Global economic recession, global market reduction, and the deteriorating economic recession are forcing the industry to reconsider the business plan and strategy related to supply chain regardless of the size of the companies. During the economic recession caused by financial anxiety, development of international collaborative producer is the key theme for a manufacturing industry to get over the situation. Especially, development of high-skilled people who are capable of handling global manufacturing management is the key factor in China which shifted from a world factory to a world market. In this background, we started the international project of global manufacturing education and training for Chinese company managers from 2009. In this paper, based on the research conducted by the universities and companies in China, a design of global manufacturing education and training is proposed. This presented design is based on the theory of Japanese production strategy and investigation of actual conditions for Chinese companies and the research methodology of business management practice with efficiency and productive for international level management organization. The effectiveness of the education design is evaluated by applying the international education and training project of Aoyama Gakuin Human Innovation Consulting Inc. and Vigor Management Technology Association.
Purpose - Offshoring has emerged as one of the major trends in international trade and has become one of the strategies for achieving competitiveness in the global market. In spite of this, the expected gains of offshoring can be offset by hidden costs and risks, such as those associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the trade war between the USA and China, and the ongoing trade dispute between Korea and Japan. To obviate such business failure and prevent critical business blunders, offshoring strategies that efficiently consider both risk elements and potential wealth creation are urgently need. The first purpose of this study is to contribute to the development of more advanced offshoring strategies to help host countries select the best locations to manage supply chain risks and create unique value. The second purpose is to specifically analyze the current status of Korea and provide Korean companies with implications to be considered when deciding whether to offshore or re-shore. Design/methodology - A Network DEA model was applied to measure the comparative location efficiency of national competencies for offshoring strategy from perspectives of wealth creation opportunities (profitability and marketability) and supply chain risk management. The location efficiencies are compared among a total 70 countries selected from the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) and globally attractive locations outlined by Kearney (2017). For the secondary analysis of efficiency, a t-test examining the nature of competitive advantage and the level of sophistication in production processes was implemented in three divisions. We then analyzed differences in offshoring performance in terms of the identified national traits. Moreover, Tobit regression analysis is conducted to investigate the correlation between value-added business activities and each divisional efficiency, seeking to determine how each degree of value-added business activity influences the increase in offshoring productivity. Findings - Regarding overall location efficiency for offshoring performance, only the USA and Italy were identified as being efficient as host countries for offshoring, under circumstances of advanced development, such as productivity and risk management. Korea ranks 13th among 70 countries. The determinants of national competitiveness depend on national traits (the nature of competitive advantage and business sophistication). Countries with labor/resource advantages and labor-intensive industries are more competitive in terms of marketability than others. In contrast, countries with strong technology-intensive industries benefit offshoring companies, particularly in the technology sector, with the added advantage of supply chain risk management. As the perception of a value chain is broader in a country, it can achieve both production sophistication and competitive advantages such as marketability and SCRM. Originality/value - Existing studies focus on offshoring effectiveness from a company perspective. This paper contributes to comparing country efficiency in producing core competencies related to an offshoring strategy and also segments countries into three performance-based considerations associated with the global offshoring market. It also details Korea's position as an offshoring location according to national efficiency and competency.
Purpose - Environmental issues, climatic changes, and greenhouse gases are problems to be solved at a global level. With an increased emphasis on the environmental and social responsibility of the management of companies, the manner in which companies approach quality-oriented culture and their individual sustainability management are being discussed as truly important issues to help them secure their competitiveness and growth strategies. This study proposes strategic directions to help manufacturers not only in expanding their competitive quality-oriented company culture but also in strengthening their sustainability management abilities. This study conducts a literature review and empirical research to examine how significantly the variables of a quality-oriented company culture, customer-centered management, and process-centered and supply chain management-centered cooperation affect sustainability management performance in relation to economic profitability, environmental integrity, and social responsibility. Research design, data, and methodology - To verify research models and hypotheses, the study examined 170 companies using a questionnaire survey conducted over six weeks, and involved the performance of data analysis on 146 samples. Questionnaire responses were calibrated based on a Likert scale. The study used the Smart PLS 2.0 program designed for PLS (partial least squares), an analysis instrument of SEM (structural equation modeling). The study then verified empirical research hypotheses working on reliability analysis, validity analysis, factorial analysis, and path analysis. Results - Among the nine hypotheses, four are accepted and the rest are rejected. A quality-oriented company culture focusing on customer-centered management significantly influenced the maintainability management performance of environmental integrity and social responsibility, while economic profitability was dismissed. A process-focused quality-oriented company culture was significantly concerned with economic profitability but not with environmental integrity or social responsibility. A supply-chain cooperative company culture had a significant effect on economic profitability but not on environmental integrity or social responsibility. Conclusion - This study proposes strategic directions to help manufacturers expand their competitive quality-oriented company culture as well as strengthen abilities with sustainability management. It conducts a literature review and empirical research to examine how significantly the variables of quality-oriented company culture, customer-centered management, and process-centered and supply chain management-centered cooperation affect sustainability management performance in relation to economic profitability, environmental integrity, and social responsibility. There are two main conclusions. First, companies should consider the need for social responsibility management and environmental transparent management-focused maintainability management as avenues to create new markets and business, thereby helping the companies secure a reputation for having a customer and process-centered quality-oriented company culture by creating shared values between supply chains and enabling win-win situations through cooperation. Second, we are marching towards a creative win-win era from a society of conflicts and ruptures. Companies should understand that social responsibility management and supply chain management (SCM)-focused cooperation are the foundations of sustainable development, as they try to improve their culture while pursuing both win-win relationships with interested parties and equity in various conflictive relations.

Product data quality (PDQ) is a real and significant issue in today's manufacturing environment. In the Korean automotive industry, much of the design work takes place with the support of software tools, such as CAD systems. Although many designers frequently encounter quality problems regarding product data, there is no investigation into the present state of CAD usage and PDQ activities before. The Korean automotive industry is responsible for about 11.1 percent of the total value of manufactured goods in Korea and 7.9 percent of employment in manufacturing. A study performed by the Research Triangle Institute showed that imperfect interoperability imposes at least $\$1$ billion per year on the members of the U.S. automotive supply chain. The trends toward concurrent engineering and out-sourcing have elevated the importance of high-quality product data and efficient product data exchange. This paper shows the results from a survey of PDQ conducted on seven 1st tiers among members of the Korean automotive supply chain.
This study conducted a case study and a questionnaire analysis in parallel. In the case study, a study was conducted on domestic manufacturer A by analyzing pallet loading efficiency of RRP(Retail Ready Packaging) products and pallet loading efficiency of MWC(Membership Wholesale Club) delivered products. As a result of the pallet loading efficiency simulation of 50 RRP products of Manufacturer A, it was 80.0% based on the T-11 type pallet and 84.3% based on the T-12 type pallet. It was found It refers that the route of producing the product from the manufacturer A and delivering it to the MWC A in the form of RRP resulted in the decrease of the pallet loading efficiency through the change of the loading pattern and the adjustment of the number of loads. As a result of analyzing the questionnaire about whether the overall efficiency of the supply chain will be improved if the operation of the packaging system considering the SCM(Supply Chain Management) aspect is χ2 = 178.500, there was a statistically significant difference at the significance level of 0.000. Manufacturers and logistics companies answered "yes" the most, but distributors answered "is average" the most, confirming that the packaging can be constructed with the highest operational efficiency. Therefore, as a result of confirming the impact of packaging design considering the SCM aspect on logistics efficiency, it indicates the importance of closer collaboration between manufacturers and distributors.
Purpose In this study, the relationships among environmental information exchange with suppliers(EIES), green collaboration with suppliers, green learning by environmental information, the adoption of green supply-chain management techniques(AGSMT) (i.e., the green purchasing, product design and production, and the recovery of extra facilities and inventories), environmental performance, and the organizational performance of a firm were empirically investigated. Design/methodology/approach Data for this study were drawn from a survey of the current status of EIES levels and AGSMT usage observed in Korean manufacturing firms. In total, 500 organizations were randomly selected from a population of about 1,000 firms that are listed on the Korean stock market. In order to collect empirical data, this research administered questionnaires with the sample firms. Only chief production executives were selected as respondents. A questionnaire with a cover letter was mailed to each respondent. The survey was conducted during a 3-month period between March 2015 and June 2015. Finally, 78 valid data of the sample firms were collected. Findings The results of this study showed that EIES positively affects the green corporation and learning. According to the results, it was observed that both green corporation and green learning have a positive impact on the levels of AGSMT(i.e., the green purchasing, product design and production). It was also demonstrated that AGSMT has a direct positive impact on environmental performance. In examining the effects of environmental performance on the organizational performance of a firm, significant impact was found.
SCM is one of the important key issues in Internet-based business environment. Most of companies related to B2B electronic commerce are making their efforts to innovate their existing business process into new integrated supply chain process. SCM system using XML/EDI provides competitive advantage to them by reshaping the relationship between traditional trading partners. This study intends to suggest a prototype of SCM system using XML/EDI. To implement SCM system, we analyze and design the supply chain process by using Unified Modeling Language, with a firm engaged in Korean automobile industry, which is a first vendor to produce a set of LAMP. The implementation of SCM system using UML shows excellent performance in software reuse, extensibility, and the interoperability with corporate internal information systems.

The curtain wall engineering of local high-rise buildings consists of many phases such as design, curtain wail design, manufacture, procurement, construction and facility management, each of which also involves many' actors such as architect, curtain wall consultants, manufacturers, contractors, and facility managers. Moreover, the method for controlling the C/W process of each participant is needed. Eliminating wastes and problems existed in the C/W process can be more effective. What is more, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of the current process and to strengthen the competence through application of SCM to the C/W life-cycle. In addition, it is important that a ]ot of information transfer smoothly and share through information system. Therefore, this study aimed to propose the scope of application and the improvement directions in applying Supply Chain Management concept.
The industry has undergone a significant change over the last decade: digital business has become a strategy to survive; the extended enterprise is being implemented; parts are made where conditions are most favourable; non-core activities are out-sourced; advanced manufacturing systems and information technologies are introduced to improve manufacturing performance. Suppliers and distributors become part of the supply chain and they all comprise an integrated international co-operative network to provide manufactured goods and support services for a world market just in time, at low prices and with quality surpassing customers' expectations. In this paper, we review various state-of-the-art information technologies for the shipbuilding industry. The successful introduction and implementation of those technologies will be the key enabler for e-transformation in the shipbuilding industry.

The main purpose of this research is to propose standardization of construction components design with BIM and to develop WLCM Framework and Application System for supply chain management on interaction of stakeholders based on proposed standard component. To accomplish main purpose of this research, we planned three years period, in first year, we will develop model for building lifecycle based on BIM, and this model can give the chance of collaboration with stakeholders of building project. In second year, we will develop WLCM system with model, and to improve performance of application model/system. This study can contribute on reduction of whole lifecycle cost, with preventing omission of factors on cost reduction possibility, develop concurrent engineering framework for construction stakeholders with proposed BIM.
