A Single-phase Buck-boost AC-AC Converter with Three Legs

  • This paper proposes a single-phase buck-boost AC-AC converter. It consists of three legs with six switching units (each unit is composed of an active switch and a diode) and its input and output ports share a common ground. It can provide buck-boost voltage operation and immune from shoot-through problem. Since only two switching units are involved in the current paths, the conduction losses are low, which improves the system efficiency. The operation principle of the proposed circuit is firstly presented, and then, various operation conditions are introduced to achieve different output voltages with step-changed frequencies. Additionally, the parameters design and comparative analysis of the power losses are also given. Finally, experimental results verify the correctness of the proposed converter.

  • In order to construct an efficient monitoring system for major port cities in Korea, the first step to build and manage related laws and institutional infrastructure with strengthen the cooperation of the relevant agencies, regional port authorities, and port corporations. Second, for the management of air pollutants emitted by ports, a management system should be established through systematic inventory source inventory and real-time monitoring system. Third, active countermeasures should be established to reduce the emission of air pollutants by sources such as ships, harbor equipment, and trucks. This will improve the air quality of major port cities and move them to clean port cities.

Optimal Radiation Port Arrangements for Hepatic Tumor using 3-dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy Planning (3차원입체조형방사선치료 계획 시 간종괴의 위치에 따른 최적 조사 방향의 결정)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the optimal beam arrangements for hepatic tumors, according to the location of the hepatic tumor and its relationship to organs at risk (OARs). The virtual gross tumor volumes were divided into four groups according to the Couinaud's classification. Several plans were made for each virtual target, and these plans were compared for the normal tissue complication probabilities (NTCP). For group I, NTCP improved as the number of the beam ports increased. However, plans with more than 5 ports had little advantage. For group II, plans with the beam directions from the anterior side showed better results. Group III contained many OARs near the target, which placed restrictions on the beam-directions. Multi-directional plans yielded a higher dose to the OARs than a simple two-port plan using right anterior oblique and posterior beam (RAO/PA). For group IV, a simple RAO/PA port plan was adequate for protection of remaining liver. NTCP can significantly vary between radiotherapy plans when the location of the tumor and its neighboring OARs are taken into consideration. The results in this study of optimal beam arrangements could be a useful set of guidelines for radiotherapy of hepatic tumors.

Determinants and Performance of Port Logistics Service Quality (항만물류서비스품질의 결정요인과 성과분석)

  • This paper investigates the determinants of port service quality from a resources-based approach. The research model is derived from the relevant literature in port management, service quality, and resource-based theory. It is hypothesized that tangible and intangible resources contribute to port service quality, which in turn leads to the enhancement of reputation and loyalty to ports. To test this, a questionnaire survey is undertaken on three major ports in Korea: Busan, Incheon, and Gwangyang; the collected data are then analyzed using partial least squares. It is suggested that both tangible resources and intangible resources have a positive influence on general service quality and that general service quality has a positive influence on customer satisfaction, thus improving port reputation and loyalty. The contribution to the literature is that resource-based theory is applied to a port service quality model and the model is verified. In addition, an augmented model is adopted to examine the effect of individual resources on service quality. It is also possible for port managers to use the constructs to monitor their resources and develop more specific strategies to gain reputation and loyalty from customers.

Establishing a Demand Forecast Model for Container Inventory in Liner Shipping Companies (정기선사의 컨테이너 재고 수요예측모델 구축에 대한 연구)

  • This study attempts to establish a precise forecast model for the container inventory demand of shipping companies through forecasts based on equipment type/size, ports, and weekly system dynamics. The forecast subjects were Shanghai and Yantian Ports. Only dry containers (20, 40) and high cubes (40) were used as the subject container inventory in this study due to their large demand and valid data computation. The simulation period was from 2011 to 2017 and weekly data were used, applying the actual data frequency among shipping companies. The results of the model accuracy test obtained through an application of Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) verified that the forecast model for dry 40' demand, dry 40' high cube demand, dry 20' supply, dry 40' supply, and dry 40' high cube supply in Shanghai Port provided an accurate prediction, with $0%{\leq}MAPE{\leq}10%$. The forecast model for supply and demand in Shanghai Port was otherwise verified to have relatively high prediction power, with $10%{\leq}MAPE{\leq}20%$. The forecast model for dry 40' high cube demand and dry 20' supply in Yantian Port was accurate, with $0%{\leq}MAPE{\leq}10%$. The forecast model for supply and demand in Yantian Port was generally verified to have relatively high prediction power, with $10%{\leq}MAPE{\leq}20%$. The forecast model in this study also had relatively high accuracy when compared with the actueal data managed in shipping companies.

  • Recently, there have been cases in which counterfeit foreign ships have entered and left domestic ports several times. Vessels have a ship-specific serial number given by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to identify the vessel, and IMO marking is mandatory on all ships built since 2004. In the case of airports and ports, which are representative logistics platforms, a security system is essential, but it is difficult to establish a security system at a port and there are many blind spots, which can cause security problems due to insufficient security systems. In this paper, a port security system is designed using deep learning object recognition and OpenCV. The security system process extracts the IMO number of the ship after recognizing the object when entering the ship, determines whether it is the same ship through feature point matching for ships with entry records, and stores the ship image and IMO number in the entry/exit DB for the first arrival vessel. Through the system of this paper, port security can be strengthened by improving the efficiency and system of port logistics by increasing the efficiency of port management personnel and reducing incidental costs caused by unauthorized entry.

Modified Hairpin Filters Improving the Suppression Performance of Stop-Band (저지 대역 제거 특성을 향상시킨 변형된 헤어핀 여파기)

  • In this paper, a new hairpin type strip-line BPF(Band Pass Filter) improving the suppression performance of unwanted frequency signal is studied. A modified hairpin filter is designed by classical hairpin filter design methodology and is realized by newly placing structure of designed filter. And a newly formed coupled-line effects between modified bilateral symmetry structures make the transmission zeros. Each transmission zeros can shift its frequency to wanted frequency by tuning a certain part of filter. To investigate the validity of this novel technique, an order-5 Chebyshev BPF centered at 9.2 GHz with a 15 % FBW(fractional bandwidth) were used. According to design and measurement results, a good performance of insertion loss of 0.8 dB and unwanted signal suppression of maximum 50 dB is achieved at full input/output ports.

  • Container cranes are vulnerable structure to difficult weather conditions because there is no shielding facility to protect them from high wind This study carried out to analyze the wind load have an effect on container crane according to a wind direction variation The container crane for this research is a model of a 61-ton class tint used broadly in the current ports. The dimension of an external fluid field set up 500m ${\times}$ 200m. In this study, Mean wind load conformed to the 'Design Criteria of Wind Load' in 'Load Criteria of Building Structures' and an external fluid field divided in interval of 10 degrees to analyze effect according to a wind direction From there, we carried out to the computation fluid dynamic analysis using a CFX-10 Therefore as consequence of computation fluid dynamic analysis and wind velocity experiment make a comparative study, we analyzed a wind load for construction design if container crane.

The Effect of Open Ratio of the Inlet Baffle on Hydraulic Behavior within a Rectangular Sedimentation Basin (장방형 침전지 유입 정류벽 유공비의 지내 수리거동에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • The purpose of inlet baffle is to distribute the flow uniformly over the entire cross-sectional area of the sedimentation basin. The goal when designing this baffle is to achieve some head loss while keeping the velocity gradients through the ports equal to the velocity gradient in the end of the flocculator, so as to not break up the flocs. Sedimentation tank performance is strongly influenced by hydrodynamic and physical effects such as inlet design. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of open ratio of the inlet baffle on hydraulic behavior within a rectangular sedimentation basin using CFD simulation and ADV technique. In order to verify the CFD simulation, we measured the factual velocity at 18 points in the full-scale sedimentation basin at Y water treatment plant. Good agreement was obtained between the CFD predictions and the experimentally measured data. From the simulation results of the existing basin with 7.4 % open ratio, it was investigated that extreme decrease in velocity occurred in the middle of basin. Since then, flow features was unstable. The region which the velocity decrease rapidly moved forward to the flow direction in proportion to the increase of inflow velocity. Also, it was investigated that the flow characteristic of 6.0 % open ratio was significantly different from 7.4 % open ratio at the same configuration condition. These results are a clear indication that inflow momentum and open ratio are the parameters affecting the characteristics of hydraulic patterns. The influence of these parameters on the sedimentation performance requires further study.

The Estimating of Port Preference according to Customer′s Segmentation (고객 세분화에 따른 항만 선호도 비교분석)

  • In this paper, we estimate the difference of port preference and attributed importance by diving subjects of the survey into internal and external shipping companies considered as the main customers of port. From the results of conjoint analysis, it is found that there are differences in preference between domestic shipping companies and foreign ones. The difference in port preference shows; foreign shipping companies mark Shanghai port in the first place in the preference of transshipment port, while domestic shipping companies prefer Busan port. Similar results are applied to preference of rolling port. The result of the survey means it is necessary to group shipping company, when port is analyzed, because the port preference is subject to wether internal or external shipping companies. Also, it implies target marketing strategies should continuously be needed in order to maintain Busan port's preference gaining advantage over other ports and major target would be shipping companies.
