Sl Transitions in BSCCO Mixed Crystal Thin Films

  • Temperature (T) dependence of the sheet resistance (R$\_$$\square$/) has been investigated an the c-axis oriented thin films of the (Bi2212/Bi2201) mixed crystal with different molar fractions. The R$\_$$\square$/-T superconducting characteristic deteriorated with reduction of the Bi2212 fraction, and almost disappears at 48 mol% where a superconductor-to-insulator transition too k place, with the resistance on the normal state, R$\_$N/, reaching 4.1 kΩka at 80 K. This R$\_$$\square$/ value is close to the universal quantum number, h/(2e)$_2$≡ 6.5 kΩ predicted by the Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT) transition theory. The R$\_$$\square$/-T characteristics of the 48 mol% thin film can be elucidated as a competitive process of KT transition brought about by charge or vortex in the two-dimensional layer structure.

RF Magnetron Sputtering 방법에 의한 고온 초전도 박막 제조를 위한 조성 조절 및 열처리 효과 (Composition Control and Annealing Effects on the Growth of YBaCuO Superconducting Thin Films by RF Magnetron Sputtering)

  • High Tc Supperconducting thin films were fabricated by rf magnetron sputtering method. We have successfully controlled the compositions of films by adding sintered CuO pellets on YBa2Cu3O7-x single target. High Tc thin films with large grian size and good crystal habit were obtained by rapid thermal annealing process. The films deposited on SrTiO3(100) single crystal substrate indicated the existence of c-axis prefered orientation confirmed by XRD and SEM analysis. The Tc, zero's of sharp resistive transition for rapid annealed films deposited on polycrystalline YSZ substrate and on SrTiO3(100) single crystal substrate were 79K and 88K, respectively.

벌크형 고온 초전도 합성 (Fabrication of Bulk High-Tc Superconductor)

  • Oxide YBCO bulk superconductors are manufactured using the melt process. Because seed crystal growth method utilizes a slow-spreading layer-by-layer reaction, a long-term heat treatment is required to manufacture a single-crystal specimen of several cm. In this study, the melt process method was applied to compensate for the shortcomings of the seed crystal growth method. The thickness of the upper and lower pellets of the YBCO bulk was molded to 40 mm, and YBCO superconductor was produced by heat treatment. The measurement results of capture magnetism was in line with the literature. This results in a relationship that the higher the growth of Y211 particle in the YBCO, the higher the superconducting properties. We analyzed the YBCO superconductor, focusing on the Y2BaCuO5 particle distribution.

Single-Crystal like MgB2 thin films grown on c-cut sapphire substrates

  • Single-crystal like $MgB_2$ thin film was grown on (000l) $Al_2O_3$ substrate by using hybrid physical-chemical vapor deposition (HPCVD) system. Single crystal properties were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the (0001) $MgB_2$ peak is $15^{\circ}$, which is very close to that has been reported for $MgB_2$ single-crystal. It indicates that the crystalline quality of thin film is good. Temperature dependence on resistivity was investigated by physical property measurement system (PPMS) in various applied fields from 0 to 9 T. The upper critical field ($H_{c2}$) and irreversibility field ($H_{irr}$) were determined from PPMS data, and the estimated values are comparable with that of $MgB_2$ single-crystals. The thin film shows a high critical temperature ($T_c$) of 40.4 K with a sharp superconducting transition width of 0.2 K, and a high residual resistivity ratio (RRR=21), it reflects that $MgB_2$ thin film has a pure phase structure.

기계적 합금화에 의한 비고용 Cu-Nb계 비평형 합금의 제조 (Fabrication of nonequilibrium alloy powders in immiscible Cu-Nb system by mechanical alloying)

  • 본 연구에서는 순 Cu 및 Nb 혼합분말에 대하여 Ar 분위기 중 고에너지 볼밀처리를 실시하여 기계적 합금화(MA) 효과를 조사하였다. $Cu_xNb_{100-x}$(x=5-50) 조성의 혼합분말을 각각 120시간까지 MA 처리 한 결과, Cu의 bcc-Nb 과포화 고용체가 30 at% Cu까지 넓어짐을 X선 회절분석, DSC 열분석 및 저온비열 측정을 통한 초전도 천이온도 변화로부터 알수 있었다. 120시간 MA 처리한 $Cu_{30}Nb_{70}$ 조성합금의 열분석 결과 broad한 발열반응만이 관찰되었으며, 볼밀처리에 의하여 계에 축적되는 에너지는 볼밀시간에 따라 증가하여 7.5kJ/mol 에 포화됨을 알 수 있었다. Miedema et al.의 계산에 의하면 $Cu_{30}Nb_{70}$ 혼합분말과 과포화 고용체의 자유에너지 차가 7kJ/mol이며, 본 연구에서 MA에 의하여 계에 축적된 에너지 값과 거의 같은 사실로부터 이 계에서 열역학적으로 과포화 고용체가 충분히 얻어질 수 있음을 나타내는 것으로 판단된다.

상온상압 초전도체(LK-99) 개발을 위한 고찰 (Consideration for the development of room-temperature ambient-pressure superconductor (LK-99))

  • 이 논문에서는 기존의 초전도 현상을 바라보는 물리학자들의 생각의 흐름과 한계들을 살펴보고, 통계 열역학적 액체론의 관점에서 제시한 이론적 배경을 통해 상온 상압 초전도체가 개발될 수 있음을 약술하였다. 이것이 가능 할 방안은, 전자들이 돌아다닐 수 있는 상태수가 현저히 제한되는 1-Dimension에 가까운 전자 상태이어야 한다는 것과 그 상태에 있는 전자들이 액체적 특성이 나타날 수 있을 정도로 전자-전자 상호작용이 빈번한 상태이어야 한다는 것이다. 이러한 실행 예로서 우연한 기회에 실마리를 얻어 수많은 실험으로 구조를 밝혀낸 LK-99(본 연구에서 개발한 상온 상압 초전도체의 이름)의 개발 자료를 보고하며, 이에 세계 최초로 상압에서 임계온도가 97℃를 능가하는 초전도 물질의 특성과 발견에 대한 이론적, 실험적 근거를 요약하였다.

확산법을 이용한 사고전류제한기용 $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ 후막연구 (A study on $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ thick films by diffusion process for a superconducting fault current limiter)

  • $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$(Yl23) Superconducting thick films on $Y_2BaCuO_5$(Y211) substrate were Prepared by surface diffusion process between $BaCuO_2$+CuO composite coating powder and a Y2ll substrate. X-ray diffraction shows that the Yl23 layer onto Y2ll substrate is the orthorhombic crystal structure. The specimen heated at $940^{\circ}C$ for 2h showed the maximum $J_c$ fo 500A/$cm^2$. Based on optimal condition, the superconducting fault current limiter(FCL) having a current limiting area 1mm wide and 66mm long was fabricated on Y211 substrate. A typical current limiting waveform was measured. When a voltage of 3V was applied, the fault current with a peak of 15A was limited to about 0.11A.

열분해법에 의한 전력기기용 초전도 합성 기술에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fabrication of Superconductor Using Pyrolysis Methods for Electric power Machinery)

  • A high Tc superconducting with a nominal composition of $Bi_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_Y$ was prepared by the citarte method. The solid precursor produced by the dehydration of the gel at 120$^{\circ}C$ for 12h is not in the amorphous state as expected but in a crystalline state. X-ray diffraction peaks of nearly the same angular position as the peaks of high Tc phase were observed in the precursor. After pyrolysis at 400$^{\circ}C$ and calcination at 840$^{\circ}C$ for 4h, the (001)peak of the high Tc phase was cleary observed. Experimental results suggest that the intermediate phase formed before the formation of the superconducting phase may be the most important factro in determining whether it is easy to form the high Tc phase or not, because the nucleation barriers of the two superconducting phase may be altered by the variation of the crystal structures of those intermediate phase.
