  • The purpose of this study is to examine the residents' preference to community facilities in national rental apartment complexes. Twelve housing complexes were sampled and researched with questionnaire and field-surrey methods. The data from the questionnaire survey were processed with SPSS 14 and analyzed by regional group, size of complex, and arrangement plan of facilities. The complexes are located in two legions, Seoul and Gyounggi province. They were also sorted into three groups by size: less than 500 households, 500 to 1,000, and more than 1,000. Lastly, the complexes were categorized into three types: those where facilities are concentrated in or around a single building, dispersed into several places, and located in residential buildings. The results are as follows: Majority of the community facilities are established outdoor and, therefore, the indoor facilities are relatively more insufficient. Especially, there is a shortage of indoor gymnasium while the demand is increasing. It is partly because there is no regulatory guideline on indoor gym requirements in housing complexes. The resident satisfaction measurement shows significant comparison according to region and complex size. The level of satisfaction with garden/kitchen-garden, pond/fountain/streamlet is higher at the complexes in Gyunggi. The residents of larger complexes give positive feedback about spells facilities while those of smaller complexes are more satisfied with education-related facilities such as library and study. The measurement of resident needs shows significant comparison according to complex size and facility arrangement plan. The residents of smaller complexes are more in need of community facilities. In both regulatory standards and actual condition, community facilities are more insufficient at small complexes with less than 500 households.

  • Asbestos have been used around the world because of reliable and cost-effective physicochemical characteristics. After incubation period about 15-40 years asbestos can cause various cancers, including malignant mesothelioma when inhaled into the air. These properties turned out, asbestos have been banned from using in developed countries. Also in Korea also, the use of asbestos was banned across the board by revision of Industry Safety and Health Act in February 2009. Therefore, the problem of asbestos is not when using. It is about dismantling, maintenance, and the final processing of asbestos waste. Asbestos Cement slates which is Widely distributed throughout the country as roofing materials has much scattering potential compare with inside materials. Also Ministry of Environment is planning to introduce legislation 'Asbestos Safety Management Act' through Environment Announcement and The same Act. 24 show as follows. Minister of Environment or governor should do survey on the actual condition targeting rural buildings with slates and partly or fully fund to dissolve, remove asbestos slate which was used in each buildings. Therefore, to solve these problems, database-building and necessity of management strategies have been continually arisen. So this study was performed. Its application value is very high in terms of its political, economic. Asbestos Cement Slates database could build to collect national registered building data and then using GIS, asbestos cement Slates distribution map were constructed in each province's cities and counties of the country. And this map by Application, construction was to visualize by application, construction of year. Through these results, information of Asbestos Cement Slates could visually inform to policy makers, asbestos dismantling and management contractor, and civilian and it would alleviate the gap of knowledge information. This is expected to be utilized by medium and long-term and effective plan for demolition and dismantling of asbestos cement Slates.

  • The ultimate goal of this research is to establish the movement rights of people with physical disabilities. To achieve this goal, the authors have investigated the regulation and restrictions of physical facilities to guarantee the movement rights and investigated how well these facilities were constructed. The authors then have analyzed and compared the results. The purposes of this research are as follows. First, the authors investigated and analyzed the present conditions of selected public facilities to propose improvement measures for the disabled, pregnant and seniors so that they could actively participate in cultural activities as normal people do. Second, the designs resulting from this research are provided so as to be helpful to disabled people in everyday life, which is different from previously conducted research. Third, the authors have selected facilities with outdoor areas to differentiate the results from those reported recently through research conducted on indoor buildings. The final step of this research is to provide basic design data on outdoor areas to establish true movement rights for the disabled. According to these research findings, the shortest moving distance cannot be guaranteed only by establishing facilities that follow the Article 3 law about guarantee of convenience improvement for the disabled. If the movement path is not regulated, the facility standards may not exist in one part and the part itself may become obscured and the distance could become longer than necessary. Accordingly, for real movement rights the movement path should be guaranteed not to be violated by other obstacles. The results of this study offer convenience when moving within the outdoor space of cultural facilities by providing direct information for the disabled. The value of this study is that it is the first study on movement rights and movement paths for people with physical disabilities.
