  • Pumps are used widely in feed water, cooling & heating system and process line of industrial and construction fields. They consume nearly 20% of the each nation's total electrical energy. But The management of pump energy wasn't controlled well. Their loss of energy is huge if they have been operated at low efficiency. The first buying cost of pump is small compare to the power consumption of pump, so we can recommend the suitable replace time and best operating condition of parts and pump to measure the pump efficiency. Pump efficiency is usually measured according to the two methods which they are called thermodynamic method and traditional technique. And we measured the pump efficiency using two methods using potable pump efficiency measurement device and compared the results with the real performance curve offered from pump maker.

  • For a given plant design, improved decisions on when to shutdown an existing plant may be obtained by making better predictions of failure rates, by exerting efforts to collect more relevant information or by improving decision making models which put that information to best use. It is important that the models include the value of possible loss of lives and fear along with cleanup, decommissioning, relocation if the decisions derived from the model are to be useful. The decision model we have described enables us to investigate a class of optimal decisions on whether to shutdown or continue operating one period of time. The analysis and decision process is repeated at the end of each period with additional information about new costs and risks.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the efficiency with which phosphorylated spent coffee grounds (PSCG) remove cationic Cu(II) ions from an aqueous solution. The pHpzc of the SCG was 6.43, but it was lowered to 3.96 in the PSCG, confirming that an acidic functional group was attached to the surface of the PSCG. According to FT-IR analysis, phosphorylation of the SCG added P=O, P-O-C (aromatic), P=OOH, and P-O-P groups to the surface of the adsorbent, and the peaks of the carboxyl and OH groups were high and broad. Also, the specific surface area, mesopore range, and ion exchange capacity increased significantly by phosphorylation. The adsorption kinetics and isothermal experiments showed that Cu(II) adsorption using SCG and PSCG was explained by PSO and Langmuir models. The maximum Langmuir adsorption capacity of SCG and PSCG was 42.23 and 162.36 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption process of both SCG and PSCG was close to physical adsorption and endothermic reaction in which the adsorption efficiency increased with temperature. PSCG was very effective in adsorbing Cu(II) in aqueous solution, which has great advantages in terms of recycling resources and adsorbing heavy metals using waste materials.

  • Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) have become increasingly significant in intelligent transportation systems, they play a great role in improving traffic safety and efficiency. In the deployment of intelligent VANETs, intelligent vehicles can efficiently exchange important or urgent traffic information and make driving decisions. Meanwhile, secure data communication and vehicle's identity privacy have been highlighted. To cope with these security issues, in this paper, we construct an efficient anonymous authentication scheme with secure communication in intelligent VANETs. Combing the ElGamal encryption technique with a modified Schnorr signature technique, the proposed scheme provides secure anonymous authentication process for encrypted message in the vehicle-to-infrastructure communication model, and achieves identity privacy, forward security, and reply attack resistance simultaneously. Moreover, except the trusted authority (TA), any outside entity cannot trace the real identity of an intelligent vehicle. The proposed scheme is designed on an identity-based system, which can remove the costs of establishing public key infrastructure (PKI) and certificates management. Compared with existing authentication schemes, the proposed scheme is much more practical in intelligent VANETs.

  • Smart Factory is a part of and a key point of the 4th industrial revolution. It performs optimization from the whole viewpoint, using comprehensive data of the post-process data by utilizing various sensors, controllers, and mobile devices beyond the existing factory automation level. In this paper, we design and implement an IoT platform that can detect the safety factors of the workers, the environmental factors of the factory, and real time monitoring at the control center, among the fields to implement smart factory. To accomplish this, we construct a monitoring device that provides sensor information control, server transmission of sensor information, and visualization of collected information. By using this system, it is possible to maintain the temperature and humidity for the optimum working environment in the factory. and also, By using the beacon, it is possible to measure the working time of the worker and trace the position.

  • The Four Major Rivers Restoration Project started in 2009 and completed in early 2013 is a large-scale inter-ministry SOC project investing ₩22.2 $10^{12}$ and one of the Project's objectives was to enhance the water-quality grade through recovering the river eco-system and environment. The average concentration and probability distribution of water-quality constituents at given and selected sampling sites are very significant elements for analyzing and controlling the water-quality of rivers or reservoirs effectively. Average concentration can be estimated by point estimator, distribution function of water-quality constituents or Bootstrap method, in which the distribution function estimated with more data in case of insufficient dataset, is applied. Ipo and Gangcheon water-quality monitoring stations in South Han River were selected to compare and analyze the variation of concentration before and after Ipo and Gangcheon Weirs construction, using the whole 4-year's data, from 2005 to 2008 and from 2014 to 2017. Water-quality constituents such as BOD and COD relating to oxygen demanding wastes and TP and Chlorophyll-a relating to the process of nutrient enrichment called eutrophication were also selected. The guidelines for water-quality control and management after weir construction including evaluation of water-quality constituents' variations can be presented by this paper.

  • Snow accumulation on the road frequently induces a big traffic problem in the cold snowy region. Accurate prediction on snow distribution is fundamental for solving drifting snow disasters on roads. The present study adopts the transient method to simulate the wind-induced snow distribution on embankment based on the mixture multiphase model and dynamic mesh technique. The simulation and field measurement are compared to confirm the applicability of the simulation. Furthermore, the process of snow accumulation is revealed. The effects of friction velocity and snow concentration on snow accumulation are analyzed to clarify its mechanism. The results show that the simulation agrees well with the field measurement in trends. Moreover, the snow accumulation on the embankment can be approximately divided into three stages with time, the snow firstly deposited on the windward side, then, accumulation occurs on the leeward side which induced by the wake vortex, finally, the snow distribution reaches an equilibrium state with the slope of approximately 7°. The friction velocity and duration have a significant influence on the snow accumulation, and the vortex scale directly affected the snow deposition range on the embankment leeward side.

  • This paper reviews studies on the types and functions of oil sensors used for machine condition monitoring. Machine condition monitoring is essential for maintaining the reliability of machines and can help avoid catastrophic failures while ensuring the safety and longevity of operation. Machine condition monitoring involves several components, such as compliance monitoring, structural monitoring, thermography, non-destructive testing, and noise and vibration monitoring. Real-time monitoring with oil analysis is also utilized in various industries, such as manufacturing, aerospace, and power plants. The three main methods of oil analysis are off-line, in-line, and on-line techniques. The on-line method is the most popular among these three because it reduces human error during oil sampling, prevents incipient machine failure, reduces the total maintenance cost, and does not need complicated setup or skilled analysts. This method has two advantages over the other two monitoring methods. First, fault conditions can be noticed at the early stages via detection of wear particles using wear particle sensors; therefore, it provides early warning in the failure process. Second, it is convenient and effective for diagnosing data regardless of the measurement time. Real-time condition monitoring with oil analysis uses various oil sensors to diagnose the machine and oil statuses; further, integrated oil sensors can be used to measure several properties simultaneously.

  • Traditionally nuclear thermal hydraulic and nuclear safety has relied on numerical simulations to predict the system response of a nuclear power plant either under normal operation or accident condition. However, this approach may sometimes be rather time consuming particularly for design and optimization problems. To expedite the decision-making process data-driven models can be used to deduce the statistical relationships between inputs and outputs rather than solving physics-based models. Compared to the traditional approach, data driven models can provide a fast and cost-effective framework to predict the behavior of highly complex and non-linear systems where otherwise great computational efforts would be required. The objective of this work is to develop an AI algorithm to predict the peak fuel cladding temperature as a metric for the successful implementation of FLEX strategies under extended station black out. To achieve this, the model requires to be conditioned using pre-existing database created using the thermal-hydraulic analysis code, MARS-KS. In the development stage, the model hyper-parameters are tuned and optimized using the talos tool.

  • This study focuses on the necessity of MOT methods in companies, especially the utilization level. Based on the analysis structure of the previous study (2012), this study was conducted to compare the results with the previous results. We investigated the settlement level of MOT, the degree of necessity for MOT methods, the degree of actual use, and the Product Realization Process (PRP) for MOT-related researchers in electronic companies (n=184). It was confirmed that the higher the demand for MOT methods in the corporate field, the higher the utilization level (ratio). In particular, the need for and utilization of techniques such as Environmental Analysis, Business Opportunity Analysis, Project Feasibility Review, Roadmap, Risk Management was high. These methods were beneficial along with cost management and quality management techniques. The most challenging part of using MOT methods was the lack of systematic use, the absence of experts, and the difficulty in selecting suitable techniques. The necessity of opening subjects such as Creative Thinking, Communication, Teamwork, and Professional Ethics was high among the PRP subjects. Furthermore, the necessity of opening courses in Cost and Safety Design and Applied Statistics was higher than in the previous study.
