『황제내경(黃帝內經) · 소문(素問)』에 수록된 오장원혈침법(五臟原穴鍼法)의 적응증 선별 연구 (Study on the Selecting Indications of Five Viscera Source Point Acupunture in Suwen(素問))

  • Objective : This study was conducted to sort the five viscera symptoms which can be applied to Five Viscera Source Point Acupuncture, based on Suwen(素問). Method : 1. We selected and analyzed the sentences from Suwen, which included the five viscera symptoms. And then we sorted the five viscera symptoms which can be applied to Five Viscera Source Point Acupuncture. 2. These words - 'Liver', 'Heart', 'Spleen', 'Lung', 'Kidney', 'Reverting yin(厥陰)', 'Lesser yin(少陰)', 'Greater yin(太陰)', 'First Yin', 'Second Yin', 'Third Yin', 'Pericardium' and 'Extreme yin' - were used as search terms. Result & Conclusion : Forty-three symptoms of liver which can be applied to Five Viscera Source Point Acupuncture were extracted, twenty-one symptoms of heart, twenty-five symptoms of spleen, twenty-eight symptoms of lung, and forty symptoms of kidney.

『의방고(醫方考)』중 한의학 원전의 인용 (Citation of Traditional Chinese Medical Classics in 『Yifangkao』)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this paper is to describe how Wu Kun(吳昆) understood Huangdineijing 『黃帝內經』 and implemented his understanding when writting Yifangkao 『醫方考』. Methods : From Yifangkao 『醫方考』, we collected all paragraphs including "經曰", "內經曰" while excluding the ones with "論曰" to filter out Sanghanlun 『傷寒論』's perspective. The contents of Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內經·素問』 and Huangdineijing·Lingshu 『黃帝內經·靈樞』, cited in Wu Kun's Yifangkao 『醫方考』 were extracted, identified from which part it comes and sorted into headings under RyuPyeon Huangjenaegyung 『類編黃帝內經』. Results : The most cited traditional chinese medical classic in Yifangkao 『醫方考』 was Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內經·素問』 Yinyangyingxiangdalun 「陰陽應象大論篇」 which was cited 41 times. Zhizhenyaodalun 「至眞要大論篇」 had a total of 39 citations followed by Shengqitongtianlun 「生氣通天論篇」 and Liuyuanzhengjidalun 「六元正紀大論篇」 which were cited 13 times and 11 times each. In addition, it was confirmed that other 28 chapters from Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內經· 素問』, 3 chapters from Huangdineijing·Lingshu 『黃帝內經·靈樞』, 3 chapters from Nanjing 『難經』 and one chapter from Zhenjiujiayijing 『鍼灸甲乙經』 were also cited. Also the analysis of the classification of the Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內 經·素問』 showed that 57 citations were classified as 'treatment', 41 citations were classified as 'Yin and Yang and Five phases', 39 citations were calssified as 'Cause and Mechanism of Disease'. Conclusion : 1. Yifangkao 『醫方考』 have explained prescriptions by implementing principles from 5 kinds of traditional chinese medical classic including Huangdineijing·Suwen 『黃帝內經·素問』, Huangdineijing·Lingshu 『黃帝內經·靈樞』 etc. 2. According to table 3, Yifangkao 『醫方考』 have cited Huangdineijing·Suwen 『』 to explain how each compounds were used and how the Korean medical principle of Yin and Yang was applied in the prescriptions. 3. It can be suggested in formula study there is utility to understand principles of traditional chinese medical classic to comprehend prescriptions.

"소문(素問)" 왕빙주(王氷註) 중(中) "침경(鍼經)" 인용(引用)에 관한 고찰(考察) (A Review on quotations of "Zhenjing" in "Suwen" annotated by Wangbing)

  • Objective : In "Suwen" annotated by Wangbing at Tang dynasty of China, there are many books that he quoted. "Zhenjing" is one of them. "Zhenjing" has been known as another name of "Lingshu". However, in Wangbing's annotations, "Zhenjing" and "Lingshu" are shown as quotation books. Method : "Zhenjing" and "Lingshu" are compared. Result : 2 quotations of "Zhenjing" out of 32 quotations are from "Suwen" instead of "Lingshu", 3 quotations are not related with "Lingshu", 3 quotations are similar with "Lingshu" and rest of them could be from "Lingshu". Conclusion : It is supposed that several types of "Lingshu" could be existed when Wangbing wrote annotated "Suwen".

  • Objective : Wangbing annotated "Suwen" through the method of book-quotation. "Lingshu" is the one in quotation. It is objective that "Lingshu" quotated by Wangbing and existing "Lingshu" are identical. Method : "Lingshu" quotated by Wangbing and existing "Lingshu" are compared. Result : 5 quotations out of 94 quotations of "Lingshu" are not in existing "Lingshu", 11 quotations are different and 5 quotations are from "Suwen". Conclusion : It is supposed that several types of "Lingshu" could be existed when Wangbing wrote annotated "Suwen".

  • Objectives : The purpose of this paper is to study the metaphor that the liver is the admiral from which strategic planning is derived in 『Suwen Linglanmidianlun』 in relation to Liver function. Methods : Annotations to the verse along with descriptions of strategic planning in classical texts and their relation were examined. Results : Previous annotators described the Admiral organ and Strategic Planning separately, in which it is difficult to fully explain the totality the two. They cannot be separated from each other, and only when they are in dependence of each other can they become complete. Liver function as described in classical texts and contemporary text books such as detoxification and sterilization all embody this meaning of strategic planning of an admiral. Conclusions : Reinterpretation of the Liver function based on an integrated understanding of the Liver as described in 『Suwen Linglanmidianlun』 is required. This will allow for better understanding of what the metaphor means, and to better connect this description to Liver physiology for an integrated understanding of the Liver itself in Korean Medicine.

  • Objective : analysis of words related with medical concept and context of paragraphs in Suwen of Huang Di Nei Jing based on concreteness and ideality. Method : First, I extract words having medical concept out of the whole sentence of Huang Di Nei Jing. and classifies them according to the type of medical concept. Second, I classify all sentence of it on the basis of analysing of the words. Result : 1. There are not an interrelationship between the abstract and concrete words from the perspective of cause and effect. Abstract words group are divided into two different parts according to the fundamental character. There are the concept being formed from pure idea and the concept being formed from material idea. The main words composed most important part of the oriental medicine have a combination mode with these two word groups. 2. We have several data about concreteness and ideality of Huang Di Nei Jing. Subjects and contents in provisions are concrete relatively. But the logical basis of sentences is remarkably ideational. Many kinds of abstract words are used dominantly to compose logics of these basis. It confirms that concrete words can not be used to make theories and concepts in Suwen. Conclusion : I analyzed words related with medical concept and context of paragraphs in Suwen of Huang Di Nei Jing based on concreteness and ideality and I found that the concept and logical system of Huang Di Nei Jing in the objective point of view.

『소문(素問)·혈기형지편(血氣形志篇)』의 배유혈(背兪穴)과 간(肝), 비(脾)의 해부학적 위치의 상관성에 대한 연구 (Correlation between Back Accupoints in Suwen·Xueqixingzhipian(素問·血氣形志篇) and Anatomical Location of Liver and Spleen)

  • Objectives : This paper aims to shed light on the change in Korean medicine's anatomical awareness through reviewing the locations and the interrelationship between back acupoints, live, and spleen as revealed in Suwen Xueqixingzhipian. Methods : The locations of the back acupoints described in the Suwen Xueqixingzhipian were compared with the information found in Neijing annotations, Lingsu, and other books on acupuncture, and the location of liver and spleen were compared with the figures of internal organs found in pre-Northern Song Period texts and with Neijing's other chapters. Results : According to Taisu, the acupoint UB18 and UB20 as described in the back acupoints of Suwen Xueqixingzhipian are located left side and right side of human body respectively, and this knowledge derives from an accurate anatomical awareness of the locations of liver and spleen. Although such anatomical awareness found in Taisu, which was published in the Sui Dynasty, was unable to influence the 10th century Oh Dynasty's Yanluozi Neijingtu, it was gradually revised in Northern Song Period's Qixifan Wuzangtu and Cunzhentu through autopsies. However, the Theory of Five Elements which described as seen in the other chapters in Neijing or Tang Dynasty Wang Bing's annotation that liver is located at the left side of human body and spleen at the center exerted an immense influence over the subsequent generations' future doctors. Even though Taisu disappeared in Korea and China at the end of Southern Song period, the accurate anatomical knowledge with regards to the locations of viscera and entrails were passed down through medical texts such as Ming Dynasty's Yixuerumen. Conclusions : Suwen Xueqixingzhipian's awareness on the anatomical locations of liver and spleen only continued until the end of Southern Song period through Taisu. Because of this, it's anatomical awareness did not have a chance to gain much following like the Theory of Five Elements' point of view that were introduced in Wang Bing's annotations.

『소문(素問)·지진요대론(至眞要大論)』의 '구이증기(久而增氣)'와 '기증이구(氣增而久)'의 의미에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Meaning of Increasing Qi for a Long Time and a Long Time has passed with Increased Qi in 『Suwen·Zhizhenyaodalun』)

  • Objectives : The meaning of the verses '久而增氣' and '氣增而久' from the 『Suwen·Zhizhenyaodalun』 were studied to complement previous annotations. Methods : Based on problems uncovered in previous annotations, the verses "久而增氣, 物化之常也" and "氣增而久, 夭之由也" were examined in detail. Results & Conclusions : Previous annotations on the verse "久而增氣, 物化之常也" have conflicting opinions. Therefore, related contents in the 『Huangdineijing』 were examined to resolve and complement existing interpretations. The meaning of '久' in the phrase "久而增氣, 物化之常也," not only has a temporal meaning but also refers to the Jing process[精化」. The Jing process is where the Jing Qi is used to produce Jing through a feedback process that results in enlivening materials such as Jing, Qi, and Blood. The phrase "氣增而久, 夭之由也" refers to an early death caused by expansion of rough Qi that has failed to go through the Jing process because of excessive greed and failure to follow the seasonal principle. These phrases from the 『Suwen·Zhizhenyaodalun』 reminds us that the Qi's Jing process is an important factor in determining longevity, shedding new light on themes such as the pattern of food intake, cultivation, longevity, treating before illness, prevention, etc., for today.

황제내경소문유편(黃帝內經素問遺篇)의 『소문육기현주밀어(素問六氣玄珠密語)』 인용(引用)에 대한 소고(小考) (A Study on the Quotation of uwenliuqixuanzhumiyu in Huangdineijingsuwenyipian)

  • Objective : The subject of this paper's study is the annotation of Suwenliuqixuanzhumiyu, which is a book regarding the theory of yunqixue, as discovered in so-called Huangdineijingsuwenyipian or Yipian. The purpose of this paper is to ponder upon the relationship of the two texts, and, furthermore, review the relationship between the chapter of Suwen about yunqixue and other texts. Method : Annotations are collected and reviewed based on the theory of yunqixue, and much attention is given to the analysis of estimating in which period Yipian was written. Result : The annotation of Xuanzhumiyu found in Huangdineijingsuwenyipian coincides with that of the currently existing sentence in Suwenliuqixuanzhumiyu. With the publication period of Suwenliuqixuanzhumiyu as evidence, it seems that there is a lot of overlapping between that and Xuanzhumiyu since it was annotated in Huangdineijingsuwenyipian. However, since Huangdineijingsuwenyipian seems to have annotated a part of Xuanzhumiyu, it seems that it was written in a slightly later period. Conclusion : The two books are published in a relatively early period, and they are assessed to be important research data for the theory of yunqixue since they include within them clinical needle techniques and other matters that are not found in the chapter of Suwen about yunqixue.

『소문(素問)·위론(痿論)』의 독취양명(獨取陽明)에 대한 고찰 (A Study on 'Specially Selecting Yangming' in 『Suwen·Weilun』)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this paper is to study how medical experts understood 'Specially Selecting Yangming' for clinical application. Methods : After collecting medical texts related to 'Specially Selecting Yangming', its meaning and clinical application were examined thoroughly. Results : 1. The meaning of 'Specially Selecting Yangming' was identified in different ways according to the meaning of 'Yangming.' It was perceived as Stomach, Yangming meridian, Stomach meridian of Foot Yangming, Spleen and Stomach, Intestine and Stomach by medical experts. 2. Chen Wu-ze and Liu Wan-su understood Wei disease as a form of consumption, and regarded 'Specially Selecting Yangming' as tonifying Yangming while Zhang Zi-he put emphasis on Communicating Stomach Qi(胃氣) through vomiting or purgation. Sun Yi-kui insisted on applying it as a precaution. 3. Li Dong-yuan emphasized the cause of Wei disease to be Damp-Heat in the Summer and suggested Qingshuyiqitang and Qingzaotang as remedy. 4. Zhu Zhen-heng's Purging the South and Reinforcing the North is a more fundamental way of treating Wei disease by stimulating the Water-Fire Axis. Conclusions : Through a diachronic study of 'Specially Selecting Yangming' and its remedy, most medical experts regarded 'Specially Selecting Yangming' as tonifying Yangming, but tonifying Liver and Kidney was thought to be a more fundamental treatment.
