  • In order to prepare for the coming twenty-first century and to meet changing social demands and health needs, it is necessary to improve the curriculum through development of new conceptual frameworks. The purposes of this study were : 1) to assess the needs of the curriculum of the students, the faculty, the graduates, and the nursing supervisors and head murses ; 2) to develop the conceptual framework which includes philosophy and goals of nursing education based upon needs assessment ; 3) to develop level objectives ; 4) to identigy the contents of the curriculum ; 5) and to develop the faculty. The curriculum was assessed and developed from April, 1995 to March, 1996 through twenty four weekly meetings, two seminars, and two workshops. The process and results of this study are as follows : 1. A needs assessment of the present curriculum was done of the 194 students, 177 graduates, 14 faculty members, and 60 nursing administrators in 5 main areas (objectives, planning and organization, teaching-learning process and methods, evaluation, revision of curriculum). The results showed that there were many descrepancies between expectations and actual situations in all the groups and in all the areas. This implies that there was a necessity for total curriculum revision. 2. To develop the conceptual framework, 1) the core concepts were identified(man, health, environment, and nursing) on the basis of the existing educational philosophy and educational objectives of our school, elicited by group discussions using the nominal group method, one of the needs assessment methods, the philosophy and objectives were restated. 2) Six essential componednts were indentified for the conceptual framework from the restated philosophy and objectives ; nursing process, communication, professional roles, client, health, and nursing. The vertical theread consists of the client and health/nursing ; and the horizontal thread consists of nursing process, communication, and professional roles. 3. The contents of the curriculum were selected on the basis of the educational objectives and organized according to the conceptual framework. 4. The level objectives were then restated. It is expected that the objectives of our school will be accomphished through developing the courses, choosing and Implementing, more effective teaching-learning methods, and evaluating the efficacy of changes implemented. The most important factor will be to continually upgrade the faculty and their teaching skills.

  • The purpose of this research study is to find factors associated with burnout in social workers in public sector. This study examined the impact of social support and job-related tension on burnout of social workers in public sector. A participant of 300 social workers in public sector were recruited from Inchen city and completed the questionnaires during August, 2011. Data were entered into simple regression and hierarchical multiple regression analyses. First, women had a little higher mean score of burnout than men. However, this was not a statistically significant difference. Job Classification and year of work experiences were very important predictors for burn-out of social workers in public sector. Second, there was a strong positive relationship between job-related tension and burnout. Third, there was a strong negative relationship between social support and burnout. As the perception about social support by social workers increased, the level of burnout tended to decrease. Finally, the set of analyses examined the impact of social support after controlling for effects of demographic variables and job-related tension. Perceived social support, job-related tension made a significant contribution in burnout. The results of this research study provide several implications for social work practices. More research is needed regarding the effects of social support and job-related tension on burnout of social workers in public sector. For social works in public sector, supervision from supervisors appeared to have a protective effect against social workers' burnout.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how Korean music therapy students experience growth under clinical supervision. The investigator conducted in-depth qualitative interviews with 9 students from 3 different universities in Seoul who had at least three semesters of clinical supervision. Data was analyzed using a modified grounded theory approach to construct the growth experience of music therapy supervisees. Results suggest that growth can be understood in terms of both personal and professional domains and includes four types of experiences: growth hindering, fostering, mediating, and revealing. In the personal domain, hindering factors are defensiveness, narcissistic trauma, avoidance and anxiety whereas growth fostering and mediating factors include reflection on self, musical self, unconscious drives and conflicting issues as well as self-driven problem solving skills. As a result, growth in the personal domain is associated with increased self-acceptance and self-awareness. Growth in the professional domain is hindered by having trust issues, performance anxiety, identity crisis, and being hypersensitive to the judgment of others. On the other hand, growth is fostered and mediated by opening the self and interacting more with others, building trusting relationships with peers and supervisors, and establishing a new relationship with music, which leads to improved attitude, increased motivation, and more efficient and effective training.

The author visited supervisors of operating room in each university hospital and explained the aim of this study. The most of them(90.0%) answered to the questionaires. Analysis of the collected data were done by mean, standard deviation, percentage, t-test, F-test, Q-test, correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA.and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Major findings of this study were as follows: 1. The job of the operating room nurses were remarkably related with the satisfaction in human relation, which was defined as the behavioral job with thoughtful action rather than with mechanical action. However, the degree of satisfaction in human relation with personnel in other departments was found to be the lowest and its the main depressive factors were appeared due to the absence of interaction and uncooperative attitudes. • This study consists of five case studies of the catering facilities of newly-built elementary schools' in Sejong City, regarding the spatial configuration and allocation. The analysis indicated that the space allocated in the cooking area in the five schools compared to the standard was as follows: School A; 99.2%, B; 91.1%, C; 81.4%, D; 110.8%, E; 88.1%. Accordingly, the cooking area was close to, or slightly above the standard; nevertheless, other areas in the facilities were not allocated sufficient space and were not appropriately planned. Among the other findings, the receiving areas of three schools were not even planned, and the receiving works were carried out in the pre-preparation area. Considering the flow of the dish-washing process, the width of the room should be at least 3.6 meters with a passage width of 1.6 meters, and easy access to the cooking and dining areas must be equipped. An interview with all five supervisors showed that most complaints focused on the cooking and dishwashing areas, whereas there were none in the storage and workers' area. The result highlights the importance of the cooking and dishwashing areas as the main functions in catering facilities, and future planning strategies should consider this aspect.
