are derived for $L_{\infty}$-gain performance. The sufficient conditions are formulated in the format of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The effectiveness of the proposed controller design methonology is finally demonstrated through numerical simulations.

In this paper, we consider the optimal fuzzy filter of nonlinear discrete-time with estimation error variance constraint. First, the Takagi and Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model is employed to approximate the nonlinear system. Next, the error state is mean square bounded, and the steady state variance of the estimation error of each state is not more than the individual predefined value. It is shown that, the addressed problem can be carried out by solving linear matrix inequality(LMI) and some algebraic quadratic matrix inequalities. Finally, some examples are provided to illustrate the design procedure and expected performance through simulations.

Underwater robotic vehicles (URVs) have been an important tool for various underwater tasks because they have greater speed, endurance, depth capability, and safety than human divers. As the use of such vehicles increases, the vehicle control system becomes one of the most critical subsytems to increase autonomy of the vehicle. The vehicle dynamics are nonlinear and their hydrodynamic coefficients are often difficult to estimate accurately. In this paper a new type of fuzzy model-based controller based on Takagi-Sugeno-Kang fuzzy model is designed and applied to the control of of an underwater robotic vehicle. The proposed fuzzy controller : 1) is a nonlinear controller, but a linear state feedback controller in the consequent of each local fuzzy control rule ; 2) can guarantee the stability of the closed-loop fuzzy system ; 3) is relatively easy to implement. Its good performance as well as its robustness to the change of parameters have been shown and compared with the re ults of conventional linear controller by simulation.

This paper presents intelligent digital redesign method of global approach for hybrid state space fuzzy-model-based controllers. For effectiveness and stabilization of continuous-time uncertain nonlinear systems under discrete-time controller, Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy model is used to represent the complex system. And global approach design problems viewed as a convex optimization problem that we minimize the error of the norm bounds between nonlinearly interpolated linear operators to be matched. Also by using the power series, we analyzed nonlinear system's uncertain parts more precisely. When a sampling period is sufficiently small, the conversion of a continuous-time structured uncertain nonlinear system to an equivalent discrete -time system have proper reason. Sufficiently conditions for the global state -matching of the digitally controlled system are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMls). Finally, we prove the effectiveness and stabilization of the proposed intelligent digital redesign method by applying the chaotic Lorentz system.
Underwater robotic vehicles(URVs) have been an important tool for various underwater tasks such as pipe-lining, data collection, hydrography mapping, construction, maintenance and repairing of undersea equipment, etc because they have greater speed, endurance, depth capability, and safety than human divers. As the use of such vehicles increases, the vehicle control system is one of the most critical subsystems to increase autonomy of the vehicle. The vehicle dynamics are nonlinear and their hydrodynamic coefficients are often difficult to estimate accurately. It is desirable to have an intelligent vehicle control system because the fixed-parameter linear controller such as PID may not be able to handle these changes promptly and result in poor performance. In this paper we described and analyzed a new type of fuzzy model-based controller which is designed for underwater robotic vehicles and based on Takagi-Sugeno-Kang(TSK) fuzzy model. The proposed fuzzy controller: 1) is a nonlinear controller, but a linear state feedback controller in the consequent of each local fuzzy control rule; 2) can guarantee the stability of the closed-loop fuzzy system; 3) is relatively easy to implement. Its good performance as well as its robustness to parameter changes will be shown and compared with those of the PID controller by simulation.
Nowadays DC-DC converter has been used widely in electronic production. It has a high requirement in wide input voltage, load variations, stability, providing a fast transient response and the most important thing is that it can be applied easily and efficiently. However, it is not easy to be controlled because of nonlinear system. This study introduces a fuzzy linear control design method for nonlinear systems with optimal $H^{\infty}$ robustness performance. First, the Takagi and Sugeno fuzzy linear model is employed to approximate a nonlinear system. Next, based on the fuzzy linear model, a fuzzy controller is developed to stabilize the nonlinear system, and at the same time the effect of external disturbance on control performance is attenuated to a minimum level. Thus based on the fuzzy linear model, $H^{\infty}$ performance design can be achieved in nonlinear control systems. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) techniques are employed to solve this robust fuzzy control problem. PI control structure is used and the control gains are determined based on $H^{\infty}$ control.

This paper studies digital control of biodynamic model of HIV-1 via intelligent digital redesign (IDR). The purpose of the IDR is to develop an equivalent digital fuzzy controller maintaining the satisfactory performance of an existing continuous-time fuzzy controller in the sense of the state-matching. Some conditions for the stability as well as the global state-matching are provided.. They are given by the form of the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and thereby easily tractable by the convex optimization techniques. The main features of the proposed method are that 1) the generalized control scheme is provided for the multirate as well as the single-rate digital controllers; 2) a new compensated block-pulse function method is applied to closely match the states of the continuous-time and the sampled-data fuzzy systems in the discrete-time domain; 3) the two-step procedure of IDR is presented to prevent the performance degradation caused by the additional stability conditions. The applicability of the proposed approach is shown through the biodynamic model of HIV-1.

Fuzzy modelling has the approximation property far the given input-output relationship. Especially, Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models are widely used because they show very good performance in the nonlinear function approximation problem. But generally there is not the systematic method incorporating the human expert's knowledge or experience in fuzzy rules and it is not easy to End the membership function of fuzzy rule to minimize the output error as well. The ANFIS (Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference Systems) is one of the neural network based fuzzy modelling methods that can be used with various type of fuzzy rules. But in this model, it is the problem to End the optimum number of fuzzy rules in fuzzy model. In this paper, a new fuzzy modelling method based on the ANFIS and pruning techniques with the measure named impact factor is proposed and the performance of proposed method is evaluated with several simulation results.
In the construction of successful fuzzy models and/or controllers for nonlinear systems, the identification of a good fuzzy inference system is an important yet difficult problem, which is traditionally accomplished by a time-consuming trial-and-error process. In this paper, we propose a systematic identification procedure for complex multi-input single-output nonlinear systems with DNA coding method. A DNA coding method is optimization algorithm based on biological DNA as conventional genetic algorithms(GAs) are. The strings in the DNA coding method are variable-length strings, while standard GAs work with a fixed-length coding scheme. the DNA coding method is well suited to learning because it allows a flexible representation of a fuzzy inference system. We also propose a new coding method fur applying the DNA coding method to the identification of fuzzy models. This coding scheme can effectively represent the zero-order Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy model. To acquire optimal TS fuzzy model with higher accuracy and economical size, we use the DNA coding method to optimize the parameters and the number of fuzzy inference system. In order to demonstrate the superiority and efficiency of the proposed scheme, we finally show its application to a Duffing-forced oscillation system.
