영유아 기관에서의 TV·비디오시청과 교사인식 (Television and Video Viewing at Early Childhood All-day Program Settings and Teachers' Recognition of Its Effects on Young Children)

  • This research investigated television and video viewing of young children in early childhood all-day program settings and teachers' recognition of its effects on young children through the survey of 452 early childhood teachers. The results show that television and video viewing is used as a whole group activity during transition period and/or waiting time activity for children who come earlier in the morning and remain late until closing time. It means television and video viewing at early childhood settings is mainly used as a group baby sitter or pacifier. Daily viewing time is about 44.02 minutes and early childhood teachers show low recognition of their role in children's viewing habits. Young children's viewing patterns and time are differed by teachers' variables so that young children of beginning teachers at small size settings appear more viewing time. Teachers show more negative recognition of television and video viewing on young children when they are older and have higher educational level and longer education experiences. The results also show that the more teachers have positive recognition on television and video viewing, the more young children are exposed to television and video viewing in their classes.

네이버TV캐스트 클립영상의 TV 방송프로그램에 대한 인지된 대체가능성 (Perceived Substitutability between Video Clips of Naver TV Cast and Regular TV program)

  • TV를 통한 방송프로그램 시청 등 수동적인 태도로 미디어를 이용하던 과거와 달리 현대의 시청자는 원하는 시간에 원하는 장소에서 원하는 콘텐츠를 본다. 이러한 비선형적 시청행태에 적합한 영상 콘텐츠 형태로서 클립영상이 있다. 클립영상은 기존 방송프로그램을 5~10개로 분절하거나 처음부터 짧은 길이로 기획한 영상 콘텐츠이다. 선형적 미디어 환경에서 비선형적 미디어 환경으로 변화하면서 여러 미디어 간 경쟁이 치열해지고 있으며, 기존 미디어의 콘텐츠가 타 미디어에서 다른 형태로 제공되고 있다. 미디어와 콘텐츠 간 경쟁이 치열해지는 시점에서 이 연구는 네이버TV캐스트의 클립영상 이용자를 대상으로 설문을 진행하여, 클립영상 이용량, 클립영상 이용동기, 클립영상 유형별 시청정도가 클립영상의 TV 방송프로그램에 대한 인지된 대체가능성에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 살펴보았다. 연구결과, 클립영상 이용량, 이용동기의 대인관계, 선택적이용, 화제성 요인과 웹전용 콘텐츠의 시청정도가 클립영상의 TV 방송프로그램에 대한 인지된 대체가능성에 유의미한 영향을 주었다.

유아의 비디오 시청에 있어 부모의 태도 및 관여에 대한 연구 (Parental Attitudes and mediation of Children's Video Viewing)

  • Parental attitudes and mediation of children's television viewing has focused primarily on broadcast television, although recent developments in technology have greatly expanded the availability of VCRs in home environment. To build a more comprehensive model of parental mediation of TV Viewing in the new video environment, this article analyzed parental attitudes toward children's video viewing and factors associated with parental mediation of children's video viewing using questionnaire responses from 659 mothers of four to six-year-old children. Both restrictive and evaluative parental mediation were associated with not only parental factors but also contextual factors. Descriptive data on parental attitudes and mediation of children's video viewing were also presented.

  • This survey of 659 mothers examined maternal childrearing attitudes of over-protectiveness vs. active involvement and restrictive and/or evaluative TV/Video viewing mediation in relation to children's emotional, cognitive and social development. Data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. Maternal over-protectiveness was highly associated with children's negative emotionality and maternal active involvement with children was the most important determinant of children's positive development. Furthermore, appropriate parental mediation of children's TV/Video viewing was related to children's higher cognitive and social ability as well as positive emotionality.

Customizing Ground Color to Deliver Better Viewing Experience of Soccer Video

  • In this paper, we present a method to customize the ground color in outdoor sports video to provide TV viewers with a better viewing experience or subjective satisfaction. This issue, related to content personalization, is becoming critical with the advent of mobile TV and interactive TV. In outdoor sports video, such as soccer video, it is sometimes observed that the ground color is not satisfactory to viewers. In this work, the proposed algorithm is focused on customizing the ground color to deliver a better viewing experience for viewers. The algorithm comprises three modules: ground detection, shot classification, and ground color customization. We customize the ground color by considering the difference between ground colors from both input video and the target ground patch. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme offers useful tools to provide a more comfortable viewing experience and that it is amenable to real-time performance, even in a software-based implementation.

영양소 섭취량과 스크린 시간이 학령 전 아동의 비만에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Nutrient Intake and Screen Time(Television Viewing and Computer and/or Video Games) on Preschool Children Obesity)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of nutrient intake, screen time (television viewing and computer and/or video games) and physical activity on obesity in preschool children. Recruitment began in January 2008 by distributing letters to mothers who had children aged 6 years enrolled in daycare. Dietary intakes were obtained from the children's mothers, using the 24-hour recall method. The average height and weight of the children were 114.2 cm and 20.3 kg, respectively. Mean age, body weight, height and Kaup index were not significantly different between groups consisting of boys or girls. Assessment by the Kaup index showed that 14.0% of children were underweight, 69.0% were normal weight, 13.0% were overweight, and 4% were obese. The daily intakes of calcium, potassium, fiber, and folic acid in the group of boys were 77.7%, 58.5%, 80.4% and 88.9% respectively. as compared with the DRIs. Intakes of protein, phosphorus, iron, zinc, vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin C, and vitamin E were higher than the DRIs. There were no difference among 3 groups (underweight, normal, overweight) in energy or nutrient intake. Preschool children with screen time (TV viewing and computer and/or video games use time) of >2 hours per day had significantly higher Kaup index values, and intakes of energy, carbohydrate, folic acid and zinc. In conclusion, preschool children with reported screen time (TV viewing and computer and/or video games use time) of >2 hours per day were fatter. Therefore, we need further investigate the relation between diet and screen time in preschool children to improve future nutrition education programs. Further studies are required to explore the effects of food intake and screen time (TV viewing and computer and/or video games use time) over a longer period of time.

유아의 공감에 관련된 변인 연구 (Factors related to Young Children′s Empathy)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify how characteristics of young children (sex, age, temperament), mothers (employed or unemployed, intimacy between mother and child, parenting attitudes), and home environment (pet, TV/Video viewing) relate to young children's empathy and to examine the relative effects of then variables on young children's empathy. The subjects for this study were 300 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds selected from kindergartens and day-care centers in Busan. Data were analyzed via t-test, correlation, and multiple regression. Results showed that girls had higher empathy score than boys. Young children's empathy was positively correlated with the sociability of young child's temperament, intimacy between mother and young child, reasoning guidance, affect, achievement of parenting attitudes, and parental intervention toward young child after TV/video viewing. However, young children's empathy was correlated negatively with authoritarian control of parenting attitudes. Among then variables, young children's sex was the most significant variable.

지상파와 종편·케이블 채널 간 프로그램의 화제성·프로그램 주목도와 능동적 시청의 관계 연구 (The Relationship between Program Talk of the Town, Program Attention and Active Viewing among Ground Wave Channel, TV Channels of Comprehensive Programming, Cable TV)

  • 본방송보다 OTT를 통한 프로그램 시청이 증가한 상황에서 이 연구는 인터넷을 통해 프로그램을 시청하는 동인을 프로그램 화제성과 프로그램 주목도로 보고, 이 변인들과 인터넷을 통한 TV 시청간의 관계를 분석했다. 능동적 시청을 동영상 조회, 좋아요, 댓글로 측정했다. 분석 대상 프로그램을 지상파와 종편 케이블 TV로 구분해서 분석한 결과 지상파 프로그램은 보도 량이 높으면 조회 수도 높았고, 댓글 수도 많았다. 종편과 케이블 프로그램도 보도 량이 높으면 조회 수가 높게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 가입자가 적은 종편과 케이블은 시청률이 지상파에 비해 낮은 반면, 본방송보다는 인터넷을 통해 시청하는 사람들이 많다는 것을 보여준다. 보도 량이 조회 수에 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀진 만큼 방송사는 언론 보도를 통한 화제성에 주목할 필요가 있다.

과학교육 관련 유튜브 동영상 콘텐츠 이용자들의 시청 특징 분석 (Analysis of the Users' Viewing Characteristics of YouTube Video Contents Related to Science Education)

  • 본 연구에서는 과학교육 관련 유튜브 동영상 콘텐츠 이용자의 시청 특징으로 학습자와 시스템의 상호작용을 알아보기 위해 '유입과 접속'을, 학습자와 콘텐츠의 상호작용을 알아보기 위해 '반응과 구독'으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 이를 위해 초등과학 교과서 내용과 융합·영재교육이 주된 동영상인 유튜브 채널 '초등과학TV'를 연구 대상으로 선정하여, 유튜브 스튜디오의 데이터를 분석하였다. 데이터 분석을 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 첫째, '유입과 접속' 분석 결과 과학교육 관련 유튜브 동영상 콘텐츠는 외부 링크를 통해 유입되는 경우가 가장 많았으며, 접속기기는 주로 컴퓨터였다. 둘째, '반응과 구독' 분석 결과 동영상에 대한 반응으로 수행하는 '좋아요'와 댓글 작성 등이 조회 수 대비 모두 1% 미만으로 반응을 거의 하지 않았으며, 대부분 이용자는 구독하지 않은 상태에서 시청하며 자발적으로 이용할 때 더 오래 시청하였다. 비록 이번 연구가 '초등과학TV'라는 한정된 채널을 통해서 분석되었지만, 과학교육 관련 유튜브 동영상 콘텐츠 이용자들의 시청 특징을 조금이라도 알아볼 수 있었다. 향후 원격수업을 위한 과학교육 관련 동영상 제작, 과학교육 동영상 플랫폼 구축의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.

취학전 아동의 친사회적 행동에 미치는 TV 및 언어적 훈련의 효과 (The Effect of Television and Verbal Training on Altruistic Behavior of Preschoolers)

  • The present study was designed to investigate the effect of altruistic TV viewing and verbal training on the altruistic behavior of preschoolers. The subjects of this study were a total of 56 boys and 57 girls from a kindergarten in Kwachon, Kyung-gi do. The subjects were assigned to one of three conditions: in the first condition subjects were shown video tapes designed to portray prosocial themes (TV modeling group) ; in the second condition subjects saw the video tapes in addition to verbal training (TV modeling plus verbal training group); in the third condition subjects received neither TV modeling nor verbal training (control group). Statistical analysis was by ANOVA and $Scherr\acute{e}$ test. Significant differences were found in altruistic behavior between the TV modeling and the TV modeling with verbal training groups.
