DC-DC integrated LED Driver IC design with power control function (전력 제어 기능을 가진 DC-DC 내장형 LED Driver IC 설계)

  • Recently, as LED display systems have become larger, research on effective power control methods for the systems has been in progress. This paper proposes a power control method to minimize power loss due to the difference in LED characteristics for each channel of a backlight unit (BLU) system. The proposed LED driver IC has a power optimization function and detects the minimum headroom voltage for constant current operation of all channels and linearly controls the DC-DC converter output. Thus, it minimizes power consumption due to unnecessary additional voltage. In addition, it does not require a voltage sensing comparator or a voltage generation circuit for each channel. This has a great advantage in reducing the chip size and for stabilization when implementing an integrated circuit. In order to verify the proposed function, an IC was designed using Cadence and Synopsys' design tools, and it was fabricated with a Magnachip 0.35um 5V/40V CMOS process. The experiments confirmed that the proposed power control method controls the minimum required voltage of the BLU system.

A Signaling Processor IC for Land Mobile Radio System (육상 이동 라디오 시스템용 호처리기 IC)

  • This paper describes a signaling processor IC for land mobile radio systems. This IC generates CTSS tone or DCS code signals for signaling between the land mobile radio systems and decodes them to open the audio path. The CTSS tone or DCS code signals occupy the subaudio band and are transmitted with voice signal. The audio and subaudio paths consist of switched capacitor filters. The IC has been implemented in 0.6-$\mu\textrm{m}$ 2-poly 3-metal CMOS process. The chip size is 3 mm$\times$4.3 mm and total current is about 3.4 ㎃ at 3.3 V.

  • In recent, as a typical example of RFID, the contactless IC card is widely used in traffic, access control system and so forth. And its use becomes a general tendency more and more because of the development of RF technology and improvement of requirement for user convenience. This paper describes the hardware module to process embedded contactless protocol for implementation contactless IC card. And the hardware module consists of analog circuits and specific digital logic circuits. This paper also describes more effective design method of contactless IC card, which method separates into analog circuit parts, digital logic circuit part, and software parts according to the role of the design parts.

  • Tests of notched specimens of ten hardwood species in the LR and LT systems were conducted to investigate fracture toughness($K_{IC}$) and effective moduli of elasticity(MOE). $K_{IC}$ values were examined in relation to MOR, MOE, specific gravity of clear wood specimens. It was found in both systems that there were significant relationship between $K_{IC}$ and MOR, $K_{IC}$ and specific gravity. To predict the effective MOE of notched specimen from MOE of clear wood, it was analyzed by using equvalent cross-section method. In LR system, the observed values were similar to the predicted values, but in LT system, both were not agreed as the ovserved values were smaller. However. the results were shown that this method was avaliable to predict the effective MOE of notched specimens.

  • 본 논문에서는 $20\%$ Ge 조성 비율을 갖는 SiGe 200nm 에 $1\%$-Nitrogen doping 된 Nickel 을 이용하여 새로운 Nickel Germanosilicide 방법을 제안하여 Ni-Germanosilicide 의 단점인 열 안정성 개선에 대해 연구하였다. Nitrogen atom 이 grain boundary 에 존재하여 Nickel의 diffusion을 억제시키는 역할을 하여 shallow한 실리사이드와 uniform 한 실리사이드 계면 특성을 얻게 되었다. 그리고 실리사이드 형성 후, 고온로 열처리 $600^{\circ}C$, 30min 후에도 낮고 안정한 면 저항 특성으로 열안정성 개선 할 수 있다.

  • The future warfare is changing to the NCW(Network Centric Warfare) from the platform-based warfare. Korea navy has been developing the KNCCS (Korea Naval Command and Control System) and the KNTDS (Korea Naval Tactical Data System) to prepare the NCW. Also, Korea navy has been using the ICS (Integraed Communication System) to transfer the command, control and tactical information on the naval ship. There is a lack of a systematic research and a reference material, although the ICS is a very important network on the naval ship. This paper is described the naval ICS. Also, a direction of the next Korea naval ICS is proposed.

  • We, for the first time, present novel test patterns and conclusive on-chip data indicating that the variation of coupling capacitance, ${\Delta}C_C$ by crosstalk can be larger than static coupling capacitance, $C_C$. The test chip is fabricated using a generic 150 nm CMOS technology with 7 level metallization. It is also shown that ${\Delta}C_C$ is strongly dependent on the phase of aggressive lines. For antiphase crosstalk ${\Delta}C_C$ is always larger than $C_C$ while for in-phase crosstalk $D_{\Delta}C_C$is smaller than $C_C$.

  • Presently, Weekend Buses only lane system is in force in Gyung-Bu Highway causes traffic delay at the northern of Su-won IC and have reduced the efficiency of Highway. To solve this problems, Buses only lane system is working at the northern of Su-won IC should be charged over from Median Buses only lane system to Curb Buses only lane system. It makes good effects on reducing weaving occurs when cars change lane, traffic accidents, ease control on violation cars, improving Level of Service in the Ramp, etc.

Implementation of four-subject four-channel optical telemetry system with enforced synchronization (강제 동기식 4생체 4채널 광펠레미트리시스템 구현)

  • This paper presents the physiological signal processing CMOS one chip for transmitting human bodys small electrical signals such as electrocardiogram(EKG) or electromyogram(EMG) and the external system for receiving signals was implemented by the commercial ICs. For simultaneous four-subject four-channel telemetry, a new enfored synchronization techniqeu using infrared bi-directional communication has been proposed. The telemeter IC with the size of 5.1*5.1mm$^{2}$ has the following functions: receiving of command signal, initialization of internal state of all functional blocks, decoding of subject-selection signal, time multiplexing of 4-channel modulated physiological signals, transmitting of telemetry signal to external system and auto power down control. The newly designed synchronized oscillator with low supply voltage dependence in the telemeter IC operates at a supply voltage from 4.6~6.0V and the nonlinearity error of PIM modulator was less than 1.2%F.S(full scale). The power saving block operates at the period of 2.5ms even if the telemetry IC does not receive command signal from external system for a constant time.

Realization of a High Precision Inspection System for the SOP Types of ICs (SOP형 IC의 고 정밀 외관검사 시스템 구현)

  • Owing to small sizes and high density to the semiconductor It, it is difficult to discriminate the defects of ICs by human eyes. High precision inspection system with computer vision is essentially established for the manufacturing process due to the variety of defective parts. Especially it is difficult to implement the algorithm for the coplanarity of IC leads. Therefore in this paper, the inspection system which can detect the defects of the SOP types of ICs having 1cm${\times}$0.5cm of the chip size is implemented and evaluated it's performance. In order to optimally detect various items, some principles of geometry are theoretically presented , length measurement, pitch measurement, angle measurement, brightness of image and correcton of position. The interface circuit is designed for implementation of inspection system and connected the HANDLER. In the result, the system could detect two ICs' defects per second and confirmed the resolution of 20$\mu$m per pixel.
