To understand physical phenomena of ship maneuvering deeply, a numerical study based on computational fluid dynamics is required. A computational method that can simulate the interaction between the ship hull, propeller, and rudder will provide informative local flows during ship maneuvering tests. The analysis of local flows can be applied to improve a physical model of ship maneuvering that has been widely used in maneuvering simulations. In this study, the numerical program named as WAVIS that has been developed for ship resistance and propulsion problems is extended to simulate ship maneuvering by free-running tests. The six degree-of-freedom of ship motion is implemented based on Euler angles and the overset technique is applied to treat the moving grid of ship hull and rudder. The propulsion force due to a propeller is calculated by a panel method that is based on the lifting-surface theory. The newly extended code is applied to simulate turning and zig-zag tests of KCS and the comparison with the available experimental data has been made.

An electro-mechanical actuator (EMA) is an actuator that combines an electric motor with a mechanical power transmission elements, and it is suitable for urban air mobility (UAM) in terms of design freedom and maintenance. In this paper, the author presents the research results of the EMA that controls the rotor blade pitch angle of UAM. The actuator is based on an inverted roller screw and controls the blade pitch angle through a two-bar linkage. The dynamic equations for the actuator alone and the blade pitching motion with actuator were derived. For the latter, the equivalent moment of inertia is variable depending on the link angle due to the two-bar linkage. The variations of the equivalent moments of inertia are analyzed and compared in terms of the nut motion and the blade pitch motion. For an example model, the variation of the equivalent moment of inertia of the former is smaller than the latter, so it is judged that the dynamic equations derived from the point of view of the nut motion is suitable for the controller design.

Moored floating platforms have great potential in ocean engineering applications because a mooring system is necessary to keep the platform in station, which is directly related to the operational efficiency and safety of the platform. This paper briefly introduces the technical and operational details of an optical sensor for measuring the tension of mooring lines of a moored platform in waves. In order to check the performance of optical sensors, an experiment with a moored floating platform in waves is carried out in the wave tank at Changwon National University. The experiment is performed in regular waves and irregular waves with a semi-submersible and triangle platform. The performance of the optical sensor is confirmed by comparing the results of the tension of the mooring lines by the optical sensor and tension gauges. The maximum tension of the mooring lines is estimated to investigate the mooring dynamics due to the effect of the wave direction and wavelength in the regular waves. The significant value of the tension of mooring lines in various wave directions is estimated in the case of irregular waves. The results show that the optical sensor is effective in measuring the tension of the mooring lines.
In this study, free vibration analysis of functionally graded (FG) porous truncated conical shell panels reinforced by graphene platelets (GPLs) has been investigated for the first time. Additionally, the effect of three different types of porosity distribution and five different types of GPLs patterns on dynamic response of the shell are also studied. Halpin-Tsai micromechanical model and Voigt's rule are used to determine Young modulus, shear modulus and Poisson's ratio with mass densities of the shell, respectively. The main novelties of present study are: applying 3D elasticity theory and the finite element method in conjunction with Rayleigh-Ritz method to give more accurate results unlike other simplified shell theories, and also presenting a general 3D solution in cylindrical coordinate system that can be used for analyses of different structures such as circular, annular and annular sector plates, cylindrical shells and panels, and conical shells and panels. A convergence study is performed to justify the correctness of the obtained solution and numerical results. The impact of porosity and GPLs patterns, the volume of voids, the weight fraction of graphene nanofillers, semi vertex and span angles of the cone, and various boundary conditions on natural frequencies of the functionally graded panel have been comprehensively studied and discussed. The results show that the most important parameter on dynamic response of FG porous truncated conical panel is the weight fraction of nanofiller and adding 1% weight fraction of nanofiller could increase 57% approximately the amounts of natural frequencies of the shell. Moreover, the porosity distribution has great effect on the value of natural frequency of structure rather than the porosity coefficient.

Utilization of a driving simulator in the development of autonomous driving technology allows us to perform various tests effectively in criticial environments, thereby reducing the development cost and efforts. However, there exists a serious drawback that the driving simulator has a big difference from the real environment, so a problem occurs when the autonomous driving algorithm developed using the driving simulator is applied directly to the real vehicle system. This is defined as so-called Sim2Real problem and can be classified into scenarios, sensor modeling, and vehicle dynamics. This Paper presensts on a method to solve the Sim2Real problem in autonomous driving simulator focusing on IMU sensor. In order to reduce the difference between emulated virtual IMU sensor real IMU sensor, IMU sensor emulation techniques through precision error modeling of IMU sensor are introduced. The error model of IMU sensors takes into account bias, scale factor, misalignmnet, and random walk by IMU sensor grades.

To implement an automatic picking system (APS) in distribution center with high precision and high dynamics, this paper presents a high gain observer-based robust speed controller design for a linear induction motor (LIM) drive. The force disturbance as well as the mechanical parameter variations such as the mass and friction coefficient gives a direct influence on the speed control performance of APS. To guarantee a robust control performance, the system uncertainty caused by the force disturbance and mechanical parameter variations is estimated through a high gain disturbance observer and compensated by a feedforward manner. While a time-varying disturbance due to the mass variation can not be effectively compensated by using the conventional disturbance observer, the proposed scheme shows a robust performance in the presence of such uncertainty. A Simulink library has been developed for the LIM model from the state equation. Through comparative simulations based on Matlab - Simulink, it is proved that the proposed scheme has a robust control nature and is most suitable for APS.

Mathematical modeling of focal plane compensation device in the small earth-observation satellite camera has been conducted experimently for compensation of micro-vibration disturbance. The PZT actuators are used as control actuators for compensation device. It is quite difficult to build up mathematical model because of hysteresis characteristic of PZT actuators. Therefore, the compensation device system is assumed as a $2^{nd}$ order linear system and modeled by using MATLAB System Identification Toolbox. It has been found that four linear models of compensation device are needed to meet 10% error in the input frequency range of 0~50Hz. These models describe accurately the dynamics of compensation device in the 4 divided domains of the input frequency range of 0~50Hz, respectively. Micro-vibration disturbance can be compensated by feedback control strategy of switching four models appropriately according to the input frequency.

Building Ukraine as an independent, sovereign state requires the education of a citizen-patriot, able to live and work in a democracy, ensure the unity of Ukraine, feel constant responsibility for themselves, their people, country, seek to make a real contribution to the reform process. Modern modernization of the education system requires the search for new information and communication technologies that can ensure the formation of a citizen with an active civic position, which involves not only students mastering the rights and responsibilities of citizens, convincing them of the feasibility of democratic transformation of society, patriotic qualities and feelings, but also the identification of motivated civic actions. The pandemic and hostilities have led to significant changes in the field of education around the world, they have caused educational problems in Ukraine. At the beginning of the quarantine in the spring of 2020, all educational institutions in the emergency mode switched to distance learning. Intensive use of information and communication technologies in the life of modern society has led to a rethinking of the content of education and training of future professionals: the main role is played not so much by the information itself as the ability to work with it, critically comprehend and produce new knowledge; the main thing is not the amount of information, but its quality; information is needed for further practical application and transformation into knowledge, and the ability to work with information becomes one of the important competencies of the modern specialist in the new transformation of society: from information to the knowledge society. In this context, one of the main forms of training is distance learning, which is able to respond to the challenges of society. The main methodological positions that are taken into account in the construction of the structure and dynamics of the formation of civic responsibility of the individual during the use of information and communication technologies are highlighted. The structure of civil responsibility as a holistic system of information and communication technologies is outlined, which includes three subsystems that characterize the natural, social and systemic qualities of citizenship, interconnected hierarchically and synergistically.The constituent elements of the structural part of the model of civic culture of the individual are analyzed.
The benefit that a consumer derives from the use of a good often depends on the number of other consumers purchasing the same goods or other compatible items. This property, which is known as network externality, is significant in many IT related industries. Over the past few decades, network externalities have been recognized in the context of physical networks such as the telephone and railroad industries. Today, as many products are provided as a form of system that consists of compatible components, the appreciation of network externality is becoming increasingly important. Network externalities have been extensively studied among economists who have been seeking to explain new phenomena resulting from rapid advancements in ICT (Information and Communication Technology). As a result of these efforts, a new body of theories for 'New Economy' has been proposed. The theoretical bottom-line argument of such theories is that technologies subject to network effects exhibit multiple equilibriums and will finally lock into a monopoly with one standard cornering the entire market. They emphasize that such "tippiness" is a typical characteristic in such networked markets, describing that multiple incompatible technologies rarely coexist and that the switch to a single, leading standard occurs suddenly. Moreover, it is argued that this standardization process is path dependent, and the ultimate outcome is unpredictable. With incomplete information about other actors' preferences, there can be excess inertia, as consumers only moderately favor the change, and hence are themselves insufficiently motivated to start the bandwagon rolling, but would get on it once it did start to roll. This startup problem can prevent the adoption of any standard at all, even if it is preferred by everyone. Conversely, excess momentum is another possible outcome, for example, if a sponsoring firm uses low prices during early periods of diffusion. The aim of this paper is to analyze the dynamics of the adoption process in markets exhibiting network effects by focusing on two factors; switching and agent heterogeneity. Switching is an important factor that should be considered in analyzing the adoption process. An agent's switching invokes switching by other adopters, which brings about a positive feedback process that can significantly complicate the adoption process. Agent heterogeneity also plays a important role in shaping the early development of the adoption process, which has a significant impact on the later development of the process. The effects of these two factors are analyzed by developing an agent-based simulation model. ABM is a computer-based simulation methodology that can offer many advantages over traditional analytical approaches. The model is designed such that agents have diverse preferences regarding technology and are allowed to switch their previous choice. The simulation results showed that the adoption processes in a market exhibiting networks effects are significantly affected by the distribution of agents and the occurrence of switching. In particular, it is found that both weak heterogeneity and strong network effects cause agents to start to switch early and this plays a role of expediting the emergence of 'lock-in.' When network effects are strong, agents are easily affected by changes in early market shares. This causes agents to switch earlier and in turn speeds up the market's tipping. The same effect is found in the case of highly homogeneous agents. When agents are highly homogeneous, the market starts to tip toward one technology rapidly, and its choice is not always consistent with the populations' initial inclination. Increased volatility and faster lock-in increase the possibility that the market will reach an unexpected outcome. The primary contribution of this study is the elucidation of the role of parameters characterizing the market in the development of the lock-in process, and identification of conditions where such unexpected outcomes happen.
In this study, we coupled a computation fluid dynamics (CFD) model to the local data assimilation and prediction system (LDAPS), a current operational numerical weather prediction model of the Korea Meteorological Administration. We investigated the characteristics of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) distributions in a building-congested district. To analyze the effects of road emission on the PM2.5 concentrations, we calculated road emissions based on the monthly, daily, and hourly emission factors and the total amount of PM2.5 emissions established from the Clean Air Policy Support System (CAPSS) of the Ministry of Environment. We validated the simulated PM2.5 concentrations against those measured at the PKNU-AQ Sensor stations. In the cases of no road emission, the LDAPS-CFD model underestimated the PM2.5 concentrations measured at the PKNU-AQ Sensor stations. The LDAPS-CFD model improved the PM2.5 concentration predictions by considering road emission. At 07 and 19 LST on 22 June 2020, the southerly wind was dominant at the target area. The PM2.5 distribution at 07 LST were similar to that at 19 LST. The simulated PM2.5 concentrations were significantly affected by the road emissions at the roadside but not significantly at the building roof. In the road-emission case, the PM2.5 concentration was high at the north (wind speeds were weak) and west roads (a long street canyon). The PM2.5 concentration was low in the east road where the building density was relatively low.
