  • An acoustic topology optimization method is developed to optimize the acoustic attenuation capability of a muffler. The transmission loss of the muffler is calculated by using the three-point method based on finite element analysis. Each element of the finite element model is assumed to have the variable acoustic properties, which are penalized by a carefully-selected interpolation function to yield clear expansion chamber shapes at the end of topology optimization. The objective of the acoustic topology optimization problem formulated in this work is to maximize the transmission loss at a target frequency. The transmission loss value at a deep frequency of a nominal muffler configuration can be dramatically increased by the proposed optimization method. Optimal muffler configurations are also obtained for other frequencies.

  • The main objective of this research is to present the procedures of combining topology, shape & sizing optimization for truss structure by employing strain energy as objective function under the constraints of volume fractions which yield more general solution than that of total weight approach. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used as searching engine for the convergence solution. A number of algorithms from previous research are used for evaluating the feasibility and stability of candidate to accelerate convergence and reduce the computational effort. It is followed by solving problem for topology & shape optimization and topology, shape & sizing optimization of truss structure to illustrate the feasibility of applying the objective function of strain energy throughout optimization stages.

  • An application of the constrained adaptive topology optimization (CATO) algorithm is described for three-dimensional topology optimization of engineering structures. The enhanced assumed strain lower order solid finite element (FE) is used to evaluate the values of objective and constraint functions required in optimization process. The strain energy (SE) terms such as elastic and modal SEs are employed as the objective function to be minimized and the initial volume of structures is introduced as the constraint function. The SIMP model is adopted to facilitate the material redistribution and also to produce clearer and more distinct structural topologies. The linearly weighted objective function is introduced to consider both static and dynamic characteristics of structures. Several numerical tests are tackled and it is used to investigate the performance of the proposed three-dimensional topology optimization process. From numerical results, it is found to be that the CATO algorithm is easy to implement and extremely applicable to produce the reasonable optimum topologies for three dimensional optimization problems.

  • Topology information can be aggregated in the network constructed hierarchically and aggregating topology information is known as TA(Topology Aggregation) and TA is very important for scalability in networks. It is a very important elements to extend networks and routing in networks. In paticular, routing and TA algorithm are much influence on networks performance in PNNI. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement routing simulator for TA in PNNI.

  • The T-type topology is a three-level topology that has an advantage in terms of its number of switching device and its efficiency when compared to the neutral-point clamped (NPC)-type topology. With the recent increase in the usage of the T-type topology, the interest in its reliability has also increased. Therefore, a tolerance control for a T-type rectifier is necessary to improve the reliability of applications when an open-switch fault occurs. NPC-type rectifiers cannot eliminate input current distortion completely. However, the T-type rectifier is able to restore distorted current. In this paper, a tolerance control for the $S_{x2}$ and $S_{x3}$ open-switch faults of a T-type rectifier is proposed where it is advantageous in terms of efficiency when compared with other tolerance controls. The performance of the proposed tolerance control is verified through simulation and experimental results.

  • The topology optimizations of electromagnetic systems with the nonlinear and the eddy current effects are studied using the finite element method. The topology design sensitivity formulations of nonlinear magnetostatics and eddy current systems are derived using the adjoint variable method. A computer program is developed using object orient programming and applied to the topology optimization of a C-core actuator. A numerical study shows the effects of saturation and eddy current by comparing results of topology optimizations.

  • The objective of this study is the development of size, shape and topology discrete optimum design algorithm which is based on the genetic algorithms. The algorithm can perform both shape and topology optimum designs of trusses. The developed algorithm was implemented in a computer program. For the optimum design, the objective function is the weight of trusses and the constraints are stress and displacement. The basic search method for the optimum design is the genetic algorithms. The algorithm is known to be very efficient for the discrete optimization. The genetic algorithm consists of genetic process and evolutionary process. The genetic process selects the next design points based on the survivability of the current design points. The evolutionary process evaluates the survivability of the design points selected from the genetic process. The efficiency and validity of the developed size, shape and topology discrete optimum design algorithms were verified by applying the algorithm to optimum design examples

  • A ubiquitous network allows all users to access and exchange information of any kind freely at any time, from anywhere, and from any appliance through the use of broadband and mobile access. Bluetooth commincation can provide the missing wireless extension to the heterogeneous network, allowing a more ubiquitous access. In this point of view, the BT specifications define ways for which each BT device can set up multiple connections with neighboring devices to communicate in a multi-hop fashion. this paper provides insights on the Bluetooth technology and on some limitations of the scatternet formations. so that, we describe a new multi-hop routing protocol for the establishment of scatternets. this protocol defines rules for forming a multi-hop topology in two phases. the first phase, topology discovery, concerns the discovery of the node's depth from a root node initiating inquiry process. the second phase forms scatternet topology based on the result of topology discovery.

  • This paper deals with the design of power topology for nuclear power plants. Although rod control system is still classified into non-safety class. much attention on its reliability issue has been given so far because of its importance for the stable operation of the reactor in the plant. In terms of technical aspects, proposed design is reviewed to satisfy system requirements. This paper deals with a design of power topology for driving Control Element Drive Mechanism (CEDM) that is used to withdraw or insert control rods in nuclear reactor.
