  • For real-time flood forecasting and effective control flood at the Youngsan estuary dam, the Flood Forecasting and Control User Interface System II (FFCUS II) has been developed. This paper describes the features and application of FFCUS II. FFCUS II is composed of the database management subsystem, the model subsystem, and the graphic user interface. The database management subsyem collects rainfall data and stream flow data, updates, processes, and searches the data. The model subsystem predicts the inflow hydrograph, the tide, forecasts flood hydrograph, and simulates the release rate from the sluice gates. The graphic user interface subsystem aids the user's decision-making process by displaying the operation results of the database management subsystem and model subsystem.

  • Recently, to solve the urban transportation problem, the introduction of Light Rail Transit system has been proceeded positively. therefore, development of the Korean standard LRT system in which safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness are emphasized. The Korea Railroad Research institute study on Rubber Tired AGT system of Light Rail Transit to obtain the essential technology and engineering know-how, which leads lower LRT construction cost. In the development procedure, SE(system Engineering) is needed for combination of subsystem and optimum operation effect. This study is focused on the interface of LRT subsystem(Development of the rubber tired LRT, Power supply system, signalling and train control system, Elevated track structure for the rubber tired LRT), a important part of SE, to develop of the driverless LRT system and establish the test and evaluation.

  • IMT-2000 시스템(International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 system)은 음성, 화상, 및 데이터 서비스등 멀티미디어 서비스 제공을 목표로 기존의 디지털 이동통신 시스템에 적용된 기본 기술에 새로운 시스템 개념과 각종 응용기술 및 망 기술이 접목된 차세대 이동통신 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 동기방식의 IMT-2000 시스템의 핵심 시스템인 제어국(BSC : Base Station Controller)의 무선 트래픽 및 신호접속기능, 이동호 제어기능 및 운용보전기능의 설계 및 구현에 대하여 논하고자 한다. 또한, IMT-2000 시스템의 호처리 절차 및 핸드오프 처리절차를 제시한다. 주로 BSC의 서브시스템인 AIS(ATM Interconnection Subsystem), BIS(BTS Interface Subsystem), SDS(Selector Distribution Subsystem), CSS(Control & Signal Subsystem) 및 BEMS(Base station Element Management Subsystem)의 구조와 기능, 그리고 MS(Mobile Station),BTS(Base Station Transceiver Subsystem), BSC 및 MSC(Mobile Switching Center)간의 호처리 기능, 절차(핸드오프 기능 포함)를 설계, 구현하였다.

  • A real-time flood forecasting system(FLOFS) was developed for the real-time and predictive determination of flood discharges and stages, and to aid in flood management decisions in the Keum River Estuary Dam. The system consists of three subsystems : data subsystem, model subsystem, and user subsystem. The data subsystem controls and manages data transmitted from telemetering systems and simulated by models. The model subsystem combines various techniques for rainfall-runoff modeling, tidal-level forecasting modeling, one-dimensional unsteady flood routing, Kalman filtering, and autoregressivemovingaverage(ARMA) modeling. The user subsystem in a menu-driven and man-machine interface system.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop Water Quality Management System(WQMS), which performs calculating pollutant discharge and forecasting water quality with water pollution model. Operational water quality management requires not only controlling pollutants but acquiring and managing exact information. A GIS software, ArcView was used to enter or edit geographic data and attribute data, and MapObject was used to customize the user interface. PCI, a remote sensing software, was used for deriving land cover classification from 20 m resolution SPOT data by image processing. WQMS has two subsystems, Database Subsystem and Modelling subsystem. Database subsystem consisted of watershed data from digital map, remote sensing data, government reports, census data and so on. Modelling subsystem consisted of NSPLM(NonStorm Pollutant Load Model)-SPLM(Storm Pollutant Load Model). It calculates the amount of pollutant and predicts water quality. This two subsystem was connected through graphic display module. This system has been calibrated and verified by applying to Mokhyun stream watershed.

  • AICPS(Advanced Information Communication System)는 다양한 서비스망들을 고속으로 지원하기 위하 여, 내부의 연동망인 고속스위칭패브릭(High Speed Switching Fabric: HSSF)을 중심으로 다양한 서비스 인터페이스 기능 모률이 접속되는 형태를 가진다. AICPS는 크게 정보 서비스 이용자들이 접속되는 서비스 이용자 접속 시스댐(User Access Network Subsystem: UANS) , 정보 제공 센터들을 위한 정보 제공 센터 접속 시스템(Information Delivery Network Subsystem : IONS)으로 구성되며, 여기에 시스템 관리를 위한 단위 시스템 운영관리장치(Local Operations and Management System : LOMS)가 접속된다. 본 고에서는 AICPS를 운영 관리하는 LOMS, LOMS를 AICPS의 HSSF와 연결하기 위한 관리망 접속 서브시스템 (Operational Network Ace랭 Subsystem: ONAS)의 구조에 대하여 설명하고, 이들 사이에 적용된 신뢰도 향상 알고리즘 및 전국 관리망 구축 방법에 대하여 기술한다.

  • This paper described the overall operations and applications of the water environment management and evaluation systems (WEMES) for environmental management, conservation, and evaluation for a small watershed. WEMES was to be applied with field data from small watersheds ranging from 0.4 to 29.79km2 in size which have steep topography and complex landuses. WEMES was a computer aided decision support system, that was comprised of the database subsystem, the simulation model subsystem, the environmental evaluation model subsystem, and the graphic user interface subsystem that visualizes the simulated results. The water environment management and evaluation with WEMES was successfully performed.

  • In this paper, we present design features, implementation, and validation of a satellite simulator subsystem for the Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-2 (KOMPSAT-2). The satellite simulator subsystem is implemented on a personal computer to minimize costs and trouble on embedding onboard flight software into the simulator. An object-oriented design methodology is employed to maximize software reusability. Also, instead of a high-cost commercial database, XML is used for the manipulation of spacecraft characteristics data, telecommand, telemetry, and simulation data. The KOMPSAT-2 satellite simulator subsystem is validated by various simulations for autonomous onboard launch and early orbit phase operations, anomaly operation, and science fine mode operation. It is also officially verified by successfully passing various tests such as the satellite simulator subsystem test, mission control element system integration test, interface test, site installation test, and acceptance test.

  • This paper is to suggest reliability modeling and analysis method of Electric Multiple Unit (EMU). It is necessary to identify subsystem/equipments of EMU and functional interfaces between subsystems in order to carry out reliability modeling of EMU properly. After identifying subsystem/equipments and functional interface, reliability allocation is performed using ARINC method. Reliability target of system/subsystems is verified in revenue service during the proper periods.

  • 클러스터 컴퓨팅에서 성능 개선의 한계점으로 인식되는 것은 클러스터 내의 통신 서브시스템(communication subsystem)이다. 이러한 한계점을 해결하기 위해서 사용자 수준 통신프로토콜이 제안되었고 Microsoft, Compaq, Intel 3사에 의해서 표준화되었다. 본 논문에서는 사용자 수준 통신의 산업계 표준으로 선정된 Virtual Interface Architecture(VIA)[1]의 개요에 대해서 알아보고, VIA를 효과적으로 구현한 KVIA(Kaist-VIA)에 대해 기술한다.
