PCS와 원칩 마이크로콘트롤러를 이용한 원격 검침 시스템 (Remote Measurement System with PCS and One Chip Microcontroller)

  • In stead of RF module which has been used conventionally in many remote measurement applications, a new type of remote measurement system based on PCS(Personal communication system) and one chip Microcontroller is proposed in this work. PCS has many advantages with respect to cost reliability, communication quality, and so on. The proposed system consists of three different modules: PCS module, micro-controller module, and sensor module. System configuration as well as illustrative experiments will be described in detail.

  • 본 논문에서는 5GHz 저잡음 증폭기(LNA)의 성능 측정을 위한 새로운 형태의 저가 BIST(Built-In Self-Test) 회로를 제안한다 이러한 BIST 회로는 system-on-chip (SoC) 송수신 환경에 적용될 수 있도록 설계되어 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 BIST 회로는 입력 임피던스, 전압이득, 잡음지수, 입력반사손실(input return loss) 및 출력 신호 대 잡음전력비(signal-to-noise ratio)와 같은 저잡음 증폭기의 주요 성능 지수를 측정 할 수 있으며, 단일 칩 위에 제작되어 있다.

Network-on-Chip에서의 최적 통신구조 설계 (Optimal Design of Network-on-Chip Communication Sturcture)

  • 매우 복잡한 시스템의 보다 효율적인 설계를 위한 차세대 SoC를 위해 중요한 것은 시스템의 고적용성과 고확장성이다. 이를 위해 최근 들어 급속히 관심이 높아지는 것이 계산 모듈중심의 시스템 설계를 탈피하여 통신 중심으로 시스템 설계를 보는 communication-based 설계 방법론이며, 그 중 대표적으로 많은 관심을 모으고 있는 것이 Network-on-Chip (NoC)이다. 이는 모듈간의 직접적인 연결에 의한 데이터의 통신 구조를 가진 일반적인 SoC 설계에서의 취약한 확장성과 통신 구조의 고정성을 극복하기 위해, 데이터를 패킷화하고, 이를 네트워크 인터페이스 및 라우터에 의한 가변적인 구조에 의해 전송함으로써 통신 구조의 적용성과 확장성을 제공하려는 노력이다. 하지만 확장성과 적용성에 치중하다 보면 성능과 면적에 대한 비용이 너무 커져서 실제로 기존의 연결 방법과 비교하여 실용성이 없을 수 있다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 통신 패턴의 면밀한 분석을 통하여 매우 성능에 중요하고 또 빈번한 통신 패턴에 대해서는 기존의 연결 방식을 고수하면서, 전체적인 연결성 및 확장성을 유지하는 알고리즘을 제시한다. 이 방법을 통해서 최소 30%의 네트워크 인터페이스 및 라우터 구조가 훨씬 간단한 구조로 바뀔 수 있었으며, 이로 인한 연결성 (connectivity) 및 확장성에 대한 손실은 거의 없었다. 시뮬레이션 결과에 의하면 통신 구조의 최적화를 통해서 연결에 소요되는 시간적 성능은 49.19% 향상되었고 면적의 측면에서도 24.03% 향상되었음이 입증되었다.

  • A chromogenic biosensor employing microfluidics on a chip has been developed for the determination of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (HDL-C) in human serum. We have investigated a plain and effective method to immobilize enzymes within the microchip without chemically modifying micro-channel or technically micro-fabricating column reactor and fluid channel network. In assessing risk factors of coronary heart disease, a micro-chip system would minimize requirements of instrument and reagent handling.

  • This paper describes the development of the sensor interface and driver program for a point of care (POC) device. The proposed pac device comprises an ARM9 embedded processor and eight-channel sensor input to measure various bio-signals. It features a user-friendly interface using a full-color TFT-LCD and touch-screen, and a bluetooth wireless communication module. The proposed device is based on the system on a programmable chip (SOPC). We use Altera's Excalibur device, which has an ARM9 and FPGA area on a chip, as a test bed for the development of interface hardware and driver software.

  • In this paper we describe designing and implementing a digital neural chip and a parallel neural machine for simulating large scale neural netsorks. The chip is a single-chip multiprocessor which has four digiral neural processors (DNP-II) of the same architecture. Each DNP-II has program memory and data memory, and the chip operates in MIMD (multi-instruction, multi-data) parallel processor. The DNP-II has the instruction set tailored to neural computation. Which can be sed to effectively simulate various neural network models including on-chip learning. The DNP-II facilitates four-way data-driven communication supporting the extensibility of parallel systems. The parallel neural machine consists of a host computer, processor boards, a buffer board and an interface board. Each processor board consists of 8*8 array of DNP-II(equivalently 2*2 neural chips). Each processor board acn be built including linear array, 2-D mesh and 2-D torus. This flexibility supports efficiency of mapping from neural network models into parallel strucgure. The neural system accomplishes the performance of maximum 40 GCPS(giga connection per second) with 16 processor boards.

Lung Organoid on a Chip: A New Ensemble Model for Preclinical Studies

  • The lung is a complex organ comprising a branched airway that connects the large airway and millions of terminal gas-exchange units. Traditional pulmonary biomedical research by using cell line model system have limitations such as lack of cellular heterogeneity, animal models also have limitations including ethical concern, race-to-race variations, and physiological differences found in vivo. Organoids and on-a-chip models offer viable solutions for these issues. Organoids are three-dimensional, self-organized construct composed of numerous cells derived from stem cells cultured with growth factors required for the maintenance of stem cells. On-a-chip models are biomimetic microsystems which are able to customize to use microfluidic systems to simulate blood flow in blood channels or vacuum to simulate human breathing. This review summarizes the key components and previous biomedical studies conducted on lung organoids and lung-on-a-chip models, and introduces potential future applications. Considering the importance and benefits of these model systems, we believe that the system will offer better platform to biomedical researchers on pulmonary diseases, such as emerging viral infection, progressive fibrotic pulmonary diseases, or primary or metastatic lung cancer.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a System-on-a-Chip (SoC) for image processing applications to use in wearable/mobile products. The target Soc consists of LEON 2 core, AMBA/APB bus-systems and custom-designed controllers. A new FPGA-based prototyping platform is implemented and used for design and verification of the target SoC. To ensure that the implemented SoC satisfies the required performances, an image processing application is performed.

  • 반도체 공정 기술의 발달은 기하 급수적인 집적도의 증가를 가져오고, 이는 한 칩에 시스템을 모두 집적시키는 시스템 온 칩(SoC : System on Chip) 설계가 가능해지고, 이에 따른 설계 방법의 변화를 요구하고 있다. Soc 설계는 시스템에서 설계 사양(Specification)의 정의가 중요한 요소가 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG 오디오 복호기에서 사용되는 IMDCT를 시스템 수준의 실행 가능한 설계 사양(Executable Specification)에 의해 설계하였다.

단백질 칩 기판의 표면 스크래칭 효과 (Effects of Scratching on the Surface of Protein Chip Plates)

  • [ $NiCl_2$ ] and poly-L-lysine coated protein chip plates have been fabricated using a spin coating system. Water has been used as solvent and scratching effects on glass slides and ITO have been investigated. We also observed the surface properties of $NiCl_2$ and poly-L-lysine coated slides by using PSA(Particle size analyzer) and AFM(Atomic force microscope). The AFM results imply that the surface patterns created in the spin coating system determine the protein adsorption. Adsorption of histidine-tagged KRS proteins immobilized on glass slides and ITO was analyzed using a BAS image system. The results suggest that the scratching effect was increased ability of protein adsorption.
