  • There are normally two types of the energy absorbers used in the crashworthiness of trains. The first is a structure type, which mainly used in not only the primary structures of the train but also the crash energy absorbers at the accident. The second is a module type, which just absorbs the crash energy independent of the primary structures and attached to the structures of the train. The expansion and inversion tube are widely used as the module type crash energy absorbers, especially in the train. The tubes should not be buckled under the load acting on the end of the tube in longitudinal direction during absorbing the crash energy. The buckling stability of the tubes is affected by the boundary conditions, thickness and length of tube. In this study, the effects of the length and thickness of the tubes on the buckling load are studied by using the ABAQUS, a commercial finite element analysis program, and then presents the guideline to design the tube. The analysis processes to compute the buckling load consist of a linear buckling analysis and a nonlinear post-buckling analysis. The buckling modes are evaluated by the linear buckling analysis, as using these modes, the buckling loads are computed by the nonlinear post-buckling analysis.

  • A dynamic analysis of a tilting actuator for a projection TV is presented in this study. Severe vibration of a tilting actuator deteriorates the video quality of a projection TV. For this reason, a dynamic analysis of the tilting actuator system is essential to improve the video quality. The dynamic behaviors of the mirror reactive-type tilting actuator are examined in order to obtain design requirements of the lens transmissive-type tilting actuator. Based on these design requirements, a basic design is performed for the lens transmissive-type tilting actuator. With the basic design, the dynamic characteristics of the lens transmissive-type actuator are investigated by the finite element analysis After the prototype of the actuator is manufactured, the dynamic behaviors of the prototype are examined by experiments. As a result of this study, a new design for the hinge configuration of the actuator is suggested for better performance.

  • The extruder type is classified as screw type and non-screw type in terms of the extrusion method. The screw type extruder, which is the most frequently used, is classified as the single screw extruder and the multi-screw extruder. They are classified as vertical type and horizontal type in terms of structure; and those for compounding and for forming in terms of function. The single screw extruder is a universal extruder, most of which is suitable for the extrusion forming of thermoplastic resin. The multi-screw(two-screw, three-screw and four-screw) extruder can increase the extrusion power using the engagement of the screw flank. The single screw extruder does not have a good mixing ratio of the raw material and stable extrusion power, while it has low construction cost and operation cost. In this study, the single screw extruder, which has many weak points compared with the multi-screw extruder, was studied. There have been many studies on the single screw extruder, and they led to its significant development. The existing study method, however, had complex analysis processes and required much time. In this study, the CFD was applied to the performance test and analysis of the extruder, and the optimal design condition of the extrusion power for the screw and die of the single screw extruder was found by comparing the analysis results with the actual performance measurement of the single screw extruder.

For this study, a questionnaire was designed and sent to 600 female university students of Daejeon, Seoul and metropolitan area. The tool used in this study was MBTI(The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Form G Korean version and for the analysis of data SPSS 10.0 package were used. 10 representative patterns for this study were floral, dot, stripe, check, animal, abstract & artistic, geometric, vegetable & leaf, paisely, patchwork pattern. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, arithmetic mean, One-Way ANOVA, x²-test. The major findings were as follows: Clothing pattern image dimension perceived by Korean female university students for 10 representative patterns were basic form, deluxe, specialty, and cultural dimension. Among them, basic form and deluxe dimension were major dimensions. In basic form dimension, dot pattern score was high indicating female students perceive it as light, comfortable, clean, cool and simple pattern image. In deluxe dimension, floral pattern scored high and in specialty dimension, abstract and artistic pattern scored high among other pattern image. In cultural dimension, geometric pattern and check pattern scored high. Based on other detailed analysis results, It is concluded that the personality type greatly influence clothing pattern evaluation. For example, in case of color combination of patchwork pattern, there was a difference in color preference depend on a personality type such as sensing(S) or intuition(N). Therefore, sensing personality type preferred adjacent color combination than contrast color combination. Detailed marketing strategy is necessary in planning textile design of merchandise plan.
