Current data on reproductive characters of endemic and native species are essential to provide a strategy for the conservation of these species. Red pine (Pinus densiflora Sieb. & Zucc.) is one of the dominant, native tree species in Korea, but its reproductive ecology is not well-known. In 1997, the pattern of variation in cone and seed yields contributing to the conservation of declining populations of red pines was examined. Plant height and dbh were measured, and several new cones were collected from each tagged tree after counting the number of cones on each tree. For a subset of cones sampled, the number of fertile scales, the number of seeds at three development stages (early/late aborted, and filled seed), seed wing size, wing color, and individual filled seed mass were measured. The three sites which differed significantly in mean plant size also differed in mean cone and seed production per plant. However further analyses showed that most variation in characters examined occurred among plants within sites, but not among sites. An average of 90% of the potential seeds on the cones aborted at an early developmental stage, demonstrating that early abortion is a major factor affecting the number of filled seeds per cone. Individual seed mass was the only character which exhibited significant variations among sites as well as among trees within sites. Individual seed mass was overall negatively correlated with both the percentage of late abortion and the number of old cones per plant, suggesting that both the past and current years' reproductive activities have caused variations in seed mass. The potential dispersal distance of red pine seeds is quite large. However, wing loading was correlated with seed mass and number in a complex pattern across the sites. Distribution of seeds with varied colored wings differed among sites and among trees within sites. These results suggest that red pines at different sites might possess different strategies to cope with selection pressures acting during the final phase of reproduction, from seed dispersal to establishment. Then the ‘fitted’ red pine trees at each site should be identified and managed to conserve or restore populations.

In this paper, we focus on the potential of dual polarized antennas in mobile system. thus, this paper designs exact dual polarized channel with Spatial Channel Model (SCM) and investigates the performance for certain environment. Using proposed the channel model; we know estimates of the channel capacity as a function of cross polarization discrimination (XPD) and spatial fading correlation. It is important that the MIMO channel matrix consists of Kronecker product dividable spatial and polarized channel. Through the channel characteristics, we propose an algorithm for the adaptation of transmit antenna configuration to time varying propagation environments. The optimal active transmit antenna subset is determined with equal power allocated to the active transmit antennas, assuming no feedback information on types of the selected antennas. We first consider a heuristic decision strategy in which the optimal active transmit antenna subset and its system capacity are determined such that the transmission data rate is maximized among all possible types. This paper then proposes singular values decision procedure consisting of Kronecker product with spatial and polarize channel. This method of singular value decision, which the first channel environments is determined using singular values of spatial channel part which is made of environment parameters and distance between antennas. level of correlation. Then we will select antenna which have various polarization type. After spatial channel structure is decided, we contact polarization types which have considerable cases It is note that the proposed algorithms and analysis of dual polarized channel using SCM (Spatial Channel Model) optimize channel capacity and reduce the number of transmit antenna selection compare to heuristic method which has considerable 100 cases.
Suppose that n is a positive integer. For any real number $\alpha$($\beta$ resp.) with $\alpha$ < 1 ($\beta$ > 1 resp.), let $K^{(n)}(\alpha)$ ($K^{(n)}(\beta)$ resp.) be the class of analytic functions in the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$ with f(0) = f'(0) = $\cdots$ = $f^{(n-1)}(0)$ = $f^{(n)}(0)-1\;=\;0$, Re($\frac{zf^{n+1}(z)}{f^{(n)}(z)}+1$) > $\alpha$ (Re($\frac{zf^{n+1}(z)}{f^{(n)}(z)}+1$) < $\beta$ resp.) in $\mathbb{D}$, and for any ${\lambda}\;{\in}\;\bar{\mathbb{D}}$, let $K^{(n)}({\alpha},\;{\lambda})$$K^{(n)}({\beta},\;{\lambda})$ resp.) denote a subclass of $K^{(n)}(\alpha)$ ($K^{(n)}(\beta)$ resp.) whose elements satisfy some condition about derivatives. For any fixed $z_0\;{\in}\;\mathbb{D}$, we shall determine the two regions of variability $V^{(n)}(z_0,\;{\alpha})$, ($V^{(n)}(z_0,\;{\beta})$ resp.) and $V^{(n)}(z_0,\;{\alpha},\;{\lambda})$ ($V^{(n)}(z_0,\;{\beta},\;{\lambda})$ resp.). Also we shall determine the extreme points of the families of analytic functions which satisfy $f(\mathbb{D})\;{\subset}\;V^{(n)}(z_0,\;{\alpha})$ ($f(\mathbb{D})\;{\subset}\;V^{(n)}(z_0,\;{\beta})$ resp.) when f ranges over the classes $K^{(n)}(\alpha)$ ($K^{(n)(\beta)$ resp.) and $K^{(n)}({\alpha},\;{\lambda})$ ($K^{(n)}({\beta},\;{\lambda})$ resp.), respectively.
Suppose that G is a group of permutations of a set ${\Omega}$. For a finite subset ${\gamma}$of${\Omega}$, the movement of ${\gamma}$ under the action of G is defined as move(${\gamma}$):=$max\limits_{g{\epsilon}G}|{\Gamma}^{g}{\backslash}{\Gamma}|$, and ${\gamma}$ will be said to have restricted movement if move(${\gamma}$)<|${\gamma}$|. Moreover if, for an infinite subset ${\gamma}$of${\Omega}$, the sets|{\Gamma}^{g}{\backslash}{\Gamma}| are finite and bounded as g runs over all elements of G, then we may define move(${\gamma}$)in the same way as for finite subsets. If move(${\gamma}$)${\leq}$m for all ${\gamma}$${\subseteq}$${\Omega}$, then G is said to have bounded movement and the movement of G move(G) is defined as the maximum of move(${\gamma}$) over all subsets ${\gamma}$ of ${\Omega}$. Having bounded movement is a very strong restriction on a group, but it is natural to ask just which permutation groups have bounded movement m. If move(G)=m then clearly we may assume that G has no fixed points is${\Omega}$, and with this assumption it was shown in [4, Theorem 1]that the number t of G=orbits is at most 2m-1, each G-orbit has length at most 3m, and moreover|${\Omega}$|${\leq}$3m+t-1${\leq}$5m-2. Moreover it has recently been shown by P. S. Kim, J. R. Cho and C. E. Praeger in [1] that essentially the only examples with as many as 2m-1 orbits are elementary abelian 2-groups, and by A. Gardiner, A. Mann and C. E. Praeger in [2,3]that essentially the only transitive examples in a set of maximal size, namely 3m, are groups of exponent 3. (The only exceptions to these general statements occur for small values of m and are known explicitly.) Motivated by these results, we would decide what role if any is played by primes other that 2 and 3 for describing the structure of groups of bounded movement.

In this paper, we propose a hierarchical application traffic classification system as an alternative means to overcome the limitations of the port number and payload based methodologies, which are traditionally considered traffic classification methods. The proposed system is a new classification model that hierarchically combines a binary classifier SVM and Support Vector Data Descriptions (SVDDs). The proposed system selects an optimal attribute subset from the bi-directional traffic flows generated by our traffic analysis system (KU-MON) that enables real-time collection and analysis of campus traffic. The system is composed of three layers: The first layer is a binary classifier SVM that performs rapid classification between P2P and non-P2P traffic. The second layer classifies P2P traffic into file-sharing, messenger and TV, based on three SVDDs. The third layer performs specialized classification of all individual application traffic types. Since the proposed system enables both coarse- and fine-grained classification, it can guarantee efficient resource management, such as a stable network environment, seamless bandwidth guarantee and appropriate QoS. Moreover, even when a new application emerges, it can be easily adapted for incremental updating and scaling. Only additional training for the new part of the application traffic is needed instead of retraining the entire system. The performance of the proposed system is validated via experiments which confirm that its recall and precision measures are satisfactory.

To compensate signal loss due to the channel blockage in satellite communication link, we propose a cooperative communication scheme for OTM(On-The-Move) terminal in next generation satellite communication systems. The proposed scheme configures cooperation subnet with adjacent OTM terminal with the help of ground communication equipment. Shared data is spread by orthogonal spreading code, then the spread sequences are transmitted simultaneously. The receiver combines the power of received signals by EGC(Equal gain combining). The OTM terminal blockage channel is modeled by 2-state Markov chain. We evaluate the bit error rate according to the blockage channel of the channel state for the performance analysis of the proposed scheme. As a result, the proposed scheme shows better BER performance than traditional scheme with the help of subset members. In particular, the proposed scheme shows superior performance as the channel block probability is higher. However, as the number of subset members is increasing, there is a constraint because of the higher multiple access interference.

To the exact cover problem that remains NP-complete to which no polynomial time algorithm is made available, this paper proposes a linear time algorithm that yields an optimal solution. The proposed algorithm makes use of the set cover problem's major feature which states that "no identical element shall be included in more than one covering set". To satisfy this criterion, the proposed algorithm initially selects a subset with the minimum cardinality and deletes those that contain the cardinality identical to that of the selected subset. This process is repeatedly performed on remaining subsets until the final solution is obtained. Provided that the solution is unattainable, it selects subsets with the maximum cardinality and repeats the same process. The proposed algorithm has not only obtained the optimal solution with ease but also proved its wide applicability on N-queens problems, hence disproving the NP-completeness of the exact cover problem.

Background : Paeonia japonica Miyabe is a medicinal plant which has been widely used as a component of blood-building decoctions (Chinese medicinal concept : Bu-Xie). The immunopharmacological characteristics of the extract of Paeonia japonica (PJ) were investigated. Methods : The effects of fractions of PJ extract on lymphocyte proliferation were measured by $H^3$-thymidine incorporation assay. The proliferated lymphocyte subsets were analyzed in flow cytometry. The subset cell populations of spleen cells were separated by magnetic cell separation system, and their proliferation by the extract were investigated. The effect of the extract on antibody production was determined in mice challenged with sheep red blood cells (SRBC) using hemolytic plaque forming cell assay. Results : Spleen cells were proliferated by water extract of PJ. Polysaccharide fraction (PJ-P) of the extract was most active in the proliferation. It was found in flow cytometry that the lymphocyte subset proliferated by PJ-P was B cell population. Among the separated subset cell populations, T cell-depleted cell population and macrophage-depleted cell population were most proliferated by PJ-P. However, positively selected populations of B cells and T cells were not proliferated by PJ-P. These results indicate that B cell proliferation by PJ-P may require the assistance of macrophages or T cells. These results suggest that firstly PJ-P may stimulate macrophages or T cells, and then B cells are activated. The number of antibody-secreting cells was increased by administration of PJ-P in mice immunized with SRBC as a T-dependent antigen. Conclusion : These results suggest that macrophages and accessory cells are directly activated by PJ-P and then helper T cells and B cells are indirectly activated. As the results, immune responses might be coordinately improved. In conclusion, PJ-P, a polysaccharide of P. japonica, may be a characteristic immunostimulator, which is analogous to polysaccharides such as lentinan, PSK and ginsan.
This study was performed to investigate the effect of extract mixture(IPGE) drink from Inonotus Obliquus, Phellinus Linteus and Ganoderma Lucidum on hematopoietic stem cells and lymphocyte subset[lymphocyte, $CD4^+T$ cell, $CD8^+T$ cell, Natural Killer(NK) cells] of blood in 37 participants who were healthy and about $40{\sim}70$ years old. They were divided into two groups; extract mixture drink administration group(n=27) and placebo administration group(n=12). They were given the test drink daily for 4 weeks. Blood was obtained from the subjects every two week in the beginning of administration day to evaluate the $CD34^+$ hematopoietic stem cells and immune cells. As results, $CD34^+$ hematopoietic stem cells were significantly increased after taking IPGE drink for 4 weeks compared to that before taking the drink (p<0.001). There was no significant changes in number of lymphocytes, $CD4^+T$ cells, $CD8^+T$ cells, NK cells and in the ratio of $CD4^+/CD8^+$ cell after taking the test drink. From these results, it was suggested that IPGE have a good health effect by promoting the proliferation of the hematopoietic stem cells.

Background: Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) is a useful technique to recover lower airway fluid and cells involved in many respiratory diseases. Miliary tuberculosis is potentially lethal, but the clinical manifestations are nonspecific and typical radiologic findings may not be seen until late in the course of disease. In addition, invasive procedures are often needed to confirm disease diagnosis. This study analyzed the cells and the T-lymphocyte subset in BAL fluid from patients with miliary tuberculosis to determine specific characteristics of BAL fluid that may help in the diagnosis of miliary tuberculosis, using a less invasive procedure. Methods: On a retrospective basis, we enrolled 20 miliary tuberculosis patients; 12 patients were male and the mean patient age was $40.5{\pm}16.2$ years. We analyzed differential cell counts of BAL fluid and the T-lymphocyte subset of BAL fluid. Results: Total cells and lymphocytes were increased in number in the BAL fluid. The percentage of CD4+ Tlymphocytes and the CD4/CD8 ratio in BAL fluid were significantly decreased and the percentage of CD8+ T-lymphocytes was relatively higher. These findings were more prominent in patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In the HIV-infected patients, the proportion of lymphocytes was significantly higher in BAL fluid than in peripheral blood. There were no significant differences between the BAL fluid and the peripheral blood T-lymphocytes subpopulation. Conclusion: BAL fluid in patients with miliary tuberculosis demonstrated lymphocytosis, a lower percentage of CD4+ T-lymphocytes, a higher percentage of CD8+ T-lymphocytes, and a decreased CD4/CD8 ratio. These findings were more significant in HIV-infected subjects.
