A Study on the Actual Conditions of Lifelong Education Facilities in University -Focused on National University of Industry- (대학 내 평생교육시설의 실태에 관한 연구 -국립산업대학교를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the actual conditions of the use and the plan of lifelong education facilities in national university of industry. This article discuses about the basic characteristics of the plan composition and the education programs of 8 lifelong education facilities in national university of industry. The results of this study are summarized as follows; 1) Needed spaces should functionally designed considering that basic and culture lecture, occupation skill and expert education, hobby/amusement/leisure, health/sanitation/sports, tradition culture understanding education among education programs of lifelong education facilities in universities are mainly constituted and occupation skill and expert education among theses are occupied with the most ratio. 2) Expansion of facilities is agent considering the number of students and lectures to be 3.0% from 1.7% of average ratio of continuous dimensions lifelong education facilities of each universities and composition following scale of the lecture room is set by organizing the number of students per lecture to small groups.

  • Recently, the housing market in Korea has been changed from new construction to building-stocks, and focusing on supplier to focusing on users. Open housing is a design method not only content to users' various needs but also to the means of sustainable development by adapted to longevity of buildings. There are some indicators for Open Housing related to Green Building Certification Criteria which were worked by Mock & ME. But those indicators are limited to flexible design methods. This is a basic study for the selecting of Open Housing indicators for complementation of Green Building Certification Criteria by the analysis of SI housing in Japan, domestic Green Building Labelling and those of other countries.

  • To many developing countries like China, the practical way to constant development of city construction is low consuming. The basic methods of low-cunsuming landscape construction: 1) Low building consumption: Decreasing construction quantity. Using low-costing material. Designing low-consuming landscape. Reusing of building material. 2) Low energy consumption: Decreasing water consumption. Consuming and enrichment of earth fertilizer. Decreasing electrical consumption. 3) Low maintenance: Adapting natural material. Using local plants. Special design to decrease maintaining. Because of many reasons, China has not yet adapting Low-consuming Landscape Construction.

A Study on the Criteria and Characteristics of New Material for Housing Space Focused on Sustainability (지속가능한 측면에서의 주거공간 신소재의 기준 및 특성)

  • The study was to grasp features of new material applicable to housing space in the sustainable side by analyzing materialistic features of new material and features of sustainable material with sustainable new material. Through analysis on sustainable new material, the study deducted the below conclusion. First, through the precedent studies, the characteristics of sustainable materials have been classified into eight categories : friendly healthiness, non-toxicity, comfortableness, naturality, recycling, harmlessness of environment, separate collection, reusability. After the criteria have been brought up from new material applicable to housing space in the sustainable. Second, in materialistic Characteristics of new material, 'New Process' was mainly applied. There was no any new material applied to 'new raw material'. Therefore, it is thought that it is necessary to study on development of perfectly new material and to study on new material to apply material used in other fields to finishing material of dwelling space. Third, in Characteristics of sustainable material, 'Re-serviceability' appeared most and 'Non-toxicity' and 'Recycling' appeared in the next. 'Friendly Healthiness' and 'Separate collection' appeared only one on the other side. Therefore, it is judged that it is necessary to develop and study new material including health components considering user's health, function for health increase and function to grope comfort for humans. Finally, after researching and analysis the criteria by recently presented the new material, it has been concluded that the standard can be used as the criteria of new material for the possibility of application in housing space. On the basis of the study, the author will carry out analysis on sustainable new material minutely and utilize it as basic data to suggest a standard of sustainable new material applicable to dwelling space in the future.

  • This study examines the measures and implementation strategies needed to develop sustainable design from an international perspective, using examples of sustainability practices and product planning from Helen Kaminski, a representative fashion brand of positive luxury. The research method includes a literature study on positive luxury, a case study on positive luxury brands, and an empirical study where the researcher participated in the development of Helen Kaminski's design. The study identifies the following measures needed to develop designs for sustainable products: First, the development of designs that increase circularity; Second, the use of certified materials and strict adherence to material usage; Third, the simplification of production methods or development of new technologies for this purpose; Fourth, ensuring that design development incorporate the traditions and unique handicraft techniques of the local community. The implementation strategies required for a sustainable product planning process are as follows. First, changes in the product planning stage and expansion of participating members are needed. Second, securing and conducting prior inspections of the supply chain for ethical sourcing is required. Third, prioritizing the use of eco-friendly materials and material development. Fourth, establishing a stage for selecting and evaluating objects that will become representative designs with sustainability. As a result, this study can serve as basic data to strengthen corporate competitiveness and establish itself as a fashion brand for sustainability through actionable strategies applicable to the domestic fashion industry in the future.

  • Sustainability became the keyword of our society worldwide, and it is undoubtful that buildings are mainly responsible for green house gas emission and energy consumption. Responding to current needs, US Green Building Council has launched the first LEED rating system in 1998. Since then, LEED has been evolved and it has multiple sub-system categorized by project types. This study aims to analyze characteristics of sustainable neighborhood development and to suggest methodology for establishing certification system in Korea. First, LEED-ND 2009(LEED for Neighborhood Development) was addressed with certified projects by US Green Building Council. After that, LEED-NC 2009(LEED for New Construction) was compared with green building certification criteria in Korea to find out unforeseen aspects by each system, in terms of sustainable neighborhood development. As a result of this study, sustainable neighborhood development requires a transition of architects' responsibility beyond building design. Building technology has been advanced at extremely fast pace, however, applying techniques to individual architecture would not make our town sustainable. This study provided basic resources to understand that creating sustainable neighborhood is social phenomenon and more studies should be undertaken to establish Green Neighborhood Certification Criteria in Korea.

  • Since the Standard Design Guide in 1962 and "School Facility Facility Standard Regulation" established in 1969, the elementary school facility in Korea has been amended and complemented. The modern pilot school was started in 1991 and every elementary school facility has been designed based on the modern elementary school from 1994. At present, 8 out of 28 closed schools occurred in the downtown area in Daegu. One of them is located in rent and 7 are used by themselves. The rest 20 schools are located in Dalsung-gun and most of them have old buildings of straight plane shapes built in 1940s. The purpose of this basic study is to pursue the changing process of closed schools based on policy changes of curriculum and to seek the qualitative change when using closed schools. In addition, it is to prepare the using measures when the school close is occurred in the downtown area in the future by classifying and analyzing plane types according to their types.

  • It has been found that implementing the function analysis is very important in terms of accomplishing successful Value Engineering(VE), and the function definition is a basic activity at design VE phase. In spite of the importance, the real function analysis activities in the VE are not regard as consequence. In this regard, this paper attempts to use the campus mater plan to lead an effective function analysis. So, the purpose of this value engineering study is to provide the criteria to develop the campus mater plan. This value engineering study used as a guide for the standardization of the campus mater plan. In addition, broader application is possible through the analysis throughout the different ways of the project.

A Study on Comparison between Korea Green Building Certification Criteria and LEED by School Cases (미국의 LEED와 한국의 친환경건축물 인증기준의 비교 연구 -학교시설 사례분석을 통한-)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the validity of items and to obtain basic information for spread of Korea Green Building Certification Criteria(KGBCC) by comparing items and school cases of KGBCC with those of LEED 2.1. LEED 2.1 is concentrating on 'Energy' and 'Indoor Air Quality' and KGBCC is relatively showing even distribution. And LEED 2.1 is not evaluate 'Ecology' that is important to us. And school cases of KGBCC and LEED 2.1 obtained similar scores by field or those of KGBCC obtained more scores. Domestic buildings need to ontain certification by KGBCC considering domestic situation. Also we need to lead activating of KGBCC through incentive programs.
