Analysis on the Patent Portfolio for Hidden Champion Companies: Focusing on the "Hidden Champion" companies introduced in Herman Simon's book (히든 챔피언 기업의 특허 포트폴리오 연구: 헤르만 지몬의 저서에 소개된 "히든 챔피언" 기업들을 중심으로)

  • In fostering dynamic, innovative SMEs, hidden champion companies can be an appropriate model for SMEs to learn the success factors. On the other hand, the need for intellectual property management is becoming important as the value of a company is changing from a financial asset to an intellectual property. Therefore, in this study, the patent portfolio analysis of the hidden champion companies mentioned in Herman Simmon's book "Hidden Champion" was performed. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that patents are not possessed or patent activities are actively carried out and a differentiated intellectual property management strategy is implemented to improve patent quality depending on the characteristics of the technology possessed. The results of these studies can be used as basic data to prepare an intellectual property management strategy for companies that want to create opportunities to acquire monopoly rights and reduce patent maintenance and management costs. In addition, in this study, the patent IPC analysis verified that Herman Simmon's claim that "Hidden champions have the ability to focus on core competencies and focus on one technology" is valid.

A Study on the Reasons for Participation in the Training of the Work-Learning Parallel Program (중소기업 일·학습병행제의 훈련 참여 이유에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, parallel work-learning training, which was started in 2013 as a pre-employment promotion policy, is an important factor that determines the success or failure of training. As a time when various institutional supplementation is needed to encourage company participation, this study is to identify the factors of participation of companies participating in work-learning parallel. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted of companies participating in parallel work-learning in Chungnam, and the results were analyzed using the structural equation model. As a result of the study, the reason for the company's participation in parallel work-learning was firstly, 84% of government subsidy received education and training expenses. Second, 66% of workers were able to pay less than regular workers, and thirdly, it was easy to hire new employees in the field. 26%, 17% of them were invited by acquaintances for no particular reason. Therefore, the study suggests that participation in the work-learning parallel training contributes to the management costs, management of employee turnover, and human resource development. In future research, it is necessary to subdivide tests and estimates by conducting studies on regions, occupations, gender, wages, and years of service in Korea.

A literature review on cementation of implant prosthesis (임플란트 보철물의 합착에 대한 문헌고찰)

  • Cement-retained implant prosthesis has several advantages in the esthetic and occlusal aspects. However, the difficulty of the retrievability and the possibility of peri-implantitis induced by the cement excess would be a threatening factor to the implant prognosis. Peri-implantitis resulting from the remaining cement could occur later on to the patients with periodontitis history. Retention can be controlled by selecting the right cement type. Retention of the cement was the strongest in the resin cement, followed by resin modified glass ionomer cement, poIycarboxylate cement, zinc phosphate cement and glass ionomer cement. Retention of the provisional cement weakened after thermocycling. Other factors such as the abutment number, abutment alignment, height and taper of the abutment can also affect the total retention. To the success of the cement-retained prosthesis, it's important to select the right cement for the clinical purpose. The prosthesis should be fabricated in accordance with the biomechanical requirements. The prosthesis should be cemented with the techniques to reduce the excess cement as much as possible. In addition, the excess cement should be identified using the radiography and carefully removed.

  • As the mobile telecommunications industry in Korea boasts record-high revenue from its businesses, consumers and other industries are looking for new business applications and opportunities using mobile technologies. Many firms are seeking guidelines or business models for an effective use of this new mobile technology in their operations. This paper reviews the characteristics that distinguish mobile marketing, and analyzes marketing approaches which utilize the potential of the new mobile technologies. This paper shows that the new mobile advertising channel is not only complementary to traditional marketing channels, but also delivers benefits for multiple parties involved in mobile marketing. The key success factors in the new OB (Oriental Brewery) marketing campaign include a shortening of the stages in the AIDMA model and a broadening of customer contact points by exposing the brand through well-coordinated marketing efforts. The OB case shows that a mutually beneficial relationship between co-marketing participants can lead to a win-win marketing strategy. It also highlights that collaborative channel management in mobile marketing methodology is critical for successful mobile marketing.

What Shall We Do for the Academic Information Systems Sustainability?: The Role of Mindfulness (지속 가능한 대학 경쟁력의 원천: 마을챙김의 대학 정보화)

  • IT advances rapidly and is widely used both in for-profit and non-profit organizations. Academic institutions are no exception in the adoption of new IT such as e-libraries, e-blackboards, as well as Web 2.0 services. However, administrative information systems in colleges and universities often lag relatively behind. One of the reasons of this is that academic institutions tend to focus only on the implementation of IT, while neglecting the mindfulness needed for post-implementation. This study develops a new perspective for the sustainability of academic information systems through the lens of mindfulness. The results from administrating a nation-wide survey of universities and colleges provide the variations of a ranking of the critical success factors between implementation and post-implementation. The findings imply that both individual and collective mindfulness are needed to implement and, especially, sustain administrative IS successfully in academic institutions.

Perception Gaps among IS Practitioners in regard to CRM Systems: An Empirical Study (고객관계관리(CRM) 시스템에 관한 정보시스템 실무자의 인식 차이에 대한 실증연구)

  • In this study, we surveyed information systems(IS) personnel in organizations which have adopted customer relationship management(CRM) systems (Group one IS personnel), those in organizations which plan to adopt CRM systems(Group two IS personnel), and IS consultants specialized in the CRM. We found that there are significant perception gaps among the three groups of IS practitioners in regard to the three aspects of CRM systems: the effects of CRM systems, critical success factors of CRM systems introduction, and the pros and cons of outsourcing a CRM system by the application service providers(ASP). The results reveal that Group one IS personnel evaluate the effectiveness of their CRM systems as moderate, while IS consultants evaluate the effectiveness of CRM systems very high and that Group two IS personnel expect the effectiveness of CRM systems to be as high as the evaluation of IS consultants. IS personnel evaluated the advantages of outsourcing CRM systems by ASP to be moderate while IS consultants evaluated it to be high. The results also show that the adoption of CRM systems is initiated by strong leadership of the top management but is not supported adequately by management thereafter.

  • This paper aims at figuring out specific characteristics of affective attitude of gifted and talented in information, predicting follow-up activities and desirable direction of learning. Based on the analysis of this paper as educational directions and suggestions for elementary gifted and talented students in information are as follows: First, in gender ratio of gifted and talented in information, including the fact that ratio of boys is high, there remain the previous prejudice of higher information capability and it seems that girls who depend on external factors, parents and teachers should make more efforts to help girls trust their own capability in information science and lead them to give more value to attribution of efforts for achievement in information science. Second, as grade is higher, motivation to learn information science and attitude for success in information science among sub-elements of attitude to information science, motivation to seed positive recognition to higher graders is required. Third, in screening and selecting gifted and talented students in information, attitude to information science should be considered as main cause and the existing gifted and talented students in information should be prompted to improve their attitude to information science with value on effort for information science.

  • Background: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), a major problem of health in Thailand, particularly in Northeastern and Northern regions, is generally incurable and rapidly lethal because of presentation in stage 3 or 4. Early diagnosis of stage 1 and 2 could allow better survival. Therefore, this study aimed to provide a distribution map of populations at risk for CCA in BuaYai district of Nakhon Ratchasima province, Northeast Thailand. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out in 10 sub-districts and 122 villages, during June and November 2015. The populations at risk for CCA were screened using the Korat CCA verbal screening test (KCVST) and then risk areas were displayed by using Google map (GM). Results: A total of 11,435 individuals from a 26,198 population completed the KCVST. The majority had a low score of risk for CCA (1-4 points; 93.3%). High scores with 6, 7 and 8 points accounted for 1.20%, 0.13% and 0.02%. The population at risk was found frequently in sub-district municipalities, followed by sub-district administrative organization and town municipalities, (F=396.220, P-value=0.000). Distribution mapping comprised 11 layers: 1, district; 2, local administrative organization; 3, hospital; 4, KCVST opisthorchiasis; 5, KCVST praziquantel used; 6, KCVST cholelithiasis; 7, KCVST raw fish consumption; 8, KCVST alcohol consumption; 9, KCVST pesticide used; 10, KCVST relative family with CCA; and 11, KCVST naive northeastern people. Geovisual display is now available online. Conclusions: This study indicated that the population at high risk of CCA in Bua Yai district is low, therefore setting a zero model project is possible. Key success factors for disease prevention and control need further study. GM production is suitable for further CCA surveillance and monitoring of the population with a high risk score in this area.

  • In recent years, Ubiquitous City (u-City), the integrated and convergence of ubiquitous services, infrastructure, technologies and city management of the new future development city, is being initiated by the Korean government and local authorities as their new national growth engine. However, a performance measurement system for evaluating and monitoring the impacts of U-City implementation is yet to be established. This paper aims to develop an integrated performance management system (PMS) and extensively used as a tool for managing performance activities to support the visions and goals of the u-City operations. Based on current reviews on the literature and interviews with experts drew Critical Success Factors (CSF) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) by four different measurement domains including U-City services, infrastructure, technologies, management and developed into an integrated performance measurement system based on the Balanced Scored Card (BSC) perspective. The system also provides number of examples of 'u-City Strategy Map' which illustrates a causal relationship between CSFs to execute u-City visions and goals.

Research of sustainable Social-Economy Business Model Development utilizing Internal Resource -Case study of Incheon International Airport Corporation- (내부자원을 활용한 지속가능한 사회적경제 비즈니스모델 개발 연구 -인천국제공항공사 사례 중심으로-)

  • Many domestic companies have connections with social enterprise as one of the corporate social responsibility. However, majority of those connections are typically occasional, one-time donation. Therefore, current study focused on how to develop/nurture sustainable business model of social economy, which utilizes the companies' internal resources enabling communities to actually feel the impact. Literature survey for 25 reports and 123 business models for the past 5 years was performed and analyzed in terms of social-economy business models and job creation. It was found that the success factors of the job creation are: internal resources analysis, business model development, and support activities for execution (probono). Based upon the findings, DIDOV (Define-Identify-Design-Optimize-Verify) methodology was used to understand the effects of government policies and technological environment. As an exemplary case, Incheon International airport Corporation was selected and investigated for internal resources and related business models. Finally, 9 social-economy business models are derived for Incheon International airport Corporation in relation to the airport services offered.
