  • This paper is to investigate the wear behavior of submerged-arc claddings by the wear test with a ball-on-disk type wear testing machine in air. The specimens were clad with Stoody105 alloy wire on a medium carbon steel (SM45C) substrate by submerged-arc cladding process under different welding parameters. The wear behavior of the cladding through ball-on-disk test has been studied under the wear load from 5 to 16 N and the sliding speed from 8 to 35 cm/s. The weight loss of the specimen was measured. Scanning electron micrographs of the worn surface show a layer of oxide film formed on the worn surface. Oxidation wear mechanism controls the wear process. The spatting of the oxide is caused by the repeated rubbing fatigue mechanism.

  • This paper describes the optimization of PGS(Patterned Ground Shield) of 5.5 turns rectangular spiral inductor using Taguchi's method. PGS is decrease method of parasite component by silicon substrate among dielectric loss reduction method. By using the taguchi's method, each parameter is fixed upon that PGS high poison(A), slot spacing(B), strip width(C) and overlap turn number(D) of PGS design parameter. Then we verified that percentage contribution and design sensitivity analysis of each parameter and level by signal to noise ratio of larger-the-better type. We consider percentage contribution and design sensitivity of each parameter and level, and then verify that model of optimization for PGS is lower inductance decreasing ratio and higher Q-factor increasing ratio by EM simulation.

  • In this letter, the effect of quality factor on center frequency deviation in miniaturized coupled line bandpass filter (BPF) with diagonally end-shorted at their opposite sides and lumped capacitors is theoretically analyzed. The miniaturized BPF of a two-stage structure with two types of quality factors in standard CMOS process was designed and manufactured at 5.5 GHz. The die area of BPF was $1.44{\times}0.41\;mm^2$. The measured center frequency of BPF with a quality factor of 4.9 was deviated from 5.5 GHz to 4.7 GHz. The one with 14.8 was shifted to 5GHz. The theoretical and measured results validate that quality factor influences the center frequency shift of BPF.

  • This paper presents a method for analyzing and designing an extremely miniaturized planar ring hybrid, using the combination of parallel and diagonally shorted coupled lines. In contrast to conventional miniaturized coupled line filters, it is proven that the required electrical length of transmission line can be largely reduced to even a few degrees, not only effectively suppressing the spurious passband but also approximately maintaining the same characteristic around the stable center frequency. A ring hybrid filter at center frequency of 1 GHz was fabricated on the FR4 epoxy glass cloth copper-clad plat (CCL) PCB substrate. The insertion loss of a ring hybrid filter with the die area of $30mm{\times}30mm$ is -4.68 dB. Simulated results are well agreed with the measurements.

  • Calculation was carried out for phase velocity and deformation wave decay in a layer of viscoelastic material fixed tightly on the solid substrate. Analysis has been performed regarding the inner structure of the wave, i.e., the proportions between the vertical and horizontal displacements and their profiles. The wave characteristics depend strongly on media compressibility factor. The effect of viscous losses on parameters of the main oscillation mode was studied in detail. Results were compared with the model of coating with local deformation. A new experimental approach was made in order to measure such wave properties of a compliant coating as the dependency of deformation wave velocity on frequency and decay factor was made. The method for estimation of coating parameters enabling the drag reduction in turbulent flow was then refined.

  • Carboxymethyl cellulase (CMCase) produced by cloned B. megaterium was found to contain 5.2% carbohydrate but no metal ion. The enzyme was isoelectric at pH 7.23 and was high is basic amino acids. The N-terminal of the enzyme was glutamic acid. The cellulolytic activity of this enzyme was extended to the small molecular substrates such as from cellotriose to cellopentaose. In additon, the enzyme showed transglycoslation activity. The pK values of the enzyme we estimated to be 4.4 and 6.7, andthat of the enzyme-substrate complex were 4.2 and 7.2, respectively. The enzyme was not affected by the treatment with iodoacetic acid, but the modification of enzyme with carbodiimide and diethyl pyrocarbonate resulted in a marked loss of the enzyme activity. These results suggest that the active site of enzyme essentially contains carboxylic and imidazole group of amino acid residues.

  • The SBN thin films were deposited at substrate temperature of 300[$^{\circ}C$] on Pt-coated electrode (Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si(100)) using RF sputtering method. The grain and crystallinity of SBN thin films were increased with the increase of annealing temperature. The dielectric constant(150) of SBN thin film was obtained by annealing temperature above 750[$^{\circ}C$]. The voltage dependence of dielectric loss showed a value within 0.01 in voltage ranges of -5~+5[V]. The capacitance characteristics showed a stable value of about 0.7[${\mu}F/cm^2$].

  • In this paper, a compact triplexer has been implemented for Cellular/GPS/USPCS applications. In order to realize the proposed triplexer, we use a low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) substrate to enable a fully compact integrated module using a multi-layer high-density architecture, and conjugate-match the channels instead of the open matching technique. The three dimensional design capability of LTCC substrates can reduce the overall size of the triplexer, resulting in dimensions on the order of $3.2\;mm\;{\times}\;2.5\;mm\;{\times}\;1\;mm$. The measured result shows that the triplexer has, in Cellular/GPS/USPCS bands, the insertion loss of less than 0.5dB, less than 1.7dB, and less than 0.9dB in order. Also, the triplexer has an isolation of more than 15dB in the cellular and USPCS bands and an isolation of more than 20dB in the GPS band.

  • The films of the vanadium tungsten oxide, $V_{1.85}W_{0.15}O_5$, were grown on Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate by RF sputtering method. It was found that film crystallinity, dielectric properties, and TCR properties were strongly dependent upon the thin film thickness. As increasing of $V_{1.85}W_{0.15}O_5$ thickness, the grain size, morphology, and crystallinity increased. The dielectric constants of $V_{1.85}W_{0.15}O_5$ thin films deposited at 150nm were 71.11, with a dielectric loss of 0.015, respectively. Also, The $V_{1.85}W_{0.15}O_5$ thin films showed good TCR values of -3.45%/K.
