We propose a multi-objective space search algorithm (MSSA) and introduce the identification of fuzzy inference systems based on the MSSA and information granulation (IG). The MSSA is a multi-objective optimization algorithm whose search method is associated with the analysis of the solution space. The multi-objective mechanism of MSSA is realized using a non-dominated sorting-based multi-objective strategy. In the identification of the fuzzy inference system, the MSSA is exploited to carry out parametric optimization of the fuzzy model and to achieve its structural optimization. The granulation of information is attained using the C-Means clustering algorithm. The overall optimization of fuzzy inference systems comes in the form of two identification mechanisms: structure identification (such as the number of input variables to be used, a specific subset of input variables, the number of membership functions, and the polynomial type) and parameter identification (viz. the apexes of membership function). The structure identification is developed by the MSSA and C-Means, whereas the parameter identification is realized via the MSSA and least squares method. The evaluation of the performance of the proposed model was conducted using three representative numerical examples such as gas furnace, NOx emission process data, and Mackey-Glass time series. The proposed model was also compared with the quality of some "conventional" fuzzy models encountered in the literature.

Core-shell polymers of methyl methacrylate-styrene system were prepared by sequential emulsion polymerization in the presence of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) as an emulsifier using ammonium persulfate(APS) in an initiator and the characteristics of these core-shell polymers were evaluated. Core-shell composite latex has the both properties of core and shell components in a particle, whereas polymer blends or copolymers show a combined physical properties of two homopolymers. This unique behavior of core-shell composite latex can be used in various industrial fields. However, in preparation of core-shell composite latex, several unexpected matters are observed, for examples, particle coagulation, low degree of polymerization, and formation of new particles during shell polymerization. To solve this matters, we study the effects of surfactant concentrations, initiator concentrations, and reaction temperature on the core-shell structure of PMMA-PSt and PSt-PMMA. Particle size and particles distribution were measured by using particle size analyzer, and the morphology of the core-shell composite latex was observed by using transmission electron microscope. Glass temperature was also measured by using differential scanning calorimeter. To identify the core-shell structure, pH of the composite latex solutions was measured.

The engineering ceramic needs the properties of high strength, hardness, corrosion-resistance and heat-resistance in order to withstand thermal shock or applied nonuniform stresses without failure. The densely coated porous ceramics can be used for machine component, electromagnetic component, bio-system component and energy-system component by their high-performances from superior coating properties and light-weight characteristics due to the structure including pore by itself. In this study we controlled the porosity of silica and alumina, $8.2\~25.4\%$ and $23.4\~36.0\%$, respectively, by the control of sintering temperature and starting powder size. We made bilayer structures, consisting of a transparent glass coating layer bonded to a thick substrate of different porous ceramics by a thin layer of epoxy adhesive, facilitated observations of crack initiation and propagation. The elastic modulus mismatch could be controlled using different porous ceramics as the substrate layer. Then we applied 150 N force using WC sphere with a radius of 3.18 mm by Hertzian indentation. As a result, the crack initiation in the coating layer was delayed at lower porosity in the substrate layer, and the damage in the coating layer was relatively smaller at the bilayer structure coated on higher elastic substrate.

Concentration fields of solid powder in a liquid fuel were quantitatively measured by a visualization technique. The measurement system consists of a camcoder and three LCD monitors. The solid powder (glass powder) were filled in a head tank which was installed over a main mixing tank ($D{\times}H$, $310{\times}370mm$). The main mixing tank was filled with JetA1 fuel oil. With a sudden opening of the upper tank by pressurized nitrogen gas with 1.9 bar, the solid powder were poured into the JetA1 oil. An impeller type agitator was being rotated in the mixing with 700 rpm for the enhancements of mixing. Uniform visualization for the mixing flow field was made by the light from the three LCD monitors, and the visualized images were captured by the camcoder. The color images captured by the camcoder The color information of the captured images was decoded into three principle colors R, G, and B to get quantitattive relations between the concentrations of the solid powder and the colors. To get better fitting for the strong non-linearity between the concentration and the color, a neural network which has strong fitting performances was used. Analyses on the transient mixing of the solid powders were quantitatively made.
In this study, a specific structural design procedure for 2 MW class glass/epoxy composite wind turbine system towers is newly proposed through load case study, trade-off study, optimal structural design and structural analysis. Optimal tower design is very important because its cost is about 20% of the wind turbine system's cost. In the structural design of the tower, three kinds of loads such as wind load, blades, nacelle and tower weight and blade aerodynamic drag load should be considered. Initial structural design is carried out using the netting rule and the rule of mixture. Then the structural safety and stability are confirmed using a commercial finite element code, MSC NASTRAN/PATRAN. The finally proposed tower configuration meets the tower design requirements.

An automated carbonyl measurement system was constructed. Atmospheric carbonyl compounds were extracted onto DNPH containing collection solution while flowing through a glass coil. Each carbonyl species was separated on a HPLC column and quantified by UV absorption detector. Using this system, carbonyl compounds were continuously measured at the campus of Korea University in Seoul, Korea during June, 2005. Sampling resolution was 30 minutes and the detection limit of HCHO was 0.19 ppbv. Also, $\O_{3}$, it's precursors, and meteorological parameters were measured. The maximum, minimum, average, and median concentrations of HCHO during the whole experiment was 35.8 ppbv, 1.4 ppbv, 11.7 ppbv, and 9.3 ppbv respectively. Formaldehyde showed a distinct diurnal variation with a broad maximum around 13 $\sim$ 15, which was 1 $\sim$ 3 hours ahead of an ozone maximum. During a couple of days, however, HCHO concentrations were kept high through the night or increased concomitantly with NOx in the morning. These results imply that HCHO was mainly produced from the photochemical oxidation of VOCs, but local emission sources couldn't be ruled out. The differences between daily maximum and minimum of $O_{3}$ and HCHO were calculated for 11 days of June, when typical diurnal variations were observed for the two species. A strong positive correlation was found between $\Delta O_{3}$ and $\Delta HCHO$ and the average mole ratio of $\Delta HCHO$ to $\Delta O_{3}$ was 2.6. It indicates that formaldehyde played a key role in $\Delta O_{3}$ production as an indicator species in Metropolitan Seoul during June, 2005.
The viscosities of strong electrolytic solutions, such as KCl, KI and NaI have been measured over a fairy wide range of concentration variation (from 0.00002 to 3.7M). It was hoped that a study of the data in the light of modern theories on solution might reveal new relation between viscosity and surface tension of electrolytic solution. To secure more accurate measurements of viscosity and surface tension of the solutions, Ostwald viscometer was made with pyrex glass and modified the timing system for the transit of the meniscus with a new electronics system and with a pulse counter. As the experimental data obtained were in good agreement with the Jone's values, Jones-Dole equations for the electrolytic solutions were deduced, ${\eta}KCl\;=\;1\;+\;0.0052{\sqrt{c}}\;-\;0.01612c\;+\;0.00808c^2\;at\;30^{\circ}C$${\eta}KI\;=\;1\;+\;0.0220{\sqrt{c}}\;-\;0.01290c\;+\;0.02988c^2\;at\;25^{\circ}C$${\eta}Na\; =\;1\;+\;0.0240{\sqrt{c}}\;-\;0.0640c\;+\;0.03268c^2\;at\;25^{\circ}C$Gruneisen effect appeared in the dilute solution, whereas anti-Gruneisen effect was found for the extremely dilute solution. No satisfactory interpretation for the variation of the viscosity with concentration can be found at the present.
As sustainable design technologies, advanced daylighting systems with lightshelves have been developed and are currently under monitoring the daylighting performance. This study aims to evaluate the comparative daylighting performance of sloped lightshelf and conventional glazing window with mock-up model, reconstructed as a prototype of Korean office building, sized $12.0m{\times}7.3m{\times}3.7m$ ($w{\times}d{\times}h$) and $1.8m{\times}4.8m$($w{\times}h$) for the south facing side-window was installed on the rooftop of engineering building, Kyung Hee University in Korea. It has an identical configuration of reference room and the test room. For the test room, the sloped type lightshelf system was designed as 10mm transparency sheet glass, tilt angle degree $29^{\circ}$, and total sized 1.28m (interior length 0.88m, exterior length 0.49m). It consisted of daylighting collector, entrance glazing and reflector. To assess daylighting performance, the totally 37 measuring points for illuminance and 2 view points of luminance were monitored in every 30 minutes from 12:00 to 15:00. For the detailed analysis, photometric sensors of each room were installed at work-plane (8 points), wall (7 points), ceiling (3points), and exterior horizontal illuminance (1 point). Luminance of window, rare of the room was measured under clear sky. It is to be monitored by Agilent data logger, photometric sensor Li-cor and the Radiant Imaging ProMetric 1400. Comparisons with a light factor, increase-decrease ratio, uniformity, and luminance are discussed.
A microstrip gas chamber (MSGC), applied to digital radiography system, was designed and constructed. The microstrip electrodes were fabricated with Chrome(Cr.). by photolithography process on Silicon(Si) wafer and glass substrate. The width of anode and cathode electrodes was $10{\mu}m$, and $290{\mu}m$, respectively. The distance of the electrodes was $100{\mu}m$, and the active area was $50{\times}50mm^2$. And the number of anode was 80. The microstrip electrodes were damaged when discharges occurred over the 600 V of anode voltage. As the result of experiments. It detected the typical output signals of the pulse width, 20 ns, under the condition that the detecting gas was Ar(90%) + $CH_4$(10%), X-ray tube voltage was 42 kV, and tube current was 1 mA.

Mirror is a physical reflective surface, typically of glass coated with a metal amalgam, and it is to reflect an image clearly. They are available everywhere anytime and become an essential tool for us to observe our faces and appearances. With the advent of modern software technology, we are motivated to enhance the reflection capability of mirrors with the convenience and intelligence of realtime processing, microservices, and machine learning. In this paper, we present a development of Digital Mirror System that provides the realtime reflection functionality as mirror while providing additional convenience and intelligence including personal information retrieval, public information retrieval, appearance age detection, and emotion detection. Moreover, it provides a multi-model user interface of touch-based, voice-based, and gesture-based. We present our design and discuss how it can be implemented with current technology to deliver the realtime mirror reflection while providing useful information and machine learning intelligence.
