  • Federated Learning is divided into synchronous federated learning and asynchronous federated learning. Asynchronous federated learning has a time advantage over synchronous federated learning, but asynchronous federated learning still has some challenges to obtain better performance. In particular, preventing performance degradation in non-IID training datasets, selecting appropriate clients, and managing stale gradient information are important for improving model performance. In this paper, we deal with K-asynchronous federated learning by using non-IID datasets. In addition, unlike traditional method using static K, we proposed an algorithm that adaptively adjusts K and we can reduce the learning time. Additionally, the we show that model performance is improved by using stale gradient handling method. Finally, we use a method of judging model performance to obtain strong model stability. Experiment results show that overall algorithm can obtain advantages of reducing training time, improving model accuracy, and improving model stability.

  • In this paper, the IC(Integrated Circuit) for multi-channel synchronous communication was designed by using FPGA and VHDL language. The existing chips for synchronous communication that has been used commercially are composed for one to two channels. Therefore, when communication system with three channels or more is made, the cost becomes high and it becomes complicated for communication system to be realized and also has very little buffer, load that is placed into Microprocessor increases heavily in case of high speed communication or transmission of high-capacity data. The designed IC was improved the function and performance of communication system and reduced costs by designing 8 synchronous communication channels with only one IC, and it has the size of transmitter/receiver buffer with 1024 bytes respectively and consequently high speed communication became possible. It was designed with a communication signal of a form various encoding. To detect errors of communications, the CRC-ITU-T logic and channel MUX logic was designed with hardware logics so that the malfunction can be prevented and errors can be detected more easily and input/output port regarding each communication channel can be used flexibly and consequently the reliability of system was improved. In order to show the performance of designed IC, the test was conducted successfully in Quartus simulation and experiment and the excellence was compared with the 85C3016VSC of ZILOG company that are used widely as chips for synchronous communication.

  • The delay-insensitive Null Convention Logic (NCL) asynchronous design as one of innovative asynchronous logic design methodologies has many advantages of inherent robustness, power consumption, and easy design reuses. However, transistor-level structures of conventional NCL gate cells have weakness of high area overhead and high power consumption. This paper proposes a new NCL gate based on power gating structure. The proposed $4{\times}4$ NCL multiplier based on power gating structure is compared to the conventional NCL $4{\times}4$ multiplier and MTNCL(Multi-Threshold NCL) $4{\times}4$ multiplier in terms of speed, power consumption, energy and size using PTM 45 nm technology.

  • A linear motor has a lot of advantages in comparison with conventional feed mechanisms: high transitional speed, acceleration, high control performance and good positioning at high speed. Through the omission of a power transfer element, the linear motor shows no wear and no backlash, has along lifetime and is easy to assemble. Recently, the two types of linear motors, asynchronous and synchronous linear motors, are often applied to machine tools as a fast feed mechanism. In this paper, a comparison between the two types of linear motors as to power loss and thermal behavior is made. The heat sources of the linear motor-the electrical power loss in the motor and the frictional heat on the linear guidance-are measured and compared. Also, the temperature on the linear motor and machine structure is measured and presented.

  • Ethernet is being deployed in metropolitan area networks (MANs) as a lower-cost alternative to SONET-based infrastructures. MANs are usually required to support common communication services, such as voice and frame relay, based on legacy synchronous TDM technology in addition to asynchronous packet data transport. This paper addresses the clock synchronization problem that arises when transporting synchronous services over an asynchronous packet infrastructure, such as Ethernet. A novel algorithm for clock synchronization is presented combining time-stamp methods used in the network time protocol (NTP) with signal processing techniques applied to measured packet interarrival times. The algorithm achieves the frequency accuracy, stability, low drift, holdover performance, and rapid convergence required for viable emulation of TDM circuit services over Ethernet.

  • Asynchronous sequential machines, or clockless logic circuits, have several advantages over synchronous machines such as fast operation speed, low power consumption, etc. In this paper, we propose a novel robust controller for input/output asynchronous sequential machines with uncertain state transitions. Due to model uncertainties or inner failures, the state transition function of the considered asynchronous machine is not completely known. In this study, we present a formulation to model this kind of asynchronous machines ana using generalized reachability matrices, we address the condition for the existence of an appropriate controller such that the closed-loop behavior matches that of a prescribed model. Based on the previous research results, we sketch design procedure of the proposed controller and analyze the stable-state operation of the closed-loop system.

  • Recently, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) require energy performance and guaranteed delivery delay time, contrarily with previous MAC protocols that aim to high throughput mostly. In order to satisfy the new significant requirements, many MAC protocols of WSN employ and try to enhance the duty cycle mechanism which is energy efficient technique in MAC layer. This duty cycle mechanism is oriented by toggling the transceiver conditions composed of wakeup and sleep states. The synchronous MAC protocols perform the period synchronization process. Hence, these are energy efficient in periodic monitoring environment, but are inefficient in where an event is incurred rarely and infrequently. Otherwise, the performance of asynchronous MAC protocols are contrarily with synchronous protocols. In this paper, we design two models consisting Always-busy and Always-idle ti simplify the general network congestion conditions. Through these models, moreover, we analyze two types MAC protocols in terms of energy efficiency and delay performance by analytical results. Additionally, we also evaluate two MAC protocols with two gongestion models that we designed. By the analytical and simulated results, we provide the general and efficient decision method in which protocols are more appropriate in a certain WSN environment.

  • Arduino is used in various places such as education, experimentation, and industry. Due to the easy accessibility of Arduino, it is often used by non-majors, and it is also used in media art and toy programs. Although Arduino is relatively easy to use compared to other devices, it is not easy to control various IoT components at the same time. Some tasks run independently of other tasks, while others run dependently. In this paper, I proposed the Arduino Task Framework to efficiently execute many tasks in these various situations. The design framework of this paper is largely composed of two types: synchronous execution and asynchronous execution. These two execution methods can be combined to create several independent and dependent execution routines. Asynchronous tasks are independently executed tasks and are managed by AsyncTaskGroup, while synchronous tasks are dependently executed tasks and are managed by SyncTaskGroup. AsyncTaskGroup instance and SyncTaskGroup instance are instances of the same Task and can be used in combination with another task. The Arduino framework proposed in this paper simplifies the program structure and can easily compose various tasks.
