  • PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of the meridian muscle release technique on the pain and functional movement of patients with myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) of the shoulder joint. METHODS: The subjects of this study included 45 patients with MPS of the shoulder joint. The subjects were divided randomly into the following groups; the meridian muscle release technique group (n=15), the Graston technique group (n=15), and the control group (n=15). Both the meridian muscle release group and the Graston technique group received conventional therapy for 35 minutes initially and were then treated using the meridian muscle releases technique and Graston technique for 10 minutes, respectively. The control group received only conventional therapy for 35 minutes. All three groups underwent treatments three times a week for four weeks. Each subject was evaluated randomly using the VAS, PPT, SPADI and ROM both before and after treatment. RESULTS: The Graston technique group showed a significantly more substantial increase in functional movement (p<.05) than the meridian muscle release technique and control groups. The meridian muscle release technique group had significantly less pain (p<.05) compared to the Graston technique and control groups. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that the meridian muscle release technique can be useful for decreasing pain and increasing the functional movement of patients with MPS of the shoulder joint.

  • Patients who underwent hip arthroplasty using the conventional fat suppression technique (CHESS) and a new technique (IDEAL) were compared quantitatively to assess the effectiveness and usefulness of the IDEAL technique. In 20 patients who underwent hip arthroplasty from March 2009 to December 2010, fat suppression T2 and T1 weighted images were obtained on a 3.0T MR scanner using the CHESS and IDEAL techniques. The level of distortion in the area of interest, the level of the development of susceptibility artifacts, and homogeneous fat suppression were analyzed from the acquired images. Quantitative analysis revealed the IDEAL technique to produce a lower level of image distortion caused by the development of susceptibility artifacts due to metal on the acquired images compared to the CHESS technique. Qualitative analysis of the anterior area revealed the IDEAL technique to generate fewer susceptibility artifacts than the CHESS technique but with homogeneous fat suppression. In the middle area, the IDEAL technique generated fewer susceptibility artifacts than the CHESS technique but with homogeneous fat suppression. In the posterior area, the IDEAL technique generated fewer susceptibility artifacts than the CHESS technique. Fat suppression was not statistically different, and the two techniques achieved homogeneous fat suppression. In conclusion, the IDEAL technique generated fewer susceptibility artifacts caused by metals and less image distortion than the CHESS technique. In addition, homogeneous fat suppression was feasible. In conclusion, the IDEAL technique generates high quality images, and can provide good information for diagnosis.

  • Dewaxing Technique was reconized as the removal of waxy materials from the lubriating distillates for the purpose of the improvement of the low temperative fluidity of the lubricating oils. Recently this technique is developed not only the removal of the waxy materials but the reformation of the waxy materials which does not effect the low temperative fluidity of the lutricating oils. The cutalytic dewaxing technique is developed is this letter direction. And so I insist here the defintion of dewaxing technique must be defined as the technique of the removal and reforming technique of the waxy materials which effect the fluidity of the lubricating oils.

  • The purpose of this study was to obtain data necessary for guiding students in the future by grasping which rate of error is made how much depending on a shooting technique in the filming of periapical radiograph. 14,402 films, which were instructed targeting students for the Department of Dental Hygiene at D Health College and S Health College, were analyzed. The following results were obtained by conducting questionnaire survey targeting 263 students who completed the shooting practice lesson of bisecting angle technique and paralleling technique. 1. In case of having shot with bisecting angle technique, the ratio of error was the highest in both maxillary and mandibular first molar. 2. In case of having shot with paralleling technique, the ratio of error was the highest in the maxillary bicuspid and the mandibular first molar. 3. As for ratio of error in light of a shooting technique, both bisecting angle technique and paralleling technique were indicated to be the highest in inaccuracy of film position. The bisecting angle technique was indicated to have the higher ratio of error compared to the paralleling technique. 4. As for ratio of error in light of the processing technique, both bisecting angle technique and paralleling technique were indicated to be the highest in dark image and light image. The bisecting angle technique was indicated to have the higher ratio of error compared to the paralleling technique. 5. Students were indicated to feel it to be most difficult for grasping the processing level in the film-developing process. As the above results, to reduce ratio of error given the periapical radiography, a method of reducing ratio of error given the periapical radiography is considered to be what correctly understands the morphological and anatomical structure inside the mouth and what acquires the shooting technique by filming several times with having enough time.

  • A new experimental technique was developed on the plate-inserted welded tubular joints of spatial grid structures. In the experimental technique, a microcomputer controlling instrument of moire intervention (MCIMI) was adopted. A test was designed on the plate-inserted welded tubular joints of spatial grid structures to show the effectiveness of the MCIMI technique. Both traditional electrical measuring technique and MCIMI technique were employed in the test. The test results showed that the MCIMI technique was feasible in the case of the complicated tests on steel structures. The MCIMI technique not only implemented the limitation of traditional electrical measuring technique, but also improved the accuracy of the test. According to the test results, we further examined the plate-inserted welded tubular joints in the cable-stayed spatial grids of the Binhai International Convention & Exhibition in Tianjin, China. The analysis showed the joints are safely designed with adequate conservatism. The research provided a new application of MCIMI in the field of large-scale structure engineering.

  • In this paper, we present a hybrid multi-antenna technique that can minimize the outage probability by combining the diversity and beamforming techniques. The hybrid technique clusters the transmission antennas into multiple groups and exploit diversity among different groups and beamforming within each group. We analyze the performance of the resulting hybrid technique for an arbitrary correlation among the transmission antennas. Through the performance analysis, we derive a closed-form expression of the outage probability for the hybrid technique. This enables to optimize the antenna grouping for the given spatial correlation. We show through numerical results that the hybrid technique can balance the trade-offs between diversity and beamforming according to the spatial correlation and that the optimally designed hybrid technique yields a much lower outage probability than the diversity or beamforming technique does in partially correlated fading channels.

  • In this paper, we proposed a technique for hiding the double-encrypted confidential data in the image using the pixel value of the image and the spatial encryption technique. The proposed technique inserts encrypted confidential data into the LSB of an image pixel in order to maintain high image quality. The stego-image generated by hiding the encrypted confidential data has very good quality and is visually indistinguishable from the original cover image, so that it is impossible to recognize whether the confidential data is hidden in the stego-image. It is possible to extract the original confidential data from the stego-image without loss. By conducting an experiment on the proposed technique, it was confirmed that the proposed technique is an effective technique for the practical application of data hiding. The proposed technique can be used in applications such as military and intellectual property protection that require high security.
