The Design and Implementation of a Control System for TCSC in the KERI Analog Power Simulator

  • This paper deals with the design and implementation of a TCSC (Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor) simulator, which is a module for an analog type power system simulator. Principally, it presents configuration of controller hardware/software and its experimental results. An analog type power system simulator consists of numerous power system components, such as various types of generator models, scale-downed transmission line modules, transformer models, switches and FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission System) devices. It has been utilized for the verification of the control algorithm and the study of system characteristics analysis. This TCSC simulator is designed for 50% line compensation rate and considered for damping resister characteristic analysis. Its power rate is three phase 380V 20kVA. For hardware extendibility, its controller is designed with VMEBUS and its main CPU is TMS320C32 DSP (Digital Signal Processor). For real time control and communications, its controller is applied to the RTOS (Real Time Operation System) for multi-tasking. This RTOS is uC/OS-II. The experimental results of capacitive mode and inductive mode operations verify the fundamental operations of the TCSC.

Adaptive Tracking Controller Design for Welding Mobile Manipulator with Unknown Parameters

  • This paper presents an adaptive tracking control method for a welding mobile manipulator with several unknown parameters such as the last length of the manipulator, the wheel radius and the distance from the center to the wheel. The mobile manipulator consisted of the manipulator and the mobile-platform. Kinematic modelings for the manipulator and the mobile-platform with several unknown parameters were produced. The tracking error vectors for the manipulator and the mobile-platform were defined. These adaptive controllers were designed based on the Lyapunov function to guarantee the stability of the whole system when the mobile manipulator performs a welding task. Update laws were also designed to estimate the unknown dimensional parameters. To implement the designed controllers, a control system integrated with PIC16F877 microprocessors and a TMS320C32 DSP was developed. Simulation and experimental results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed controllers.

  • In this paper, an algorithm to compensate the distorted signals due to Current Transformer(CT) saturation is suggested, First, DWT which can be easily realized by filter banks in real-time applications is used to detect a start point and an end point of the saturation. Secondly, For enough Datas those need to use the least-square curve fitting method, the distorted current signal is compensated by the AR(autoregressive) model using the data during the previous healthy section until pick point of Saturation. Thirdly, the least-square curve fitting method is used to restore the distorted section of the secondary current. Finaly, this algorithm had a Hadware test using DSP board(TMS320C32) with Doble test device. DWT has superior detection accuracy and the proposed compensation algorithm which shows very stable features under various levels of remanent flux in the CT core is also satisfactory. And this algorithm is more correct than a previous algorithm which is only using the LSQ fitting method. Also it can be used as a MU involving the compensation function that acquires the second data from CT and PT.

  • Neural network is used in many fields of control systems, but input-output patterns of a control system are not easy to be obtained and by using as single feedback neural network controller. And also it is difficult to get a satisfied performance when the changes of rapid load and disturbance are applied. To resolve those problems, this paper proposes a new algorithm which is the neural network controller. The new algorithm uses the neural network instead of activation function to control object at the output node. Therefore, control object is composed of neural network controller unifying activation function, and it supplies the error back propagation path to calculate the error at the output node. As a result, the input-output pattern problem of the controller which is resigned by the simple structure of neural network is solved, and real-time learning can be possible in general back propagation algorithm. Application of the new algorithm of neural network controller gives excellent performance for initial and tracking response and it shows the robust performance for rapid load change and disturbance. The proposed control algorithm is implemented on a high speed DSP, TMS320C32, for the speed of 3-phase induction motor. Enhanced performance is shown in the test of the speed control.

  • 변전소 자동화 시스템에서 IED(Intelligent Electronic Device)들 간의 효과적인 통신을 위해 표준프로토콜인 IEC-61850이 제시되면서 이를 구현하고 응용하기 위한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 본 논문은 IEC-61850 표준규격을 분석하여 제시된, 거리 계전 IED 모델을 이용해 송전선 보호 IED를 구현하였다. 통신기능 구현은 리눅스 커널 2.6 기반의 통신보드를 사용하였고 계전 알고리즘의 수행은 TMS320C32 기반의 DSP(Digital Signal Processor) 보드를 사용하였다. 보드간 통신은 CAN(Cont roller Area Network) 통신으로 이루어 졌으며 사례연구를 위해 RTDS(Real Time Digital Power System Simulator)를 이용하여 입력신호를 생성하였다. 구성된 시스템의 검증을 위해 거리계전기에서 후비보호 시 발생할 수 있는 문제점을 시뮬레이션 하였다.

  • Recently, the increasing application of electronic equipments and information devices has heightened the interest in power qualify. The term power quality is applied to a wide range of electromagnetic phenomena on the power system and is also concentrated by all areas such as utilities, their customers and suppliers of load equipments. In engineering terms, power Qualify is expressed by voltage qualify because the power supply system can only control the quality of the voltage. Therefore, the standards in power quality area are devoted to keep the supply voltage within allowable limits. This paper deals with single-phase unified power quality conditioner (UPQC), which ai s at the integration of series-active and shunt-active filter. The series filter il used to compensate for the voltage distortions and the shunt filter is used to provide reactive power and counteract the harmonic current injected by the load. Also, the voltage of the DC link capacitor is controlled to a desired value by the shunt active filter. The validity of the proposed UPQC is demonstrated using both the MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation and the experimental device with DSP (TMS320C32).

Design of a real-time image preprocessing system with linescan camera interface (라인스캔 카메라 인터페이스를 갖는 실시간 영상 전처리 시스템의 설계)

  • This paper represents the design of a real-time image preprocessing system. The preprocessing system performs hardware-wise mask operations and thresholding operations at the speed of camera output single rate. The preprocessing system consists of the preprocessing board and the main processing board. The preprocessing board includes preprocessing unit that includes a $5\times5$ mask processor and LUT, and can perform mask and threshold operations in real-time. To achieve high-resolution image input data($20485\timesn$), the preprocessing board has a linescan camera interface. The main processing board includes the image processor unit and main processor unit. The image processor unit is equipped with TI's TMS320C32 DSP and can perform image processing algorithms at high speed. The main processor unit controls the operation of total system. The proposed system is faster than the conventional CPU based system.

  • In this paper, we experimented by three kind of method for feature parameter, training method and recognition algorithm of most suitable for speech recognition system and considered. We decided speech recognition system of most suitable through two kind of experiment after we make speech recognizer. First, we did an experiment about three kind of feature parameter to evaluate recognition performance of it in speech recognizer using existent MFCC and MFCC new feature parameter that change characteristic space using PCA and ICA. Second, we experimented recognition performance or HMM, SVM and RVM by studying data number. By an experiment until now, feature parameter by ICA showed performance improvement of average 1.5% than MFCC by high linear discrimination from characteristic space. RVM showed performance improvement of maximum 3.25% than HMM in an experiment by decrease of studying data. As such result, effective method for speech recognition system to propose in this paper derives feature parameters using ICA and un recognition using RVM.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) have been expanding gradually their awlications in the variable speed drives due to their relatively low cost, simple and robust structure, controllability and high efficiency. In this paper neural network theory is used to detemrine fuzzy-neural network controller's membership ftmctions and fuzzy rules. In addition neural network emulator is used to emulate forward dynamics of SRM and to get error signal at fuzzy-neural controller output layer. Error signal is backpropagated through neural network emulator. The backpropagated error of emulator offers the path which reforms the fuzzy-neural network controller's mmbership ftmctions and fuzzy rules. 32bit Digital Signal Processor(TMS320C31) was used to achieve the high speed control and to realize the fuzzy-neural control algorithm. Simulation and experimental results show that in the case of load variation the proposed control rrethcd was superior to a conventional rrethod in the respect of speed response.sponse.

  • This paper deals with a control strategy for constant output power of SSRT(Soft Switching Resonant Type) FB(Full Bridge) DC-DC converter by an improved phase shift controller. When the FB DC-DC converter for the high density and the high effect control is operated in high speed switching, the switching loss and switching stress of the switching devices are increased. So, the soft switching method, which has the phase shift control with the digital I-PD controller, must be use in order to reduce its. And the output voltage that controlled by the digital I-PD controller tracks a reference without steady state error in variable input voltage. The validity of control strategy that proposed is verified from simulation results and experimental results by the DSP(TMS320C32).
