The Northeast Asia has been the fastest growing region in the world for the past few decades. And now the economic bloc maintains its status as a major powerhouse of the world economy. On the way of its economic growth, Russia and Central Asian countries have emerged as major trading partners. The Trans-Siberian Railway(TSR) has been playing a pivotal role in promoting economic cooperation between the two regions. This paper investigates economic environment of the Korean TSR service operators through the SWOT analysis, then proposes management strategies for them. For this purpose, the authors analyze characteristics and roles of the TSR service operators. In addition, a comparison of difference between service operators and shippers about their recognition of economic environment of the TSR transportation service is also carried out.

The development of the TSR-TKR Network will be regarded as the most important step towards the realization of integrated regional transportation system. If the TSR-TKR is constructed, there may be a possibility for the TKR to be used for shipments to Europe relacing marine shipments that take place at present. However, major forwarders think that it will not be easy to ensure the economic competitiveness of the TSR-TKR route. In this study, we have analyzed the optimim route for integration of opreation line on TSR-TKR.

Recently, the government of Russia has been cooperating with developed countries such as Germany, which have an advanced railroad system. They have been establishing a strategy to activate the Siberia Trans Railway. Thus, it is possible that a part of cargo will be transported by TSR (Trans Siberia Railway) instead of shipping. If there is a railroad system, connecting the North and the South Korea via the Busan port, a new freight route linking to Europe will be reached. This paper aim to investigate the intention of shipping companies, shipper, forwarders, who are prospective customers and/or competitors of TSR. An analysis of the competitiveness between TSR system and the waterway transportation will be also mentioned.

Background: The tumor-stroma ratio (TSR) represents the percentage of neoplastic cell components compared to the combined area of neoplastic cells and the surrounding tumor-induced stroma. A low TSR (predomination of stromal component) has been demonstrated to be an independent adverse prognostic factor in cancers of several organs. In cervical carcinoma patients, TSR has been evaluated in only one previous study with different histological types. The present study aimed to assess the prognostic value of TSR in early stage cervical cancer patients with adenocarcinoma histology only. Materials and Methods: Histological slides of patients with early stage (IB-IIA) cervical adenocarcinoma who underwent surgical treatment between January 2003 and December 2011 were reviewed. Patients who had received preoperative chemotherapy were excluded. TSR was categorized as low (<50%) and high (${\geq}50%$). Correlations between TSR and clinicopathological variables were evaluated. Prognostic values of TSR and other variables were estimated using Cox's regression. Results: Of 131 patients; 38 (29.0%) had low TSR and 93 (71.0%) had high TSR. The patients with low TSR had significantly higher proportions of deep cervical stromal invasion (outer third of wall, p=0.011; residual stroma less than 3 mm, p=0.008) and parametrial involvement (p=0.026). Compared to the patients with high TSR, those with low TSR tended to have lower 5-year disease-free survival rate (83.8% versus 88.9%) and overall survival rate (85.6% versus 90.3%), although the differences were not statistically significant. Low TSR was significantly associated with decreased overall survival in univariate analysis (HR 2.7; 95% CI 1.0-7.0; p=0.041), but not in multivariate analysis. TSR was not significantly associated with decreased disease-free survival. Conclusions: Low TSR is associated with decreased overall survival in patients with early stage cervical adenocarcinoma treated by surgery. However, it was not found to be an independent prognostic predictor in this study.

We are going to build a direct railway line between Europe and Asia by connecting North-South line. It can reduce a transportation distance by above 10,000km. But problems of TSR which is most important line have been exposed such as backward facilities and operations. In this paper we find out problems of TSR in detail and show those improvements.

TSR(Trans Siberian Railway)노선은 남한과 북한, 일본, 중국등 동북아시아와 유럽대륙을 연결하는 기간 운송망으로 그간 많은 국가에서 이를 활용해 왔다. 일본의 경우는 1971년 3월 일본과 나호드카항로에 컨테이너 선박을 취항하여 유라시아컨테이너복합 운송망사업에 참여하였으며, 남한의 경우도 1980년 중반부터 TSR을 이용해 운송하기 시작하였다. 남한의 TSR을 이용한 운송실적은 1991년 25,648Teu에서 1999년에 42,560Teu로 계속증가하고 있는 실정으로 그중 남한과 러시아의 직교역이 약 58%를 차지하고, 러시아를 통과하는 화물이 42%에 이르고 있다. The major trade area of the South Korea is divided into Asia, America and Europe. Generally, marine transportation is the main method of mass cargo transportation, but unlike others, rail transportation is available in the Europe area. Also, as a result of China's growth, South Korea's position as northeast Asia logistics hub has weakened. That is the reason why we need to pay attention to rail transportation, an alternative competitive structure. In accordance with this background, this study focuses on analyzing economic feasibility comparing transportation routes to Europe using Trans-Korea Railway and Trans-Siberia Railway. Factors of analysis are transportation distance, period, cost and additional cost As the result, considering economic feasibility, TKR-TSR route(Route1) is the best transportation approach for six routes. Therefore, using TKR-TSR railway will be the best way to increase nation's competitiveness, in response to Russia government's far-east development strategy.

TSR (Trans-Siberian Railway) route is losing price competitiveness versus Deep Sea route in the transportation from East Asia to Europe, including Moscow. To further attracting the containers to the TSR route, it will be necessary (1) to keep competitive through rate, linked to fluctuating Deep Sea rate; (2) to strengthen speed advantage; (3) to enforce seamless transportation system, including simplified customs clearance procedures. In transportation to Central Asia from East Asia (Korea and Japan), TSR is competitive versus TCR (Trans-China Railway), depending on destinations. Korea has been the leader in revitalizing the TSR route since 2000. Key contributors were affluent export containers to Russia and Central Asia, port of Busan, efficient maritime transport network to Far East Russia, and Korean forwarders' persistent efforts for activating the market. Korea and Japan have a possibility of cooperation in using the TSR route efficiently, such as organizing a joint block train to a same destination.

본 연구는 조류발전 터빈의 블레이드 형상 최적화 해석 시스템 개발에 대한 사전연구의 일환으로 EDISON CFD의 프로펠러 단독성능 S/W와 SNUFOAM ShipMesh Advanced 자동격자생성기를 이용하여 조류발전 터빈 주위 유동장에 대한 수치해석을 수행하였다. TSR 조건 변화에 따라 수치해석을 수행하고 이에 대한 power, total coefficient를 동일한 조건에서 수행된 실험결과와 비교 검증하여 해석자의 신뢰도를 확인하였다. 또한, 블레이드 전체를 모델링한 full body 해석과 하나의 블레이드만을 모델링한 single body 해석 결과를 비교하여 경제적이면서 정도 높은 터빈 성능해석 프로세스를 제안하였다. 조류발전 터빈의 TSR 조건 변화에 따라 낮은 TSR 조건에서는 국부적 와동발생에 의해 $C_P$가 감소하는 것을 확인하였고 설계 TSR에서 가장 좋은 효율을 보임을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 suction side의 압력 분포, 팁 와동의 강도 등 성능개선을 위한 주요한 설계변수를 식별하였다.

Nowadays, road transportation which has played a key role in the market of both passenger and freight transportation is facing with a serious problem, the traffic congestion causing a delay of transportation. Therefore, railroad transportation is considered as an attractive alternative mode of inland transportation due to its inherent merits in mass transportation such as relatively low cost compared with road transportations, less air pollution and noise than other mode ets. In this paper, therefore, we examine the current situation of railroad transportation markets including TKR(Trans- Korean Railway}, TSR(Trans-Siberian Railway} and prospects for the connection of TKR-TSR. And then we examine the structure of the container transportation market by railroad in Korea with a brief analysis of the traffic volume of TKR-TSR.
