The Design of Service Quality Information Systems for Telephone Communication (전화통신 서비스품질정보시스템 설계에 관한 연구)

  • The information system for measuring and analyzing service quality of telephone network is designed on the service quality scheme recommended by ITU(International Telecommunication Union) in this study. The information system is composed of the equipments which measure service quality and the systems which analyze the measured data. The schedule algorithm for effectively operating measurement equipments which are located over public switched telephone network is proposed. The functions of the Information system are Introduced. The information system improves the service quality effectively.

  • In this paper, the trend of quality management system that suppliers in the automotive industry are adopting, the classification system of suppliers and car manufacturers requirements for quality are described. Due to the complexity of the requirements for quality, the introduction of an active quality management system which can meet all conditions is a difficult task. Thus, to cope with this difficulty, this paper shows the optimal requirements that suppliers have to consider when they are introducing quality management system and the discriminated strategies to assure parts quality by supplier model.

  • Maintaining a good quality of drinking water produced through appropriate water treatment processes to the tap is as important as improving water quality in a water treatment plant (WTP). The quality of most tap water, however, does not have the same quality as that of the water produced in a WTP due to the contamination in the distribution system while they are delivered through pipes and water tanks. It is very important to maintain water quality in distribution system to water suppliers for consumer's health and safety. Furthermore, it is not possible to investigate the water quality of all points in the distribution system because the system has a wide area and very complex hydraulic characteristics. One economic solution to prevent water quality in distribution system from being deteriorated is monitoring several points that might have the least water quality in the distribution system. If the quality of water of the monitoring points selected by proper ways is better than the quality index of Drinking Water Quality Guidelines suggested by Korean Ministry of Environment, all other points in the distribution system would be safe to drink.

  • In resolving industrial quality control problems, a vector of multiple quality characteristic variables is involved rather than a single variable. However, it is not guaranteed that a multivariate control chart based on statistical methods can monitor abnormal signal in case that small changes of relationship between each variables causes abnormal production process. Hence a quality control system for real-time monitoring of the multi-dimensional quality characteristic vector under a multivariate normal process is needed to enhance tile production system quality performance. A pattern analysis approach based on self-organizing map (SOM), an unsupervised learning technique of neural network, is applied to the design of such a quality control system. In this study we present a new material quality control system based on pattern analysis approach and illustrate the effectiveness of proposed system using actual electronic company material data.

  • Recently, as the quality is being recognized as elementary and strategic means to improve the international competetiveness of a business, there may be few business who do not operate quality control meeting or system for their production lines. In other words, local businesses operate some types of quality control system half voluntarily and half compulsorily without having verifying their efficiency. Under such a circumstance, this study is aimed at determining the factors which local businesses are required to assess for their quality system. It is believed that the results of this study can be used as a tool for local businesses to assess their quality system. The effective identification of problems regarding the quality system depends on how precisely the activities of quality system can be performed. Upon correct identification of problems, desirable directions can be explored. All in all, the model developed through this study may be useful as quality system assessment tool.

The Effect of Weather Information System'Quality Factor on User Satisfaction and Business Performance (기상정보시스템 품질요인이 이용자 만족과 사업성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to suggest a key quality factor affecting user satisfaction based on quality attribute of weather information system and additionally, a managerial implication for activating weather information service market by analyzing causal relevance between weather information system and business performance. Methods: As its method, a causal relevance of quality factor of weather information system affecting satisfaction and business performance was analyzed by using structural equation model. An enterprise utilized in analysis sample performed a survey by targeting 186 distribution/logistics and general manufacturing company. Results: It was revealed that information, service quality of weather information system exerted a significant influence on user satisfaction and it did not take a significant influence on business performance in terms of quality of information, system and service. A significant relevance between user satisfaction and business performance was strong supported. Finally, it was revealed that utilization level of weather information system had a moderating effect on business performance. Conclusion: Domestic weather information system mainly focused on information utilization based weather information system and additional service level utilizing weather information is very low in practical terms. Therefore, in order to expand domestic weather related service market, systematic market expansion strategy of providing corporate customized service and case enlargement would be required.

Developing a New Risk Assessment Methodology for Distribution System Operators Regulated by Quality Regulation Considering Reclosing Time

  • In the restructured electricity market, Performance-Based Regulation (PBR) regime has been introduced to the distribution network. To ensure the network stability, this regime is used along with quality regulations. Quality regulation impose new financial risks on distribution system operators (DSOs). The poor quality of the network will result in reduced revenues for DSOs. The mentioned financial risks depend on the quality indices of the system. Based on annual variation of these indices, the cost of quality regulation will also vary. In this paper with regard to reclosing fault in distribution network, we develop a risk-based method to assess the financial risks caused by quality regulation for DSOs. Furthermore, in order to take the stochastic behavior of the distribution network and quality indices variations into account, time-sequential Monte Carlo simulation method is used. Using the proposed risk method, the effect of taking reclosing time into account will be examined on system quality indicators and the cost of quality regulation in Swedish rural reliability test system (SRRTS). The results show that taking reclosing fault into consideration, affects the system quality indicators, particularly annual average interruption frequency index of the system (SAIFI). Moreover taking reclosing fault into consideration also affects the quality regulations cost. Therefore, considering reclosing time provides a more realistic viewpoint about the financial risks arising from quality regulation for DSOs.

Development of Quality Document Management System Using Hypertext (하이퍼텍스트를 이용한 품질문서 관리시스템 구축 사례)

  • In this paper, we present a useful system to manage the quality documents, using the concept of hypertext in HANGUEL wordprocessor, In order to develop this system, we classify all manuals, procedures and forms into files. A relationship chart of these files is constructed and files are hyperlinked according to this chart. We apply this quality document management system using hyper- text to a small precision manufacturing firm by analyzing its all kinds of quality documents. We confirm that this system effectively reduces the handling time of quality documents and supports revising task of quality documents with consistency.

Analysis of Healthcare Quality Indicators using Data Mining and Development of a Decision Support System (데이터마이닝을 이용한 의료의 질 측정지표 분석 및 의사결정지원시스템 개발)

  • Background : This study presented an analysis of healthcare quality indicators using data mining and a development of decision support system for quality improvement. Method : Specifically, important factors influencing the key quality indicators were identified using a decision tree method for data mining based on 8,405 patients who discharged from a medical center during the period between December 1, 2000 and January 31, 2001. In addition, a decision support system was developed to analyze and monitor trends of these quality indicators using a Visual Basic 6.0. Guidelines and tutorial for quality improvement activities were also included in the system. Result : Among 12 selected quality indicators, decision tree analysis was performed for 3 indicators ; unscheduled readmission due to the same or related condition, unscheduled return to intensive care unit, and inpatient mortality which have a volume bigger than 100 cases during the period. The optimum range of target group in healthcare quality indicators were identified from the gain chart. Important influencing factors for these 3 indicators were: diagnosis, attribute of the disease, and age of the patient in unscheduled returns to ICU group ; and length of stay, diagnosis, and belonging department in inpatient mortality group. Conclusion : We developed a decision support system through analysis of healthcare quality indicators and data mining technique which can be effectively implemented for utilization review and quality management in a healthcare organization. In the future, further number of quality indicators should be developed to effectively support a hospital-wide Continuous Quality Improvement activity. Through these endevours, a decision support system can be developed and the newly developed decision support system should be well integrated with the hospital Order Communication System to support concurrent review, utilization review, quality and risk management.

  • As having analyzed an advance research that had looked into how characteristics of information system affect use and success of the concerned system, the study determined that system quality, information quality and service quality are the fundamental requirements for a good accounting information system. In addition, based on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use that have been selected as major variables related to information system acceptance proposed by Davis[10], the study conducted an empirical analysis on how such factors would influence performance of the accounting information system. According to the results from the analysis, the system quality one of the characteristics of the accounting information system was observed to have a significant influence on the perceived ease of use while both the information quality and the service quality would positively affect the perceived usefulness. Not only that, the perceived ease of use and the perceived usefulness were confirmed to be a significant factor to the performance, and with those results, all the theses of the study have been selected. As proved even with the information system success model, the system quality, the information quality and the service quality are definitely the most necessary elements for business management, and it also turned out that those elements would play an important role in several stages of the information system.
