It is very important to evaluate on/off-line stability to operate the power system stably and economically. Until now, we have continuously secured the operation reliability of the power system through the evaluation of transient, voltage and small signal stability. This paper proposes that it is possible to operate in KWAMS by applying the multi-section analysis and subspace methods and verifying the reliability of the algorithms to directly estimate the dominant oscillation mode of the power system from the signal waveform acquired from the phasor measurement units. In addition, this paper shows that the dominant oscillation mode can be detected from real-time measurement data in power systems. Therefore, if we can monitor the state of the power system in real time, it is possible to avoid a large-scale power outage by knowing the possibility of the power system accident in advance.
In this paper a two-stage maximum-likelihood (ML) detection structure for group detection in DS/CDMA systems is presented. The first stage of the receiver is a linear filter, aimed at suppressing the effect of the unwanted (i.e., out-of-grout) users' signals, while the second stage is a non-linear block, implementing a ML detection rule on the set of desired users signals. As to the linear stage, we consider both the decorrelating and the minimum mean square error approaches. Interestingly, the proposed detection structure turns out to be a generalization of Varanasi's group detector, to which it reduces when the system is synchronous, the signatures are linerly independent and the first stage of the receiver is a decorrelator. The issue of blind adaptive receiver implementation is also considered, and implementations of the proposed receiver based on the LMS algorithm, the RLS algorithm and subspace-tracking algorithms are presented. These adaptive receivers do not rely on any knowledge on the out-of group users' signals, and are thus particularly suited for rejection of out-of-cell interference in the base station. Simulation results confirm that the proposed structure achieves very satisfactory performance in comparison with previously derived receivers, as well as that the proposed blind adaptive algorithms achieve satisfactory performance.

GASFLOW-MPI is a widely used scalable computational fluid dynamics numerical tool to simulate the fluid turbulence behavior, combustion dynamics, and other related thermal-hydraulic phenomena in nuclear power plant containment. An efficient scalable linear solver for the large-scale pressure equation is one of the key issues to ensure the computational efficiency of GASFLOW-MPI. Several advanced Krylov subspace methods and scalable preconditioning methods are compared and analyzed to improve the computational performance. With the help of the powerful computational capability, the large eddy simulation turbulent model is used to resolve more detailed turbulent behaviors. A backward-facing step flow is performed to study the free shear layer, the recirculation region, and the boundary layer, which is widespread in many scientific and engineering applications. Numerical results are compared with the experimental data in the literature and the direct numerical simulation results by GASFLOW-MPI. Both time-averaged velocity profile and turbulent intensity are well consistent with the experimental data and direct numerical simulation result. Furthermore, the frequency spectrum is presented and a -5/3 energy decay is observed for a wide range of frequencies, satisfying the turbulent energy spectrum theory. Parallel scaling tests are also implemented on the KIT/IKET cluster and a linear scaling is realized for GASFLOW-MPI.
Given vectors x and y in a separable Hilbert space $\cal H$, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator A such that Ax = y. In this article, we investigate Hilbert-Schmidt interpolation problems for vectors in a tridiagonal algebra. We show the following: Let $\cal L$ be a subspace lattice acting on a separable complex Hilbert space $\cal H$ and let x = ($x_{i}$) and y = ($y_{i}$) be vectors in $\cal H$. Then the following are equivalent; (1) There exists a Hilbert-Schmidt operator A = ($a_{ij}$ in Alg$\cal L$ such that Ax = y. (2) There is a bounded sequence {$a_n$ in C such that ${\sum^{\infty}}_{n=1}\mid\alpha_n\mid^2 < \infty$ and $y_1 = \alpha_1x_1 + \alpha_2x_2$ ... $y_{2k} =\alpha_{4k-1}x_{2k}$$y_{2k=1} = \alpha_{4kx2k} + \alpha_{4k+1}x_{2k+1} + \alpha_{4k+1}x_{2k+2}$ for K $\epsilon$ N.
Given operators X and Y acting on a separable complex Hilbert space H, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator A such that AX=Y. In this article, we investigate Hilbert-Schmidt interpolation problems for operators in a tridiagonal algebra and we get the following: Let ${\pounds}$ be a subspace lattice acting on a separable complex Hilbert space H and let X=$(x_{ij})$ and Y=$(y_{ij})$ be operators acting on H. Then the following are equivalent: (1) There exists a Hilbert-Schmidt operator $A=(a_{ij})$ in Alg${\pounds}$ such that AX=Y. (2) There is a bounded sequence $\{{\alpha}_n\}$ in $\mathbb{C}$ such that ${\sum}_{n=1}^{\infty}|{\alpha}_n|^2<{\infty}$ and $$y1_i={\alpha}_1x_{1i}+{\alpha}_2x_{2i}$$$$y2k_i={\alpha}_{4k-1}x_2k_i$$$$y{2k+1}_i={\alpha}_{4k}x_{2k}_i+{\alpha}_{4k+1}x_{2k+1}_i+{\alpha}_{4k+2}x_{2k+2}_i\;for\;all\;i,\;k\;\mathbb{N}$$.
Operational Modal Analysis also known as Output Only Modal Analysis has in the recent years been used for extracting modal parameters of civil engineering structures and is now becoming popular for mechanical structures. The advantage of the method is that no artificial excitation need to be applied to the structure or force signals to be measured. All the parameter estimation is based upon the response signals, thereby minimising the work of preparation for the test. This test case is a controlled lab set-up enabling different parameter estimation methods techniques to be used and compared to the Operational Modal Analysis. For Operational Modal Analysis two different estimation techniques are used: a non-parametric technique based on Frequency Domain Decomposition (FDD), and a parametric technique working on the raw data in time domain, a data driven Stochastic Subspace Identification (SS!) algorithm. These are compared to other methods such as traditional Modal Analysis.
Let $B^{n+1}$ be the unit ball in the complex vector space $\mathbb{C}^{n+1}$ with the standard Hermitian metric. Let ${\Sigma}^n={\partial}B^{n+1}=S^{2n+1}$ be the boundary sphere with the induced CR structure. Let f : ${\Sigma}^n{\hookrightarrow}{\Sigma}^N$ be a local CR immersion. If N < 3n - 1, the asymptotic vectors of the CR second fundamental form of f at each point form a subspace of the CR(horizontal) tangent space of ${\Sigma}^n$ of codimension at most 1. We study the higher order derivatives of this relation, and we show that a linearly full local CR immersion f : ${\Sigma}^n{\hookrightarrow}{\Sigma}^N$, N $\leq$ 3n-2, can only occur when N = n, 2n, or 2n + 1. As a consequence, it gives an extension of the classification of the rational proper holomorphic maps from $B^{n+1}$ to $B^{2n+2}$ by Hamada to the classification of the rational proper holomorphic maps from $B^{n+1}$ to $B^{3n+1}$.
